Rohsina, the thing is that if they are considered gujjar, ddam, etc they are not considered Pashtuns. So I don't remember anyone calling them a lower caste of pashtuns, just not Pashtuns period.
There are sub-tribes of the similar name in yousufzais areas and they are not considered as Gujars.
For example i am ,,dolazai,,a sub-tribe of mansoor-gadoon tribe but there are dolazais in yousufzais of mardan (amazo ghary) .
It is fact that a large number of non yousufzais of swat and bunir are gujars, parachas, kohistani and kasabgars.
Salarzais are in bajawor, dir and few may be in bunir.

I welcome members for the interest in pashtun tribes.
It is important for us to know our origin and tribe.

The vast majority of yousuzais are living in swabi, mardan distt and they are mandarn yousufzai.
In swat the yousufzais are in good numbers but stil there is strong minority of non yousufzais. The kalam area of swat is majority kohistanis and they are not yousufzais.Few Safi famlies are also there. There are many ,,gujars,,in swat followed by parachas and other ,,kasabgar type of people such as tarkan, nayee, dum etc.Thats the reason many non yousufzais do,nt know their tribes there.
Malakand distt is divided in tow parts the upper malakand (batkhela, thana, totakan etc) is known as ,,swat ranezai,,This part of malakand is part of swat region. Many of the people in Swat ranezai are belong to the yousufzai sub-tribe of ranezai. In swat ranezai you will also find non yousufzais such as parachas, malezais, bajoris, gujars, kasabgars etc.
The people of lower malakand Teh Dargai (also known as a ,,sama ranezai,,) are belong to the ,,shalmani, ranezai, khatak,,pashtun tribes.
The town of ,,sakhaakot,,and sarounding are belong to the ,,shalmani,,pashtun tribe. Many of the Teh Dargai people are also belong to the the Ranezai sub-tribe of yousufzai.Khataks and Uthmankhel are also in good number.
      The yousufzais of Bunir
They are majority in Bunir followed by gujars etc.
      Shangla distt
Many of them are yousufzasi with a small minority of gujars.

      dir distt
      malezais ,kohistani,gujars(malezais majority)

      The yousufzai of Tor Ghar

Tor Ghar or kala dhaka is new distt of pashtunkhwa bordering bunir, mansehra, batagram and swat.It was a trible area with no govt influence but now it is declared as a distt. The hasanzais, madakhels, nasrat khel, akazais are living in Tor Ghar(100% yousufzais majority). The yousufzais of Tor Ghar are the brave people and good looking.Their women still wear the afghani style of ,,khatt partog,,very geratmand and the most hospitable people among yousuzais.

      The yousufzais of Thakot
Thakot town and few villages around in Batagram distt are also yousufzais. However most people of Batagram are swati pashtuns not yousufzais.

Minority yousufzasi are also living in haripore, charsada, ogy area etc.

In afghanistan yousufzais are in turkistan region, jalal abad, kunduz and some in kandaar.
Thank you for giving a brief details about Yousafzais.
You have mentioned some people like tarkaanr, qasabgar, dammaan, paraachkaan etc
I have a question of you, are these people a part of Yousafzais or Yousafzais are only the pure Pukhtuns as these people are mixed among us.
We pay them yearly amount in shape of daaney (jwaar, ghanam, worejey etc).
So how would you categorize them ?

Some of things you guys say about class is foreign to me. I'm speculating here but since societies evolve from tribal to feudal. Maybe in the valleys the tribes that settled down over time evolved more into a feudalistic society. Maybe this is the reason that some sort of class and "khans" exist where a few people own most of the land and the rest are merely servants. My father told me this also exists in Jalalabad as well as swat and Mardan and I'm pretty sure it exist in other valleys as well.

On another note its interesting that doubt's are raised about Toramana being Pashtun.

              welcome idiot,
The thread is for pashtun tribe which include yousufzai. Some yousufzai members shown their interest so we all respond. Now we will respond to you as we did to them
Kharoti is the sub-tribe of Ghilzai pashtun tribe. But there is another theory kharoti part of ,,karlan,,tribe of pashtuns.
We go and discuss this in details.
              Kharoti
Kharoti is a Pashtun tribe. The tribe has an estimated population of about 2.5 million and is based in Afghanistan. In Afghanistan, the main provinces where Kharoti tribe members reside are Helmand, Zabul, Herat, Kunduz, Laghman, Nangahar, Bagram, Wardag, Logur, Ghazni and Kandahar. They live in and around Kohistan. In the east, they range from Katta to Koh-e-Sulaiman to Barmal. Another area of large Kharoti population is the area of Oragoon where they are accompanied by Furmalis and Tajiks. The Kharoti tribe is of Ghilzai origin. Their tribal rivals are Waziris and Furmalis, both of whom believe the Furmali area belongs to them. Some of the important subsects of the Kharoti tribe are Zako Khel, Ya Khel, Adya Khel, Amand Khel, Shamu Khel, Suleman Zai, Khadar Khel, Zobi Khel and Kharmoozi.

Also there are many kharotis in south-pashtunkhwa (pashtun part of baluchistan.

Remember yousufzais like other pashtun tribes are ethnic afghans or pashutns. The parachas, gujars, kasabyans etc are not ethnic afghans or pashtuns or yousufzais. They are living in yousufzai area with their own identity. They have their own history. For example gujars is a large group can be find in many parts of indain sub-cont.The parachas is another group with its own history.Kasabgars tarkan, dum etc are Hindos by origin.
So yousufzais are the one belong to yousufzai tribe. If you think they are part of yousufzai tribe then why everyone of us calling them ,,kasabyaans or khoshi. They Serve the swati pashtun tribe before and now after the arrival of yousufzais they continue their jobs.
Most pashtuns never marry them but do,nt know much about swat if they do then pls give us more info.

hmmm you will find some contradictions in my statement to that of yours. You said that the tarkaanr or qasaabyan or paraachkaan etc people are the old swati people but i think NO.
The old swati people are still living there in every village with a very small minority. When the yousafzai invaded swat so some of them were killed in battles, many of them fled to mansehra and the remaining surrendered and stilll living with us BUT none of them fall in those categories that we have mentioned above. They are still called swati people.
I think these people the tarkaanr, qasaab, damaan, paraachkaan etc are the professions adopted by these people and they were entitled to in the very old times and they brought it from the Afghanistan.

                        kharotis

                        Notable figures

Hafizullah Amin, the second president (1979) of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan after the killing of Nur Muhammad Taraki (Taraki tribe), was a Kharoti tribesman. Likewise, his cousin Abdul Rasul Sayyaf, who was imprisoned during the rule of Muhammad Daoud Khan (1973-1978), is a Kharoti. This familial/tribal relation with Amin reputedly saved Sayyaf from execution.[3] After he was released by President Babrak Karmal in 1980, Sayyaf went on to become an important commander fighting against the Soviet-backed government, and continues to play a role on the Afghan political scene.
Gulbudin Khekmatyar is another famous kahroti pashtun origin from ghazni now based in kunduz.

There was war between dalazaks, swati and yousufzais for swat.

Some of the ,,kasabgars,,brought by pashtuns from india as a slave, some came with pashtuns fom afghanistan.Like i said most of them are hindos by origin and came from india.
