No you are right.....chadari is what people back home call it....people in the West use the western word for it, 'burqa.' so if i was back in Kabul or Laghman, we would call it chadari, and calling it burqa, no one would know what i would be referring to as.

Yeah chadaris come in different colors:

Black, blue, yellow, orange, green, white, and red. I saw all the colors there. In Laghman, women only wear either blue or white

But in Kabul some women are fashion-e so they like to wear the various colors of it......but i heard its more expensive

come one sis! Kabul has lots of Pashtuns not a few families!
I remember in civil war era and taliban era every women in Kabul wore burqa and the same was for all other provinces but its not the same now.
Pashtuns of Kabul dress the same as other residents, there is no difference.

kabul is full of chadaris and i guess chadari might actually have come form kabul itself and tajiks etc also wear chadari and yeah you are right about kabul being so called modernised but still chadari is the main thing for most women.

Yes, majority of women in Kabul wear it......go to the streets and you will see what i am talking about. In fact, majority of chadaris are made in Kabul City, there are many of their shops there.

Kakargirl, Kabul has mostly of 'everyone' not just Tajiks, etc. Chadari in fact has nothing to do with ones ethnicity. During Taliban, not just Pashtun women wore it, Hazaras, Aimaqs, Tajiks, Uzbeks, Sikh Afghans even wore it. Till today, i have seen majority of Farsizubans wear it too.

                  Thats not completely true.

Okay, it is true that many women in Kabul City have started to wear Western Clothes....but it is pretty modest western clothing. They dont wear tight jeans, they wear long, covered tops over, and they wear scarf with them.....thats because in Kabul women are going to work, going to university, and such.

But to say that about Kabul, not true! Yes, you will see countless, many women in Kabul wearing chadaris.....girls, women, elder women, still wear it.

Like I said, chadari has not only been for Pashtun women, others wear it too.

Exactly! Even majority of Farsizuban prefer to wear chadari and consider it as an insult if they dont.

You cannot compare Helmand with Kabul City. You cannot compare a rural, village life to a city life.

Yes, i agree that Kabul has changed. I never said it didnt. Now whether you think its a bad or good thing, depends on you.

Yes, chadari is seen in Kabul City. Yes, there are shops there that sell hundreds and hundreds of them. Majority are even made there.

If you want, I can ask my fiance to take a photo before he goes to work today.

No, thinking your dad was lying, never even crossed my mind, because i respect and have ehtaram towards my elders.
