This is an interesting thread, and I look forward to the input. The majority of our male members are from Pashtunkhwa, and the majority of our female members are from Afghanistan. Interesting combo.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

um hard question to answer but i think mabey 1 reason is that a lot of the time when we discuss things that are about pashtuns we tend only to focus on the pashtuns in afghanistan and also all the news debates etc are based also on afghanistan like some things may be going on across the border but we dont seem to have that much intrest in it.

If - following a crude stereotype - female members don't like news/politics, is there enough going on in the forum to interest them?

Do we need a sub-section with focus on Pashtunkhwa issues or does that begin to become divisive?

I'm thrashing out the points to get to a better understanding. The thing is I don't think we can totally *ignore* the lack of participation of females from Pashtunkhwa on this forum. It's a point that needs debating.

i dont think so, like most of the females are on the hujra random thoughts a lot of the time or making threads in the hujra. they do not seem to participate in much else.

that will be devisive and a bad idea from my perspective.

i think what we need to focus on is what we can offer more to get them to participate.

you must admit despite what anyone says there is still a bit of a difference between the two cultures, albeit both pashtun. and under certain topics there is some arrogance thrown in one form or the other. it's easy to ban people or tell them off, but people back home (women in particular) have enough on their plate and only come online for lighthearted interaction. they'd go mental if all they ever did was fight, gossip, argue, and worry.

and also, not everyone is as intellectual as they claim to be and can easily be wrong in ideology, and "intellectual conversations" aren't really intellectual but just someone who speaks better english than the other showing arrogance in their way of writing/talk.

btw I love the term "intellectual conversation" used on forums, it puts a massive grin on my face every time :D

^Not everything need be high-brow pretension, I quite agree.

                      What are the light-hearted/clean-fun alternatives?

Do we need more arcade games/songs/threads devoted to Salman Khan? What is the missing ingredient?

no that is just mixing indian culture or what ever culture that is. best thing would be to ask the pashtun girls what they like doing best and what they enjoy and then see if you ccan incoporate it into the forum?
