About how tied are pashtuns & their culture to Islam

Can it be separated?

I know the pashtun/afghan communists were atheists.
How did they differ from other pashtuns, besides following islamic tenants?

My parents are devout muslims. None of my family were involved with communism

do your parents know that you are an atheist?
and if yes, what is their opinion and reaction?

My parents tell me it's because Afghans or Pashtuns were isolated from each other because they lived in valleys, blocked off by the mountains.
So everyone developed differently.

In the examples Khushal's gave ...these tribes are in relative proximity of each other so the predictions made by thus hypothesis doesn't align with the apparent evidence.

Why do we have so many different dialects in Pashto. Jaji, Mangal, Zadran, Wazir all have different dialects and live right next to each other. Whats up with that. Did each tribe speak a different language and were pashtunized like those tribes in Nuristan who speak numerous different languages and are slowly being pashtunized.

I think you maybe onto something. Because the Barakis have their own language distinct from Pashto but speak their own variety of Pashto. I actually believe Pashto began as some type of Pidgin language from remnant languages but I wouldn't even call this a hypothesis ...more like a thought experiment at best. It would explain why Pashto has words like tang tkor or luts puts ...which are no longer in common use but resemble characteristics of a pidgi speak.

No, Atheism is simply a lack in belief of God. It is not a belief system.
Anybody who doesn't believe in God or Gods, is an atheist.
Atheist do adopt other philosophies.

There is a difference between being an Atheist and Believing in the Theory of Evolution.

Being Atheist means that you are not convinced about the idea of God exists.

There are some muslims, christians, Buddhists, Hindus that believe in evolution.

That does not make sense. People still moved around and fought battles with each other. Mangal, Zazai and Turai have been fighting over land since any one can remember. The same with Kharoti and Wazir and Turai and Bangash.

Look at the Great Britain. Why do the English, the Scotts, the Welsh and the Irish have different accents. Were their languages originally English?

Great Britains is composed of multiple nations.
The English nation conquered the other nations.
Each nation(English, Welsh, Scotts, Irish) occupy different Islands & Corners of Great Britain.
They speak different languages & they ethnically different

Pashtuns are Isolationists. If they weren't, they wouldn't have devided themselves as tribes. AAAAAzai, BBBBBzai, CCCCCzai etc....
There is none of this other countries, where people regularly move around & communicate with the rest of the nation.

Also, Geographically it does make sense. Afghanistan discourages travel.
But things have changed thanks to cars & 4x4.
Not to mention, People in the USA speak with different accents of English depending in what area they live.
And English was already a well established language.
