I don't know how accurate this is but:
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.
A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

I cant copy and paste it, but I think everyone should read this passage written by a Brit about Afghans (Pakhtuns). Obviously it smacks of a condescending Orientalist tone, but there is some truth to it......bottom of page 43

bottom of page 43 talks about steam bottling and aerated waters, what is so important about that.Originally posted by Amir al Ghaznavi View PostI cant copy and paste it, but I think everyone should read this passage written by a Brit about Afghans (Pakhtuns). But I believe you are talking about pg. 473, What truth is there to it. The way he is talking, Ghengis Khan could say the same thing about the English if he ever reached it at the time, or Ahmed Shaw Durrani could say the same thing about the Sikhs.
The Moors of North Africa probably said the same thing about the Spaniards and Italians, and 500 years later the Spaniards and the Italians probably then said it about the North Africans that ruled over them in the past.
The Author clearly has a racist attitude where he believe the Europeans not only have the right but are the only ones capable to efficiently manage and organize the asiatic races for their own interests. Ya Ok you have
convinced me.

I already told you that it was orientalist and condescending. I think some truth can be found in it, especially the comment on organization, management and ruleOriginally posted by khushal View Postbottom of page 43 talks about steam bottling and aerated waters, what is so important about that.

What truth is in it. The Taliban managed Afghanistan much better than NATO has done, even though NATO has more resources at their disposal.Originally posted by Amir al Ghaznavi View PostI already told you that it was orientalist and condescending. Zahir Shaw did a better job than the Communists and Soviets did, even though the communists and the Soviets had more resources at their disposal. Your confused, the question is at whose interests can it be manged better. Oil rich Arab land is not managed at the interests of its people, but at the interests of it imperial masters. The Afghans are fully capable to manage their own resources for their own people but obstacles are put in place to prevent that.Last edited by khushal; 04-27-2011, 03:20 PM.

I corrected the khugyani branch, from what I understand the mahsud fall under the wazir branch. Mahsud was the great grandson of Wazir.
Where I am confused is are Sarban, Karlan, Ghourghusht, Batan the four sons of Abdul Rashid Quais Baba. can anyone explain this for me please.Last edited by khushal; 04-27-2011, 03:41 PM.

Somewhere i read that karlan was the son of ,,sarban,,but still not sure.
The sarbanis and karlanis may not be the decendants of Qais baba.Pashtun race is thousands years old and not that recent.
The Gharghasht and Betan are the tow sons of Qais baba .Qais baba was born in the mountain of ,,zjob,,south-pashtunkhwa(northren baluchistan) and most of the Gharghasht tribes still in the same region.
Pashtun history not clear so may be they are the four sons of Qais or the decendants of ,,afghana ibni armaghan ibni malak talot,,according to historains.
