Outside of that context, apostasy would not require death penalty, so long as the person respected the social values of Muslims and did not try and sow sedition among Muslims.

This is why I don't get why apostates generally become contentious loudmouths, they're basically bringing it on themselves.
    Treason
Yes I am aware of that interpretation.
Its cool if you believe that, I hope all muslims do one day too.
But you only hear about that interpretation by muslims in West.

    That's bull****.
Killing people because you disagree with them is not okay in any circumstance.
Being silent isn't a solution either.

That's not what I'm saying, I'm talking about being confrontational, if you confront people, they'll think you're being seditious not simply "disagreeing".

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

          Confront people?
This is an internet forum, people are here to communicate with others.
Last time I check, Islamist hunt down secular people and kill them.

Bangladeshi media reports that Ansar al-Islam, a local chapter of al-Qaeda had claimed responsibility for killing.

But KHalid Yasin was using the double entendre of brainwashing, He was talking about purifying the mind and brain, as opposed to cultish indoctrination. Two completely polar concepts.

I think Damir9000 is probably a good kid, he's just going through an identity crisis, in 5 years he might become a "WahhabiI .....*criinge*

I hope not, but these people who go through such reactionary moves, tend to go to extremes.
Thank you for verifying it & proving Manzareh wrong.

About Khalid Yasin, I used to be a big fan of his. Not anymore.
Yes, i agree with you that is what he tried to say.
But never the less, it was a very very bad analogy.
Brainwashing is never a good thing and has no positive connotation.

Also the Quote is not blown out of context.
I simply quoted him, nothing more.
The rest is in you own head.

Brainwash: make (someone) adopt radically different beliefs by using systematic and often forcible pressure.
"the organization could brainwash young people"
synonyms: indoctrinate, condition, reeducate, persuade, influence, propagandize, inculcate

Now, Khalid Yasin is native english speaker. I am so surprised that he didn't know better.

In my opinion, it was a Freudian slip on his part.
But that is just my opinion.

Any case, it was a really stupid thing for him to say.

            Don't judge me dude.
I am doing some Atheist dawah. The Great & Most Tastefull, Flying Spaghetti Monster will reward me dearly for my deed.

Don't be disingenuous, you're not simply "quoting" Khalid Yasin you have an intended reason why you're putting that quote, and given the context of your other comments, I'm pretty certain it's to suggest something about Islam. So don't act like you're just throwing some nebulous quote out there and we're all filling in the blanks.

And with that said you are clearly trying to confront Muslims, you're not simply disagreeing with people but rather you want to do battle.

I don't care if you do, but don't act like you didn't know what was going on and you simply wrote some analytical piece where you failed to see the veracity of Islamic theological claims.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Ex-Muslims simply stating that they've left Islam is being "seditious" according to most Muslims. Muslims should learn from Western Christians and just leave apostates alone once they come out.

It was stupid, but in my opinion it was his failed attempt at making some "play of words" with "brain" and "wash".. Whatever I don't even follow this guy or take interest in his preaching.

Right because historically, "Ex Muslims" HAVE BEEN seditious. It's your duty to show that's not the case.

How do we prove we're not? Since when are ex-Muslims known for committing violence? We're certainly several magnitudes more peaceful than Muslims. This isn't the 7th century anymore so seditious acts back then don't apply anymore. Westerners have moved on from the Middle Ages, yet Muslims are still too stubborn to.

Yeah but dude, people who do see comments like that could try to dox you, because from their perspective, you basically outed yourself and think you're surreptitiously out to undermine us.
