I actually asked this question to a friend once and he said that indeed they named them to scare of the indians because historically all these figures were at war with indians and won over them

I think generally 90% of pakistanis dont even know who these people were. (History) is a very weak subject for pakistanis

The only thing in common with India and Pakistan is IT, an awesome export I might confess. It's just that India exports IT, as in, Information Technology, while Pakistan exports IT, as in, International Terrorism.
      .

      Lol

I voted yes .....because as much as we mock and ridicule Pakistanis for lacking a history or heritage of their own, which is true

the whole landscape of Pashtun heritage is also similarly bogus. For years we were told we're Israelite when really we're a hodge podge of different central asian and south asian inhabitants. We tell ourselves ridiculous stories of former glories we claim men who THEMSELVES didn't claim to be Afghan as "Afghan heroes"

that's pretty dishonest. ....whatever ...being Pashtun is as empty as being a baloon. ....full of hot air.

I haven't been pro Taliban long before I even joined this site ....so you're wrong.

I did defend stoning but not the "Taliban's stoning"; I supported that it is apart of shari'ah but how the Taliban administered it is wrong

But yes then I became anti-stoning after reading Tariq Ramadan's arguments about the application of hudud, especially when it deals with capital crimes. He explains logically why Islamic Hudud is not functional or applicable anymore because in the original days of Islam they did not have a civil society, and thus didn't have other ways and means to deal with social unrest and deviant behavior except with a harsh penal code. Now we have psychologists, rehabilitation, different ways to treat a problem where hudud becomes unnecessary. Of course there still needs to be some type of penal code but not based on Shari'ah defined hudud but on account of people who are actively engaged in seditious acts, like the Taliban.

So yes I do sometimes change my position on things, but not because I'm some impulsive person who sways to different ideas when they feel like it or when it is fashionable. As you know I emphasize logic and rationality, but I am also human, A logical and rational human strives to acquire better understanding and knowledge of things, and when better, stronger evidence arguments arise, they become gravitate in that direction. I would like to believe that is how I have dealt with change and my personal cognitive development.

I'm certainly not a Soldat, he is purely a propaganda ministering opportunist. He seeks the support of his benefactors like Russians and Eastern Europeans. I on the other hand will give criticism to where I have determined to the best of my ability that it is due, whether it is towards Saudis, towards the Pakistani State or to Pashtuns themselves as well as Russia and Americans and will not avoid this because of seeking some personal gain from it, as Soldat does in excusing Russian oppression.

This critique applies to even the historical landscape of Pashtuns, I too was once enamored by the fabulous stories of legendary Pashtun glory, but I had to take a better look. I found that there is many things which are faulty in our historical records and those descrepancies stem from the faults in Pashtun culture itself. I am not saying I'm anti pashtun, but I have to call Pashtuns out on their nonsense. I know you too understand the problems in our culture, and the only way to really solve them is to look at ourselves honestly and looking at our own self image honestly.

I agree with you, I am not saying "oh Pashtuns are so bad, and X-people are so good, why can't we be more like them". I realize the flaws of every culture. My problem is Pashtuns believe they're without flaws that their backwardness and stupidity is noble and righteous. That their legends and heroes which they rest their cultural idealisms on were without severe character flaws.

This is not hate for Pashtuns/Afghans but fair critique. Being Pashtun is full of hot air. We tell ourselves how brave and tough we are, when we're none of that. Our history is proof but we like to ignore the unsavory parts.

We're claiming Mahmoud Ghaznawi, who was a SALJUK TURK as an Afghan and we call him "our hero" even though he killed many Afghans, and Many Afghans joined and help him do it. He and his men were known for raping Indian women. What kind of hero is that?

Abdali did the same thing with the Marathas, what kind of hero does that?

Khushal died running away from his own son who was working for the Mughals to kill him

so don't get upset with me , get upset with your legacy.

should i explain u again the diffrence between hollywood heroes and reall life hero's? I am telling u for the 3rd time again that every other leader has done such backward actions as well. But it doesn give you the ****ING RIGHT TO sheer all pashtuns on one blade.

I am proud to be AFGHAN/PASHTUN
                              So should you be TURK/Afghan

And you should speak with respect not with such sentences like: that's pretty dishonest. ....whatever ...being Pashtun is as empty as being a baloon. ....full of hot air.

What do you think you are speaking for all pashtuns?
Why are not just simply referring to a authentic source before barking out some stupid ass myths about our leaders?
Why are u making such stupid sentences which makes me think you are emotional?
Why are u still not getting that a real hero only exists in hollywood movies, why don't you get it that the leaders mirwais khan, khushal khan, ahmad shah abdali did this for the nation. These people writed our history, they are our identity . Then why the **** must keep on hammering with such stupid replys.

AND I CAN ****ING SEE THAT YOU ARE OPENLY Insulting AFGHANS/PASHTUNS .
YOU ARE BLINDLY ABUSING AFGHAN/PASHTUNS LEADERS FOR STUPID CRIMES where you put the authentic source . But you just bark out some stupid ass things.
AND THATS WHAT BOTHERS ME YOU ARE DIRECTLY OFFENDING WITH STUPID EMOTIONAL SENTENCES, like i mentioned above.

Sure i'd love to see the expressions on their tajik forefathers faces if their progeny was to claim being afghan! The older generation hide behind the political term and the younger generation probably doesn't know any better.

I guess the concept of anglo/irish/italian/Chinese - american might work but it is a clumsy tag for afghanistan - tajik afghan, uzbeki afghan etc.

Thankfully each ethnicity is clearly articulated in the national anthem, leaving no doubt in the rainbow nation, and as long as pashtuns can recite poetry of KKK and equate afghan with pashtun when ever, the pashtuns can relax, sit on the carpet, lean on the toshakan, and drink tea.

Really as our neighbours they are in a sticky situation, being tajik and living in afghanistan as opposed to tajikistan, their anxiety is clear as day and night, and as long as they are humble and remember this, they are my neighbours and i respect my neighbours the respect advised to all muslims to their neighbours, should they start quoting latif pedram polemics, then I have neither the patience nor sympathy for their arrogance.

sorry for the tangent, thispoint needed nailing. so back to the ghauri and abdali missiles.
