  • agreed with kushan. India as a name never existed, yes buddhist/hindus lived in the region, but does that make them similar to present day indian? obviously no. In ancient times there were many hindus living in the dardic areas, even some say Kalash religion is proto vedic/hindu, however ethnically/culturally/language wise these lands were and are clearly different from the indian plains, which start from Punjab

        • The ancient kings of the land called it Bharat after the name of King Bharat who had conquered the whole land. By ancient kings I mean the Aryans. Now the Aryans themselves were foreigners who settled by the river Sindhu. It is through mispronunciation that Sindhu became 'Hindu' or 'Indus' (Hinduism is therefore rather a way if life of the people who lived by the Sindhu than a religion, at least, that was what it was originally) and from there we have the names 'Hindusthan' and 'India.' This is all during very ancient times. When the Aryans were settling into the region and if as you said the area was called Aryana then it is true that the Pashtun region was part of India, as India was founded by the Aryans.

            • ^ vedic religion was founded by the aryans, however Dravdians in India have existed for thousands and thousands of years before that, in fact Dravdians are the true people of India. Pakistanis and North indians are a mix of Dravidian and people who came from outside, south Indian are more purer Dravidian on average, though they themselves are also mixed. Pashtuns maybe related to aryans, but I really doubt they were dravdians. There is south indian component in pashtun genes, however that is more then 20000 years old

Point is, pashtun way of life, culture, language etc.. itself makes them different from Indians. Punjabis are 100% indian

              • What Punjabi's? You can't generalize the people of Punjab that is like generalizing the people of KPK each is diverse and unique.

                  • Britain called the region "British India" long ago this place was called India. India comes from the word "Hind" or "Hindia" or basically from the word Hindu, Hind, Hindia, Hindu, Hindustan or the land of hindus. The land of hind, the land of indian or hindian. The region was a polytheistic region and Hindusim being an old religion india was named after hinduism because of large number of hindu followers in the region.

                      • What exactly is Indian culture? Is it the use of the bhindhi? Because I know many Pashtuns even today that use it.

                        • here you go:

he culture of India refers to the way of life of the people of India. India's languages, religions, dance, music, architecture, food, and customs differ from place to place within the country. • "India, being a multi-cultural and multi-religious society, celebrates holidays and festivals of various religions" Note the word Multi Cultural, this entire article does not account for all the various ethnicity that live within India, India as a whole is quite big and diverse. Also like I said earlier I find many similarities between the two cultures as a whole. "Pashtuns are a Central Asian ethnic group not south asian. And since when were pashtuns located in India in ancient times? That is not our homeland." Do you even know where Central Asia is Khushan please google it for me, actually never mind I'll get it for you Highlighted in Purple is Central Asia and highlighted in red is South Asia.
