Some people believe in respecting the Quraan by cherishing it, they realize that every single word in that book is part of a speach by the almighty creator, when you love someone you take care of something theyve given you, which is why people kiss it and place it in a lofty place, most of the Muslim world dont understand the actual words but they know that its a complete compilation of what Allah is saying which is enough for them to feel for the book, for them its not just a book its a form of something documented that resembles the most precious thing in the world 'the word of God'.

Burning the Quran to make a statement or show people that the actual meaning is more important is not a wise thing to do, people will be blinded, shocked and have such a high level of anger of seeing something they have so much respect for being disrespected in such a way.

If your doing it for publicity then many people do things for publicity, some people do the most shameless things in order to stand out, im sure burning the Quran would be one of those. If your not doing for publicity then take into consideration that you will be looked at as the guy that thought he was a scholar and took the worlds Islamic culture and tried reversing it when he wasnt even qualified enough to do so.

Actually, if this is not about sensationalism and you were really going to be intellectally honest about this, you would choose to deliver the said lecture in places like Saudi or Afghanistan where religion is followed more by tradition than understanding.
