  • Are men and women together in your weddings?

In California, i have never been to a seperated gender wedding. Sure the house parties are seperated, but i have never seen a wedding that is not mixed. Well except, back home.

Usually not seperate but there is an imaginary divide amongst the people (guys go to one side and gals to another naturally) but I would prefer weddings to be seperate. It makes it kinda difficult for the hijabi's to go all out at a mixed wedding lol
I desire that which is Just - House of Dukemina.

In our weddings, men and women are seperate and THEY SHOULD STAY SEPERATE.

I don't want boys and men coming to our place and looking at the females..I just hate it...its not a Pashtun thing.
Some boys ask their sisters to take pictures off girls in their Phone now, and then they put it on Interent :x .

isn't that like living in the stone age. I mean all guys look at girls, you look at girls and etc. It's upto the person to lower their gaze.

Re: Are men and women together in your weddings?

Back home (by which I mean the villages in Swat where I lived until I was 12 years old), the weddings are always separate. Women are always inside the home, and the only males allowed are boys under the age of, say, 15.

Here in the U.S. in the state and city I live, for the weddings/gatherings I go to, it depends entirely on who is hosting it. The more educated ones, who tend to be Pukhtuns from Afghanistan and Peshawar, allow gender-mixing; the less educated ones, who tend to be from Swat (I'm from Swat), don't allow it.

And in reality, these same boys and girls who are forbidden from seeing each other at these gatherings actually attend the same schools and colleges :| Some of us even go to the same mosques, where we are often allowed to mingle. (Not all mosques I go to allow inter-mingling; only some do.)

So, really, it all depends on the family who is hosting the wedding/party.

We got 2 places in our village.
All the females go to our house and all the men go to our beetak (guesthouse).
I would hate if random men are watching my family dancing.
We don't even allow camaras now. only family members can use a camara

It really just depends on the bride's and groom's parties. I've been to some where they are completely segregated and I've also been to others where I have seen stuff that I shall not share lol.

I dunno though, the ones where I can't share stuff are like 3rd generation people who grew up here. There ancestors moved to the West in the 40's or 50's.
