Why not? You fail to understand that the point I am making is that there are other ways of satisfying our fashion agendas, and many will agree that Hijaab is the very last. Those mind you, are factual experiences, and a woman who solely wears her Hijaab for fashion purposes is not willing to put up with all of those bitter situations. Frankly speaking, why would a woman put herself through so much just because of how she dresses? Impossible if you ask me. Wearing coloured Hijaabs and matching clothes is one thing. Wearing Hijaab with that intention is another. How this concept is seen today and represented by our Muslim women, is indeed wrong, however, to say that we are aware that ‘a large number’ of girls make it a part of their lives for ‘other reasons’, too, is off beam.

I can understand your point, but I still do not agree. I understand that intention has a lot to do with it. Obviously, if a girl wears the hijab because it's her way of being modest, AND her hijab choice happens to be fashionable one, it's unfair to assume that she's wearing it just because it's fashionable. And if I'm not mistaken, you think this is what I'm trying to say. It's actually not.)Originally posted by *Mahzala* View Post

Regarding your boldened comment, it's actually not impossible at all. Two of the mosques I attend regularly here has hijabis who wear it for that reason. It doesn't make sense to you and seems impossible to you because you don't understand it, and you cannot imagine that someone would wear it for that intention. But, you see, what happens is that when others around you wear the hijab, you wanna fit in; when they make it all beautiful and stuff, you wanna wear it just like them. Adding to that is the pressure from families/parents for some females, and so wearing the hijab becomes worth it because you get to make it fashionable AND you get to give in to your family's/peers' pressure of wearing it.
It's really simple if you actually talk to some women who wear it for this reason. It's simple because not all women who wear the hijab do it because it's their way of being modest or fighting or for respect or feeling secure. It's just beautiful to wear it, for many girls, that's all. Of course, they have to add in the whole "modesty" thing in it -- but that's where the whole "which parts are you covering, exactly?" comes in as well, as does whether they can read the Quran, whether they pray, and other matters.
