Like I said, Allah represented the Creator God, which was used even by Christians and Jews, who are monotheist, before Islam, in Arabia. The substitute for Allah in Aramaic, the language spoken by Christ, is Alaha. In Hebrew, its Elohim/Eloh. So this title was used by monotheists and polytheists.

When people say "pagan origin of word Allah", all they do is prove the existence, use of the word before Islam in the region....so what? The Prophet never claimed to bring in a new faith, the whole point of Islam is that earlier religions of the one God have been perverted, including Christianity and Judaism. It happens to all religions, including Islam, we have sects that does the exact same thing as what the previous generations did i.e. associate partners with God.

Allah basically means "the God" or "God". It is not a special unique name/title that was supposedly reveal to the Prophet. It is considered the only way to describe the Creator without having to associate any attributes of any sort.

I have always heard Abaya used in Arabic countries for an all-encompassing veil,
not some svelte outfit as pictured by dzj's post.

I know: I wore it in Iraq & Syria for example.

Looks similar to the Iranian chador. Nobody mentioned that one so far.

Maybe there is some Afghan variant called abaya.

But the term usually refers to the Arabic garment I described.

This Burqa is not a Pashtun dress...Pashtuns have their own traditional dress which is called saddar or paronay....Of course, the purdah has Arab pagan origin....Here I see some Arab women wearing it and a lot others are telling me are these women abnormal...to them it is not normal segregating one's self from the environment...

Pashtun women need to use their potential for their own benefit and for the benefit of Pashtuns...They are rational enough to make their own decisions and are not dependent on medieval views to distniguish between right and wrong...It is not good living in some bygone age...

Illah means God

Allah literally means The God.

Even pagan mythologies and various mysterious ultimately believe in a Supreme God. Because if it were true for them that the gods were of equal power then the world would have no order but be in total chaotic flux without space time continuum...


so you'd like to think that monotheism came from polytheism but we believe that all religions began with belief in One God until each was corrupted by the devil...Christianity being the most recent example. If you study it's history, you will find that most catholic rituals and symbols have very strong pagan influence..in most cases, like baptisim, they are exactly like the old religions of then, like Mitra. Westerners habitually transpose christain history unto Islam without even checking the records because they are so sure that all religions have the same fate. This is because they believe in their own myths about the history of this planet...which is shrouded in absolute mystery...but you'd think that we are the most advanced generation of the entire human history so naturally you'd take this logic backwards and suppose that religion is actually evolving in a progressive and linear fashion from A to B to C to D...this is how your mind words but not how things come to be in reality.

You are no one to tell my sister and mother and the rest of Pashtanae what is the right thing to do...If you are suffering from some sense of insecurity about your own womenfolk or are not having any other concept of a woman except in terms of sex, etc., that is misguided ....
