Yeah he took Herat from Shah Rukh by force....and? Shah Rukh had his own principality and he was squabbling against the others. And even after he took it, he left Shah Rukh in power. By leaving someone in power, you're not deposing them

He created a perso-centric state, Qizilbash were culturally Persian. He squashed OTHER Qizilbash who were rebelling against Nader Shah after the assassination, and fragmenting his former empire. Notice that Abdalis "empire" nearly exactly matches the boudaries of Nader Shah's. In essence he was reconsolidating his master's empire.

Abdali was Nader Shah's servant. A loyal one too. Or he would have killed Shah Rukh.

The Hazaras and Qizilbash were allies?,...not so, If you read more you'll find that in the Kabul rebellion Most of the Qizilbash were along with the Durrani Khans against Shah Shuja because he cut their monetary allowances but still demanded their pledge allegiance. hmmm sound like power and money hungriness yet? Yes I think So.

I doubt people who had money and power like the Qizilbash did and were getting money would think the Briish are their "saviors"; just a better sugar daddy. Then there were Qizilbash who were ON the side of Shah Shuja, they definitely worked with the British BUT they wanted to keep Shah Shuja in power. Other Qizilbash were the ones who told Pashtuns that Shah Shuja was the lackey of the British and in this way they were trying to reconsolidate power ....see that power theme again?

The Hazara were oppressed, the Qizilbash were just power hawks. If they had any alliances it isnt because the Qizilbash needed saviors.

One thing I learned though is that you know absolutely nothing about Afghan history, NOTHING AT ALL. Pretty pathetic for someone who tries to feign credibility of "being there".

Ok ! If it's not wrong to name the nukes like that than let's move forward.

If it is wrong than start thinking about a legal adviser to claim for 'copyrights' thing while they are busy designing the next one.

These are of no good for Pakistan btw when every other day a drone flies into it's territories kill it's inhabitants and go back safely.

        thats not the point.
its is obvious that it is wrong to name those nukes like that.
copyright? its not a product and these figures dont just belong to Afghanistan either.

its just wrong to name weapons of massdestruction after them.
they should name a uni or a hospital after them.

rtr is right about pashtun bravado, it gets ridiculous at times. though i do disagree with him on other points.

at this rate, in 100 years pashtuns will be praising karzai just because he had a bad relationship with america, like an abused wife. they will say hafizullah amin was a patriot for killing taraki, and that mullah omar could shoot a laser out of his one eye like cyclopes.

but pashtuns are no different from other cultures in that we put certain figures on a pedestal for the sake of national pride. reminds me of that simpsons episode where lisa finds out that jebediah springfield was actually a war mongering pirate and not the hero that people thought he was. she found out the truth while they were having a parade in his name and was going to tell the truth about him but she stopped short at the last minute. it was because she saw all the good that the celebration and his perceived legacy brought out in people.

There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

well these men had nothing to do with health or education, they are renown for their strength and power.

if afghanistan had long range missiles, surely there would be no protest by afghans if we named it abdali.

Pull out your swords and slay anyone that says Pashtun and Afghan are not one. Arabs know this and so do Romans: Afghans are Pashtuns and Pashtuns are Afghans!

Khushal Khan Khattak (1613–1689) was a prominent Afghan(pashtun) poet, warrior, charismatic personality and tribal chief of the Khattak tribe of the Afghans. He is the first Afghan mentor who presents his theories for the unity of the Afghan resistance against the foreign parts, and the creation of a nation-state.

what the heck are you talking about?

Even if they were exclusively know for strength (nothing wrong with that) still that doesnt mean you name nukes after them.
you guys have weird sense of judgement and run your mouths like there is no tommorow.

i would object to Afghanistan naming them as well.

so you would rather name schools after great military leaders than missiles? you carry this stigma that nukes are bad so anything associated with it, including a name, is also bad. if afghanistan manufactured its own abdali guns, you would be proud, if it built abdali air defense missiles you would be proud, but if it built its own nuclear capable missles, you would say its bad?

we as afghans adore the likes of abdali for his adventures in india and his consolidation of power in what we know today as afghanistan, not education or anything else.

Well they named nukes after them why don't you make a university and hospital to name it after them.

The point is they broke the copyright of ''Afghans''
                            Now suddenly they turned Afghans
So i am totally against this.

If they belong to other Muslims than Missile technology has a lot to do with what they used to do i.e., Warfare.

If you think that they don't belong to the Secular State created by a kafir whose ancestors helped Maratas against Ahmad Shah Abdali than either go for the claims, copyrights .. patents whatever.

As a commander of Nadir Afshari, yes this is true. It was more to weaken the Ghilzais and propagate his own tribesmen to power. There were Ghilzais that joined his army later after Afshari was killed by his own Qizilbash.

Even though this occurred it doesn't negate how influential Afghan figures are in showing how Afghans can fight for independence from foreign masters like Mirwais Khan Hotaki's removal of Georgian vassal who ruled Kandahar. I find the resentment of people attacking you how some elementary historians do not want to criticize George Washington. Yes he was America's first president, he fought for independence...but then again..he still treated people like property. He murdered a lot of helpless Indians in the Ohio River valley, and he did rip the teeth out of his own slaves to make a set of dentures.
