  • ~ Hijabis.

    Assalamalaikum sisters (lol)

Today, I want to discuss this topic with you..

~ Hijab - The shell for the most precious pearl.

Do you girls wear Hijab? If so, always.. or only during Ramadan? For how long have you been wearing it?

What made you wear Hijab.. was it your family's request or did you chose to do it by yourself? For what reasons do you wear it.. cultural or religious?

After deciding to wear a Hijab.. have you made certain changes to your life? How has your life changed.. how has your behavior changed.. how have your encounters changed?

What difficulties have you come across as a Hijabi? Do you find it difficult to find appropriate clothing, is it difficult to cover during the summer or is it difficult to find outfits for weddings etc. ?

How have people treated you differently as a Hijabi? Do men approach you, if so, how? Do people treat you negatively, do they ask a lot of questions?

How do you wear your head scarf? Lose like women back home.. or Arabic style.. Turkish style.. what style? Post pictures =) (not of yourself of course lol)

Do you wear Abaayas? Punjabi clothes? Western clothes?

    Shaaare awayyy =)

I wear a scarf not because I am forced, because ever since I have been wearing one guys do not tease me anymore. Before just by minding my own business and passing buy I used to here guys trying to talk to me. now people just let me mind my business.

Men used to approach me when I did not wear one. I used to ignore them and then they used to curse at me.

    "you were ugly anyways"

but just 2 minutes ago they were praising my beauty in public. I really felt umcomfortable. I was scared to walk out the house. I was scared to walk with my brothers. for obvious reasons. If a guy talks to me and my brother were to see it. you know what would have happened.

      Wa'alaykumasalaam.

      That's a lot of questions. =P

I started wearing it just before I started highschool, it was by choice. All the older girls in the family wore it and I wanted to be like them, I also knew it was eventually gonna be expected of me. It wasn't till a few years later that I realised the importance and significance of hijaab.

My school was mostly white and there were very few Asains or Muslims in my classes, so naturally I was questioned a lot. With the hijaab I get a lot of respect, but that's also coz of the way I present myself, personality wise too. Some girls will wear hijaab and still endulge in haraam acts.

The hijaab for me, was like a reminder that I was a Muslim, so it helped me to keep myself composed. I'm not sure exactly how my life has changed with just the hijaab, I don't think specific things change your life, only you can do that, but Islam gives me peace.

The hijaab hasn't completely stopped stares, men are determined lol, but there's only so much I can control other people looking at me. I wear it for God, he's commanded me to, so I should please him before pleasing myself or others. One day I'm gonna have to face Allah, I'm reluctant to do things that will displease him. Everything commanded in the Qur'an is for our own good, whether we realise it or not.

These days I mostly wear shalwar kameez and I wear my hijaab so I'm all covered (like the pict posted^).. and yes in certain circumstances it can be difficult to wear, i.e. in Summer or whatever, but is pleasing your Lord not worth the effort?

Erm, I thing I've answered just about everything. =)

I do not wear Hijab because I never felt the need to. I feel like I am perfectly fine the way I am. If guys want to talk to me, I wont talk back. I love my husband and he knows it. If a guy is really desperate a hijab wouldnt make the difference.

The Quran does not say to wear a burkah. I wear jeans, I consider myself as modest. Its about how you raise your children.

            wooooah

i wear it because i am a goodi toshu. i just could not tolerate the fact that girls who did wear it got more attention than me. i am also not very good with brushing my hair often. spares me the trouble of washing my hair every day....o and i am perfect.

Hmm... you sure, Sabrina Jaan, that no one said they wear the hijab so they're more respected? Apparently, almost all wear it because the hijab seems to be the only way they can demand respect from the opposite gender.

Lemme quote a few for you, guley.

All hijabi females wear the hijab for different reasons, and one of those reasons for many women is to demand respect. If that's the case, no one can say it's a wrong reason, when it works for some (but not necessarily for all).

the reason you wear your hijab should not have anything to do with any one else but yourself. not the society or your husband. o, and no one stops cursing you or following you to your home because you don't wear a hijab. it's not the magic blanket that will make all your worries go away. let's be a bit more practical in life. there is the inner peace and then a few awkward glances or friendly smiles from strangers here and there but at the end of the day it's you, your mirror and the choice that you have made.

Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

                            -Ferishta, 1560–1620
