People have made the pages, the binding and the link that the words are printed on as more sacred than the words themselves. Before there was a physical copy of the Qur'an; people learned it by oral recitation and memory. The entire Qur'an had no binding or paper; it was something spiritual, in cased in the epicenter of nature itself. It was only put down on paper long after the words themselves emerged into our worldly reality. The Qur'an does not need nor ever needed sheets of paper to be real, it exists beyond the physical world, that is the true Qur'an

So what difference are people who think of the physical copies of the Qur'an as a sacred object than people who hold the Qur'an over peoples heads during a wedding?

I'm not doing this for attention; but I am doing this to teach the Ummah a powerful lesson. that we must abandon dogma and reawaken to truth. We must shake these shallow minded vestiges and be stronger, we can't let these kufar intimidate us or aggravate us and the way to do it is to shun the idea that the binding and pages of that the words of the Qur'an are written on are sacred.

I will initiate the video with a statement of Niyyah, then reciting du3a al thana in praise of God and durood for our Prophet. Then I will give a brief statement in Arabic, Pushto and English.

. I will use a purely Arabic copy of the Qur'an and use kerosine and a stove lighter to ignite it. I will allow the video to run until a significant portion of the Qur'an is burnt.

My Youtube Account is MutazilliTajdid, I will keep everyone updated as I want more people to join me on this.

Brother when I first saw the title I got upset and I thought Soldat Amir has gone mad. Then I saw it was you. Putting my emotions aside I read your post carefully and I understand what you mean after giving it a thought. I dont agree with burning an actual Quran. If it is the message you want to send you can do it in a better way. I wish you were a Quran Hafiz that would have been even more interesting. Or if you can get a Quran Hafiz to participate in the video for you. Burn just a blank book make it seem like its the Quran. Introduce the Hafiz, ask the audience can they burn this Quran? Recite, and at the end show that you didnt actually burn the Quran but a mock up. The point would be made nonetheless.

This way you can get your point across without any takfeer being committed against you and any burning of actual Quran. You reveal that at the end of the video that it wasn't a real Quran just some book by showing the Quran.

If it's the point, do it without burning an actual Quran.

Only take this advice if you are going to go do this no matter what and made up your mind. I only give this advice in such scenario. The reason is that they are preparing for Draw Mohammad Day 2. They are already promoting it ever since the Quran burning protests in Afghanistan started. So I understand why Muslims should not let their emotions be abused because this is exactly what these people get off on. They get off on by making people upset, angry and laugh at them.

We live in an age where extreme media statements don't shock in the same way any more. But therein is the inherent problem - in order to shock people into reaction, it takes even more extreme behaviours; some of this fringes on perverse.

I don't think you quite understand most people by attempting to lay out a communique - world over, even in the most democratic/libertarian/liberal/socialist societies, people think and vote in the most conservative ways. Muslims are hardly any different. They live by largely predictable patterns and burning Qu'rans or writing books about them barely changes their thinking.

What you are more likely to succeed in doing is ostracising yourself.

Circumstance my friend. Note that one American Muslim threatened the South Park writers and he just wrote some web rant. The American Muslim population generally, at least per surveys, appears rather content and not subdued or occupied and may have access to what is referred to as a modern education. Stricter American Muslims merely protested peacefully against Paster Jones.

Now, on the other hand, despite these idiots here who claim Pakistan is somehow behind the protests (to counter refer to the fact that it was now confirmed that the dude who they claimed was trained in madrassah in pakistan was goaded by the two Americans when they mocked the Quran and the protesters and this had nothing to do with pakistan) I think an Afghan who sees his people laughed at by the a group of white guys who follow a completely different doctrine, hoisting flags on their lands, and saying derogatory things about the ideologies dear to the occupied people may have a certain right to a bit wider range of emotions.

By the above I mean an Afghan in Afghanistan for whom this act may have meant more because of the situation Afghanistan is in.

I'm always amazed at how the great minds can't understand the simplest things.

I agree on the point of an Afghan in Afghanistan.

You are probably right brother, but he has a point too. The whole Draw Mohammad Day and Burn A Quran Day has to do with angering and emotionally attacking Muslims. X intentions are not bad. The method is bad. I only suggested that if he is going to do this like that Soldat guy who made videos he should not burn an actual Quran.

because the greatness of my mind goes without saying.

I would say that one cannot really blame human beings for reacting like human beings do. For instance, lets take another disenfranchized group like the African Americans. If some white guy pees on a poster of Martin Luther King Jr. I believe reasonable people will predict and understand the reaction that follows. In one way, Petreus and the group lost out because of the inherent reaction that occurs. The more that this escalates, the more the propaganda plays into the hands of the Taliban and other insurgencies. If there is some Somali American who had doubts about the intentions of the US abroad and he sees Americans reacting to a probable and predictable reaction irrationally (draw the Prophet day etc) he will lose faith in the country he was bought up in and potentially begin to believe the other side has a point. This was actually a stupid, and likely unintended move that has created a PR nightmare for the US. Its not the eyes of the Western world the US is concerned about when these events occur.. its worried about how it appears in Eastern eyes and in terms of taking that on the fence group over there and tipping them over to the other side.

Or they are simply human and responding to a multi facted reality. Emotional outlet is hard to predict. As I said above, its not likely that the US at all cares about how the West views the Muslim response. In fact the typical Western response might very well be:
rats in a cage... why the hell are we there trying to rebuild this place if this is what happens when we do something we consider a common place thing? (The US does not want this response from the West)

                          And from teh Eastern man:
"Hmmm, so they saw a group of occupied people got mad and now they are hosting a draw the Prophet day... maybe they are a-holes."

This is exactly why they got Karzai to apologise and exchanged pleasantries so both figurative eastern and western man see it as "move on, nothing hear to see bro."

Or even more interesting is the phenomena that happened after 2001 where despite their best attempts to malign the Quran as a terrorist manual, its sales sky rocketed.

Right, but these people are mentally deranged. I had an argument with one such type about the whole Quran burning incident in Afghanistan 2 days ago. He intentionally brought up the issue with "why are your people crying like babies over ink and paper?". They know it is not just the Quran burning. It is the sum of everything over the past 10 years and the impotency of the Afghan leaders that people just have had enough. Yet they act stupid intentionally.

I agree with you. I do not blame people who are offended for being offended. If people have the right to offend then people have the right to be offended and they naturally have the right to express that in whatever way comes to their minds. The thing is that if African Americans react in a violent way or Muslims it turns out bad for these two rather the white guys because of our state.
