btw, کیش, have you become more religious since last year ?
That is not the best question. It is like saying what are the purpose of arms and legs.

Allah, Lord of the universe, the most merciful has raised the rankings of humans over all creations. Why you ask? Allah, The greatest breathed life to Adam (peace be upon him) life and free will! it is free will that separates humans from animals, planets, stars, galaxies and angels.

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Had you not committed sins, Allah would have brought into existence a creation that would have committed sin (and Allah) would have forgiven them. [Sahih Muslim].

No i havent increased my "religiousity" but i have gained alot of knowledge in the past year. All praises to Allah.

No, actually I find to be a very relevant & important question.

Hands, Arm & legs have their functions & limitations.

Wings help an animal to fly in the air. The are no good without air.

Why would a supernatural creature need wings for?

Allah, the great and glorious and his Messenger (Peace be upon him) Know best.

I mentioned why angels would have wings. i have a question for you,

How does something come from nothing?

Just reiterating a conclusion made from learning other religions, cultures & history.

          But here's one:

In Islam, why do angels have wings?
Which is a faulty line of reasoning in itself, there's nothing to suggest all religions are fundamentally congruent.

Why do Angels have wings? Like many traditions, Islam relates the esoteric or abstract to things people can identify with or reference on some level. I'm not claiming this is the official "Islamic positiion" but that's a perfectly sensible answer to this question. Not sure why skeptics didn't think of it before me?

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Then why do you keep saying stuff that sounds like you just relied on Google searches? That's not a sound basis for "knowing" Islam.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

I believe you already asked me that question before.

Just because one does not have an answer to that, doesn't validate Islam or the existence of God.
But I believe Physicists are at working finding an answer.

This is how something comes from nothing, Almighty Allah who is above and creator of the sciences says in the Holy Qu'ran

2:117- He is the One Who has originated the heavens and the earth, and when He wills to (originate) a thing, He only says to it: ‘Be,’ and it becomes.

3:47- Maryam (Mary) submitted: ‘O my Lord, how shall I have a son when no man has ever touched me?’ He said: ‘Just as Allah creates what He pleases.’ When He decides (to do) some work, He just gives it the command ‘Be,’ and it becomes.

3:59- Surely, the example of ‘Isa (Jesus) in the sight of Allah is the same as that of Adam whom He formed from clay, then said (to him): ‘Be.’ And he became.

6:73- And He is the One (Allah) Who has created the heavens and the earth (in accordance with His decreed celestial order based) on truth. And the Day when He will say: ‘Be,’ then that (Day of Judgment) will come into being. His Word is the truth. And His will be the sovereignty on the Day when the Trumpet will be blown (by Israfil). He (is the One Who) has the knowledge of the unseen and the seen, and He is All-Wise, All-Aware.

16:40- Our command for a thing is but only this much that when We intend (to bring) it (into existence), We say to it: ‘Be,’ and it becomes.

19:35- It is not Allah’s Glory that He should take (to Himself anyone as) a son. Holy and Glorified is He (above this)! When He decrees any matter, He only says to it: ‘Be,’ and it becomes.

36:82- His command (of creation) is only that when He intends (to create) something, He says to it: ‘Be,’ so it instantly becomes (existent or visible and continues becoming).

40:68- He is the One Who gives life and causes death. Then when He decides upon a thing, He says to it only: ‘Be,’ so it becomes.

Innovating Islam again are you Mahmoud? Are you the Mahdi or Caliph to make such remarks to point towards metaphors?

Don't need to be, it's a perfectly logical way to explain why angels have "wings" or at least described to, from a purely rational perspective.

I don't need to wait to apply my cognitive faculties.

. Just like electricty comes from electra, meaning "blazing sun", it's a way of relating ideas. Not quite metaphor.

i see where you are coming from. But wouldn't Gabriel (peace be upon him) need wings to travel through the multiverses? remember in the Holy Qu'ran it is mentioned that angels have wings as well.

why would they "need" wings? I mean wings are things animals evolved to travel through an Earthly environment.

Qur'an says a lot of things, It says God has a face and has a hand, it doesn't mean God's a human being or organism. Otherwise the statement "Kulli shay illa wajhu halikun" would make no sense.

Does that mean God's hand goes away?

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Thats a great question. Allah the great and glorious's hand, Allah and his messenger (peace be upon him) know better.

But when it comes to Angels having wings. The Prophet (PBUH) saw gabriel (PBUH) with 600 wings. and he (PBUH) rode with him in Mi'raj.

Angles are created from light, that is how they travel at great speeds.
