Why should men not do their part? I do my part, I know countless women who do - yet that doesn't keep men from harassing women - be she naked, be she covered.

If a man has bad intentions and no Haya, he will disrespect a woman, no matter if she wears Hijab or not. Because if he HAD Haya he wouldn't look at women with such an eye in the first place and lower his gaze. Waqt'e ke Adam behaya baasha, na Hijab faida mekona na Qaid o Bas. Hijabis do not face as many insults as non-Hijabis do. I am born in New York, I have friends that teased women with skin tight clothes. The minute a Hijabi passed "Na, she religious don't mess with her". So my observations(real) tell me that Hijab helps out a woman.
Your (real) experiences are limited to New York and your friends. My experiences are concerned with the harassment of women folk in general, wherever they live or whatever dress they wear. While they cover their heads, they do wear Jeans. So what would you say then?If covering the body would save one from men, why are the Hijab-wearing women on this thread complaining? More importantly, why women get sexually assaulted in Muslim countries?

Fire's pretty dangerous, too, you don't see men jumping into that.

I know it is dangerous for men, brother. That's why they need to lower their gaze and stay away rather than flirting with women who 'expose themselves'.

How many Hijab wearing women do you see complaining? I can start naming women members here in this Forum that will agree that Hijab keeps them safe for unwanted and improper touches.

All I am arguing is that Hijab in general keeps you away from these kind of things. If you want to beautify yourself than expect the boys on the block to ask you to come over here since they will assume it is them who you are trying to impress. Just like how millions of women in New York try to do. They wear those skin tight clothes to impress men and ask for attention.

You cant disagree with that now can you?
Lol..... someone here even went to the extent of asking women not to respond to a perverted person to maintain her dignity..rape a women and blame it on her cosmetics and tight clothing. Is that what you think? What millions of women in New York or thousands of girls in Pekhawar do is their personal matter.Men should not take advantage of that.Women have the right to wear lipstick if it pleases them. Why a man would think that she wore the lipstick for him?And even if she does, no man has the right to look down upon her in an undignified manner. What about the women who are sexually abused inside the four walls of their houses? Would you still blame it on wearing/not-wearing Hijab or skin-tight clothing?

~sighs~ Clearly, EVERYTHING that we women do is to impress and please men. What's worse, MEN are telling us why we WOMEN dress the way we want/choose to dress. Sorry to break it to the world -- for the fiftieth time on PashtunForums -- but this world actually does not revolve around men that men with perverted minds think that everything a woman does (her clothing, whether tight or not, her shoes, her style of walking, her opinions, etc. etc.) are to impress men or attract their attention. Hell, I certainly don't do ANYTHING to attract anyone. There's only one man on earth for whom I'd cross every single limit in impressing, but so far, I haven't had to make any moves to impress him. And guess what - I'm not the only woman who is like this!

But, nooo ... young boys who have barely seen much and have never lived inside a woman's mind would rather come here and tell us why women wear what they wear. Quite amusing, I tell you.

                  Good analogy, Mayana.

I found out last week that, according to psychology, humans are naturally attracted to things that are dangerous and risky. If women are naturally dangerous as some of us claim they are, then no matter WHAT a woman does, she'll remain naturally dangerous and the man will remain naturally attracted to her, even if she's covered completely. No?

                  Let's stop contradicting ourselves, folks.

This discussion reminds of me a quote I read somewhere, a part of which is "Women are naturally seductive and dangerously sexy" (it's a reference to women's portrayal in religions and cultures throughout human history and why they were (and still are in some cultures) kept uneducated for so long).

Nah man, this reasoning of "She is wearing make-up and asking for it" does not work for Muslim men.

What are you gonna do, on judgment day you're gonna tell Allah swt that Ashely was wearing booty-shorts and basically was begging for the attention you willingly gave her? No. This is about you actions as a Muslim man. Whether or not women expose themselves YOU as a Muslim man are supposed to lower your gaze.
This theory would also imply that you can drink alcohol just because there is alcohol available in front of you and it's "calling your name". This is not about the actions of others, this is about your self-control as a Muslim man in today's society.

I believe I am being very clear.

This is how Allah swt has made women, even without makeup, they're beautiful. I don't want to be "taking all men's attention". If a man has no shame he will give women unwanted attention. And that is the kind of attention we're discussing here. I think none of us girls here are begging for attention the way you describe it - we have self-respect.

At the end, it is like that typical Pashto analogy, Laka Patang au Dewa.. Notice how 'Patang' is masculine in grammar and Dewa is feminine.

Believe me or not I have friends who do not bother Hijabi girls because they have this mindset that they are religious so they cant beat. I think you know the rest.
So I don't wear Hijab and I don't complain from men. They have been really kind to me even though I am a woman biologically. Yet I can't ignore those millions of women (again covered or uncovered, ugly or pretty, fat or thin, seductive or unseductive, boring or exciting etc) who have been abused by billions of men across the globe. You friend is an exception and in discussions like these we often tend to talk about the general attitude of the people, not the specific ones.

But just because some people DO that still doesn't make it ok for Muslim men to hit on them. I have seen Muslim men hitting on Hijabi girls too, if that bursts your bubble.
