I am not disputing that we are one people or belong to the same cultural and ethinc group. We are seperate as political creatures and we are seperate by out nationality, and my argument with Admin Khan is that there is no desire for unification from Pakistani Pashtuns with us and that is about it. They have chosen the path they have themselves, we haven't for them.

Because my feeling for Afghanistan comes from the fact that Afghansitan is my country. Afghanistan doesn't have a direct impact on Pakistani Pashtun and their love is for Pakistani. I am sorry, Baygham and others are politically marginal groups.Originally posted by Admin Khan View PostIsn't it your feelings which ultimately influences your political stance? Isn't it your feelings that contributes to how you feel about a certain issue? Isn't it your feelings and love for Afghanistan that makes you feel more attached to the land as compared to a Belgian who probably doesn't even care if Kandahar and Kabul are on fire, he will continue living his life with some pale lager, lambic beer and Flemish red.
Because I have traveled to Pakistan. I have met Pashtuns in real life, also, our e-diaspora here also at times voices distaste don't they? Baygham, who is from Swat doesn't seem to happy with the Pakistani state now does he? I can continue with such examples.
I beg to differ, I like to think that they do care. They might not love me, love is a strong word. But I am sure the minute they hear me saying "Singaya" they will have this feeling of "Da kho zma Pashtun dey!". Get it? Matter of fact, speaking from my prior experiences, they already do.
Put it this way, I am employed for this technological company. When I have a Pashtun from Pakistan who very rarely walks in to our building, they usually converse with me in Urdu. I can easily tell from the Urdu accent that he is a Pashtun so I usually say, "Pa pashto ki khabarey rasara waka". The smile and excitement on his face is what keeps me going, I get a "Oh! Ta khu me khpal ya, ta khu zma Pukhtun ya". And during the rest of the conversation, they forget what they came in for, they are just happy they met a Pashtun.
Before you tell me that they think I am from Pakistan, I am from Kandahar city, my accent is extremely distinguishable.

Some do, some don't. I have nothing against those that love Pakistan, they have the right to love whom they want to love. However, you must agree that there are Pashtuns who care for us and wish to see us united.Originally posted by ComradePashtun View PostBecause my feeling for Afghanistan comes from the fact that Afghansitan is my country. 3 reputable Swat members have made appearances and they all spoke in favor of our unity.Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.
A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

A great post wrora, deera manana.Originally posted by ijaz yousafzai View PostThey were sold out by an Afghan ruler to Firingis to bail out his rule in 1893 and when an oppurtune time to decide their political destiny fell in 1947, the Afghan rulers did not press to amalgamate its lost poeple but raised the stunt of Azad Pashtunistan, because the hegemonial Parsiban bureaucracy and aristrocracy opposed the union of the divided Pashtuns like you promote now. Afghanistan did not demand from Mountbattan to include the option of " joining Afghanistan" for the Pashtuns of Pashtunkhwa, in the Refrendum of 1947 under the pressure of Parsibans.Even their name was snatched and awarded to you, the non-Pashtuns to confuse the history and geography and disrobe them of their historical identity.Afghan rulers merely named a Chowk after Pashtunistan and gave stipend to some Pashtun individuals to hoodwink the Pashtuns and Pashtun cause, both in Afghanistan and Pashtunkhwa. The Parsiwans knew that if the Pashtuns from Pashtunkhwa returned to the fold of Afghanistan then, the balance in Parsiwans' favour would be reversed badly. This treacherous clique also feared that Pashtuns of Pashtunkhwa were more educated and politically more aware, whom they dreaded as a danger to the status quo in Afghanistan and rivals to their bureaucratic status, and therefore they conspired to oust them of " Afghaniat". The hegemonial Parsiban bureaucracy felt that the joining of Pashtunkhwa Pashtuns to their brothern would tilt the demographic configuration in favour of the Pashtuns which would get them swallowed in the brute majority of the Pashtuns. The Parsibans have also tremendously affected the political psyche of the persianized Pashtuns in Afghanistan with their gimmicks to safeguard the relegation of their status with the catchy slogan of Afghan nationalism and brainwash them to , " lets forget..."and urge them to " unify your own country.
This is what you could not hide. You fear that this lot is more educated and more active in politics. It has been also one of your nightmares that if Pashtun nationalism took tide among the Lar ao Bar Pashtuns to get them in one fold, then all your present standing will raze down to the earth. You laughed at Afghan Pashtuns by calling them " aksariat-e- befarhang", but you now feared that this forward thinking demographic tilt, if happened, will render you as mockable clowns. I don't see any difference in you and the Punjabis, who get mouthsores to call our land Pashtunkhwa and you are also adament on calling it NWFP, because you are allergic to the very name of Pashtuns. Your agenda is to keep apart the Pashtuns, maintain the status quo, ridicule the image of the Pashtuns, urging for recognizing the Durand Line to erect it as another Berlin Wall to divide one family and to get the leading role in secluded Afghanistan. Sweet day dreaming! We know your habit of fleeing Afghanistan to the West, Punjab and Iran when Afghanistan was caught by turmoil.

To me this is just the beginning... lets not loose hope. I remember a few years ago Afghanistan was not of any importance to any Pakistani pashtoons of pashtoonkhwa... this is prior to 9/11. but things have changed. our people have suffered alot on both side of the border but this has brought some positive results... one by one pashtoons of pashtoonkhwa are able to identify their enemy. it is a slow process but it will get there where they would really want to disassociate themslves from Pakistan. Who would want to be associated with the enemy?
We can not draw conclusion that 10 years from now we will be in the same situation-divided and with different interest in different countries. ALot has changed in the past 10 years and I am sure alot will change InshaALlah in the next.
No matter what the outcome of all of this is... It is out resposibility as Afghans to hold our ground strong when it comes to unity with pashtoons in pakistan. we can not and should not let the pakistani government win in acheiving what they have been trying to acheive for decades - that is to wipe out any hope of unification between two regions of pashtoons.
Having said that.. I would like to point out that for the time being we should only focus on Afghanistan because only a Strong and Stable Afghanistan can make this dream of unification come true. meanwhile, in the process of making AFghanistan strong we should make sure that the love we share in our hearts for pashtoons of pashtoonkhwa should develope even more... our desire to unite with them should develope more. only then we can fight for a united Loy Afghanistan when time comes.
... more later

comrade saab, this is not going to be by design. It happened in front of our eyes in the last 25 years in pakhtunkhwa. Slowly the pashtoon got educated, they started bussinessess, they become prosperous, they demanded more and more control, the other side became more and more paranoid, the sold out ones became more and more lucrative but in the end it will have to change. You cant kill 30 million people in 2010. This is not stalin or hitler era, it is 2010, those 30 millilon will get something.Originally posted by ComradePashtun View PostBaygham saahiba,
Ka ba zama muram (and for that matter any Afghan Pashtun's aim would be) is to unify with Pashtuns from the east just so it can shift the power in Kabul in my favour ---- then, then may Allah never make this dream come true. And if Pathans of Pakistan are also follwing their basic ugly insticts for material desire, then may Allah also never bring that day. We have already paid too heavy a price and it is not even acknowledged.
We are helpless, when you are ready call us.
Same for the disenfrenchized pashtoons in afghanistan, people are geting educated, bussinessess are popping up they are getting into main stream, something they were excluded from. Same is going to be true of the 3 million pashtoons in karachi.
And historically the pashtoons of pakhtunkwha, like the yousafzai, afridis, khattak, have not been under kabul rule for a long time, they had never accepted the court in kabul fully for atleast a couple of hundred years. Numerous families in pakhtunkhwa have settled here when monarchy reigned in kabul because they fell out of favor but found freedom here. This has allowed a sense of freedom and autonomy even in afghanistan unlike other autocratic regimes of the time, which could be totally ruthless and you wont be able to run away.

You have that skewed view of history probably twisted by you to make yourself comfortable in your thoughts with regard to Pashtun unity. The fact is, Shah Shuja once tried to sell you people as well by striking a deal with both British Raj and Maharaja Ranjit Singh whereby he would play the role of a second fiddle in return for limited sovereignty.Originally posted by ComradePashtun View PostYou don't deserve a decent reply either with that highly offencive post. I can reply with the same tune, but two wrong wont make a right. What educated and politically active? You mean political sevitusim? No Afghan king sold you, you sold yourself, and he just got as good deal as he could.
Don't forget that till 1920, they were all amirs with only internal autonomy with no sovereignty in external matters.
By the way, the freedom also was not entirely due to guts of the Pashtuns of your side. It was more due to imperial convenience. British during 19th Century had decided there would be 3 folds of their Indian frontier; NWFP (Khyber Pukhtunkhwa) the first fold, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa the second fold, and the rest of the Afghan land the thirld fold (so the imperial term the three fold frontier). They had decided that there would be direct British rule over Pukhtunkhwa, indirect rule over FATA through political department of the British Raj, and internal autonomy to the rest of the Afghan land with external matters in the hands of the Britis. That is why every Afghan amir received stipend from the British Empire (so they in a way sold you as well) till the end.
Don't give yourself much credit while discrediting others.Last edited by Toramana; 10-01-2010, 07:30 PM.
