Re: Are men and women together in your weddings?

i know that in west afghan weddings are mixed, why is it so?
*They have westren impacts on them?
      or
*it is impossible to arrange segregated weddings?

I think you prefer tajiks because they are good looking?

You are lodhi, as for as i know magority of lodhis are concentrated in punjab with complete transformation of them to punjabi culture.

I dont believe that hating an entire race of tajiks or punjabis is a right thing. Good people r surely among them.

^ If it was up to Tajiks in Afghanistan especially then today even in Afghanistan weddings would have been mixed. Unfortunately Pukhtoons who interacted with Tajiks too much are even worse when it comes to (mixed) marriages.

nope it depends older families like mine are extremely strict about this kind of stuff, you go into the cities the culture becomes more mix and thats true for pretty much all ethnicities. The traditions and cultures of people belonging to specific ethnicities are more stronger in rural areas because they are less influenced by the global culture and therefore tend to be more conservative

              Agreed
Most of the typical pashtuns who are strict followers of pakhtunwali, are always very religous.

religion does but that would be more true for all the arab countries and all those areas, in pakistan india Afghanistan, these areas culture is more dominant in our daily lives than religion. That is one of the main reasons why we have way more ethnicities in these regions as compared to arab countries because people here differentiate among each other with respect to culture more than they feel united by the religion.

in the excuse of having separate sections for the genders, women dress in skimpiest things out there and men do what they please and then at the end of the day many copies of the entire session is distributed to random members of the related families for every one to enjoy according to their own time and luxury.
meh, i am not going to any one's wedding.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

You serious GoPashtunGo? I watched a wedding video a while ago and the nearly the entire video showed a woman dancing. The amount of editing done to that video to bring that woman on the scene was hilarious. She would even appear as a still in the corner of the screen even though someone else was dancing. From her eating, to her instructing other members of the family, to her sitting and standing, none of it was missed I tell ya. I almost thought she was the bride, she wore white too. Maybe the camera man thought the same?

To make things worse, she was not even related to the bride or the groom ...

That's good to hear. I think we work the same.

How we are: I have never been to a mixed party and don't plan to either. To top it off, I don't go to many parties, Afghan ones I avoid totally (so far at least). And I am sure you know where I am coming from, with snake like tongues some women have.

Depends on the wedding really and where it is/where it is. I don't think any weddings in my family that have taken place in the west (which admittedly is quite a rarity and usually we all go back to pak for them) have not been segregated. Weddings back home tend to be 'semi-segregrated' unless it's marriage between people in the same extended family.
