Unmarried fornicators are lashed. Married fornicators are stoned or walls are collapsed on top of them to crush them.

If we would label this as black-mail, then chopping the hand of a thief or stoning an adulterer could also be labeled as blackmail.

The problem that arises when people rely on history rather than the sunnah and the Holy Quran is that people distort facts.

The Holy Prophet (saw) warned that Islam would also be prone to distortion. The beauty however, is that our Quran would not be tampered with. Also, the Holy Prophet (saw) mentioned the coming of mujaddideen that would make sure that Islamic teachings stay in tact.

When people rather follow hadith over the sunnah and the Holy Quran then there is no guessing how much Islam can get politicized.
