Its so ironic that all the proposals that i had so far, each guy, had been involved with at least 3 serious relationships. While i have never dated anyone nor has it even crossed my mind. Every family that comes to my parents, have said they wanted a girl that is pretty, educated, good and obedient.

Its funny that they are coming for someone who has kept those things from herself, but their very own son has done all the things in the book. It kinda makes you wonder. I really dont know if those families know what things their own kids have been involved in, or they are just simply living in denial.

btw, i dont think all the girls and guys back home are good and angel like. Nor do i think all the girls and guys here in the West are bad...it is a very unfair generalization. It really depends on how the person grew up, their environment, how they want to carry themselves, how much they value culture and religion, and character.

It's the saddest when our own girls go around saying that girls in the West have "messed around" with guys.. and this coming from girls in the West.. sighh.. ironic, at least.

You're right. In fact, a lot of girls don't 'mess around' with guys, especially in the West. Oh and just so that everyone knows, the same number of girls back here (from a lot of social backgrounds) 'mess around' with guys. The leaders in this regard are girls from convent (all-girls) schools.

By the way, I'm surprised that in a thread called "import brides" no one has mentioned the real import brides yet.

It's just sad coming from a girl in the west, that implies that you include yourself and most of the girls around you - since those are the girls you base your judgments on and those are the girls you know and you can speak for. And regarding the girls in the East, I don't know enough to judge whether or not they "mess around" or not.

On a different note, can you please explain what you mean by "messing around"?

No, I will sit here and tell you that there are MANY differences between girls in the East and in the West. What some Westerners might do in public, some Easterners might do in private

You are saying that the majority of Pashtun girls in the West date.

For one, you have been hanging around the wrong girls - just because one is surrounded by bad people, it doesn't mean that everyone is bad. I know girls in my very college who don't only wear Hijab but a Niqaab, I know girls who won't even touch a guy, I know girls who won't buy an item at a store because the only register there is has a male cashier. And MOST of the Afghan girls I know do not date and "mess around" whatever that is supposed to mean. And I know a LOT. And you are trying to tell me that nearly everyone of us has dated?

And.. living in the West, what can guarantee you that the girls back home don't date? Just because you don't SEE it it doesn't mean that it doesn't happen; just because you don't HEAR it, it doesn't mean that it doesn't happen.

By saying that "majority of the girls in the West mess around", you slap me in the face, you slap all your Pashtun sisters living in the West in the face - and most ironically, you slap yourself in the face, saying that YOU yourself have most likely "messed around" by your very own definition. And by doing so, you insult yourself and your kind. It is a shame that we Afghans and Pashtuns have learned to reduce each other to whhores and pimps. It's a shame that we women reduce eachother to whhores and tolerate whatever men do because they are guys and we are girls. Either judge others by the standard you judge yourself by or judge yourself by the standard you judge others by.

And if you're gonna talk bad about Pashtun girls, please, speak for yourself. There's plenty of fish in the sea but if you hang around by the gutter you'll see neither the sea nor the fish.

If we don't respect one another, how can we expect others to respect us? Dagha mu ezat day, dagha mu Nang day, dagha mu Ghairat day? Au bia haryaani nastih yaast chi Naarina wali zmuzh Ezat nakayi?! If women reduce each others to whhores, why would men even begin to respect us? Shame on anyone who insults Pashtun women like this.
