Pashtunwali is like unwritten rule that everybody follows.

But will other pashtuns reconize & recognize an Atheist-Pashtun as a pashtun?

          Also, did Islam influence Pashtunwali?

No I don't have any identity issue.
I am aware that pashtuns aren't always practicing Islam.

But I would like to know other pashtuns' opinion on it.

On a side note, I always figured you as a guy lol

why is that people who just take religion on a very light note or those who just don't want to associate themselves with religion consider themselves atheist?
is that what atheist is called? people having the attitude of don't care consider it literally fashionable to tag them with atheist. moran people
atheist are those who lost their soul plus religion. isn't Atheism a belief system too?

there was a great leftist pashtun scholar and giant literature figure Qalandar Mohmand who was a Qadyani. he is remembered with great zeal due to his struggle for leftist pashtun struggle and pashto literature. Qadyani are the most hated people in pakistani and are regularly prosecuted, now if a Qadyani can coexist in a conservative pashtun society an atheist can too.
PDPA, parchami and khalq were officialy atheist.

No, Atheism is simply a lack in belief of God. It is not a belief system.
Anybody who doesn't believe in God or Gods, is an atheist.
                    Atheist do adopt other philosophies.

                    Lost their soul?

Depends on how you define a Pashtun. What's your definition of a Pashtun?

The great Ghani Khan once said:

"Pashtun is not merely a race but, in fact, a state of mind; there is a Pashtun lying inside every man, who at times wakes up and overpowers him."
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

How would you consider pre-islamic pashtuns?

People usually associate Pashtun's great victories with Islam.
But Alexander struggled with pre-islamic pashtuns.
Alot of great remarks about Pashtun people come from that time.

Is pashtun resilience really because of Islam?

There is no documented Pre Islamic source that mentions Pashtuns which explains why Islamic beliefs is a tenant of Pashtunwali.

Do believe Alexander was fighting some other people?

Alexander wrote a letter to his mother:

While in fight with pakhtuns in arachosia (now kandahar) and said, I am involved in the land of leonine (lion-like) and brave people, where every foot of the ground is like a well of steel, confronting my soldiers. You have brought only one son into the world but everyone in this land can be called an Alexander.

“May God keep you away from the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger, and the revenge of the Afghans.”
                            – Alexander the Great.

I never met or heard of an afghan who actually practices pure Islam.
They mostly practice their own version of it.
