Weddings back home tend to be 'semi-segregrated' unless it's marriage between people in the same extended family.

not so sure how you can enjo a wedding when so many non muharram are staring at you.

In reality what happens is that a) there isn't any dancing or b) the only ones that do dance are the really small kids or the really older people as both age groups are at the stage in life whether embarrassing themselves in public isn't an issue

I've been to a few like that actually, where for various reasons i.e religious beliefs/recent family bereavement there was little or no dancing. What's worse is when they play music but no one dances......I have to restrain myself from getting up myself :p

One of my best friends had hers like that. It was a relief sitting in the hall, knowing the men were now too tired to even think of coming in. That we could freely walk into the carpark and not worry about men standing around their cars, or waiting around for their women to return. The only male you would see in the evening would be the groom, and he too comes when most have left. It isn't a bad way of doing it ... I think.

I have a lot to say, but my fingers are tired ...

In my Henna night men and women were together but they were all families. In wedding it was separated because friends, colleagues and etcetera were invited as well. That's the reason why I prefer only and only inviting families and very close friends to a wedding because the mixed reception (Henna night) was just awesome! With strangers you can't have that much fun.

^ LOL, I surely will! I can't tell how much fun I had in Afghanistan! We went to Jalalabad, Laghman, Paghman, Qargha, Kabul and my God Afghanistan is blessed with breath-taking beauty! Inshahlah in few months I will go again for my uncle's wedding and next time I plan to go to at least Badakhshan, Bamiyan and Mazar! :D

To the topic : Haram in Islam therefor it is to be rejected for every mumin to do such.

And it is completely strange to me as pashtun muslim

Two years back, before this site had some changes and upgrade, the original poster who made the thread does not show up

                                don't fake the funk, laila.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.
