What I'm saying is that your photo is a Persian woman in Afghanistan, not a Pashtun woman.

            • the point is that veiling is undoubtedly an age-old pashtun tradition but the sophiscated chadari has been traditionally, in afghanistan, a practice primarily of farsizaban women and later adopted by pashtuns.

that is not to say, however, that covering and veiling in itself is not a historical pashtun tradition, because it is and there is an overwhelming amount of evidence for this.

If you would argue that Pashtun lands have always been in war, I'd say not. Only in recent history has there been a constant struggle for its resources and other things.

Its origins would be foreign, and therefore not an indigenous tradition.

Many Anthropologists would disagree; some would argue that martial prowess is how societies became viable.

It is a simple fact that Pashtun women did not wear any veil traditionally.

Your use of paintings from the 18th century is as pointless as these pictures from the 16th century Akbernama, that show Kabuli women without veils.

you realize that Kabul city was entirely a Tajik city during the 1500's right?!?!?!?!

Read what Babur says, he used to call the entire area of what's now known as Afghanistan as "Kabul" but when it came to the CITY itself, he identified it's inhabitants as TAJIKS, not Pashtuns.

In the country of Kābul there are many and various tribes. Its valleys and plains are inhabited by Tūrks, Aimāks, and Arabs. In the city and the greater part of the villages, the population consists of Tājiks . Many other of the villages and districts are occupied by Pashāis, Parāchis, Tājiks, Berekis, and Afghans. In the hill-country to the west, reside the Hazāras and Nukderis. Among the Hazāra and Nukderi tribes, there are some who speak the Moghul language. In the hill-country to the north-east lies Kaferistān, such as Kattor and Gebrek. To the south is Afghanistān... There are eleven or twelve different languages spoken in Kābul: Arabic, Persian, Tūrki, Moghuli, Hindi, Afghani, Pashāi, Parāchi, Geberi, Bereki, and Lamghāni...[24]
                  —Babur, 1525

Showing a picture by Akbar's court which would most likely be depicting Tajiks, and not Pashtuns is not proof of what Pashtuns themselves used to do; FURTHERMORE

your own reference disproves your claim .....there are actually NO WOMEN AT ALL in your miniature. You have TERRIBLE eyes.

It seems you're not from a Pashtun or Pashtun related background; it's usually outsiders who have this habit of conglomerating current regions of Afghanistan as being all historically Pashtun.
