  • They say that formal Southern Pashto is the proper Pashto because each letter is pronounced distinctly.
ږ for example has its own sound in this dialect and it is just pronounced like ګ in other dialects
ښ also has its own distinct sound but it is pronounced as خ in other dialects.

That's why people pronounce پښتو as Pakhto although it is not written with a خ . If it were supposed to be pronounced that way, a new letter would not be introduced to the alphabet of the language. For those who are new to learning Pashto and learn the Eastern dialect, it will be difficult to learn how to write Pashto because they will be confused as to when to use خ and when to use ښ and between ږ and ګ because they don't make a distinction in the pronunciation.

Daa zma lewanay Zrra gorah, daa sta lewanee Mina..
Za ba da Sahra warnakam da Iran pa Golestan,
Dalta za yao & yakta yam, halta zar zma pa Shaan
    .

However, It's not spelled with a "Kha" though it's spelled with Kheen, the Kheen and Kha have two different pronounciations.

I agree however that Qandahari dialect enunciates things very clearly; it's very fluid where as when I speak Pakhto I feel my strained at times to ensure I'm pronouncing things comprehensibly.

Good job Scimitar wrora. I like your first sentence but don't forget to add na before malomedey.
Idiot, literally it means something like it's been a long time you havn't appeared. So you can use that too.

            • bahut Shukria darwez, Mr. Edge, Mayana. I should be fluent in no time thanks to you guys, and PF in general, this was the reason why I joined this site. To practice my Pakhto, and the political talks aren't bad either.

So I would like to quickly review what i know about the Pakhto sentence structure.

              the subject:

the subject usually starts with a Noun, Pronoun. But does it also start with words like who what where when and why?

              the complement:

The object starts off with a preposition, or adjective, following a noun. But the preposition can sandwich both the adjective and noun. Ex "Pe adjective noun ke"

              The verb:

Verbs for examples have endings like (yam) (ye) (yu) (ey) but is their more I should know about them?

Once again dera mañana, for your time, patience and help.

              • Idiot, you will not be fluent from just reading words on pf. You will have to speak to other pashto speakers. This is good because without that it is nearly impossible to learn the language.

In my house, I have my mom and bro in law who are fluent in Pashto. As well as my aunts and uncles.
                    shamlawar
Haha I can speak/understand Urdu because Indie drama is on all day in my house.

I can speak Dari because for some reason my parents speak Dari, instead of Pashto, even though they come from Pashtun parents. Both my grandmas are Dari speaking Pashtuns, one from Kunduz the other from Kandahar. Pashtuns have a problem in which if 10 people speak Pashto and one don't, they all speak the language of the minority.

Its a complex reason why my grandmas don't speak Pashto, as they both lost their dads who were Pashtuns when they were kids.

the first part does not sound proper, and also this not future tense.

I can help you with these.

                          Snow-- Wawra

So if you want to say "it's snowing"

                          "Wawra ori"

                          Snow is a noun.
