The most common definition of religion is that first definition. That is the definition of religion used when talking about Islam, or Christianity. There are differrng definitions of 'religion' that could possibly be used to describe atheism -- but those are *not* the definitions that you are using here. It is dishonest to claim that atheism is a religion, as it is simply the absence of that very thing -- by definition.

I have not taken any such stance. I have taken the stance that the evidence does not indicate the existence of such a thing. That is a huge difference.

There is your misunderstanding again. Most atheists have a moral system, and value things more than themselves. You are using a flawed description and then using that as a reason to reject what they are. Atheists simply get their morals from a different source -- one that theists often like to pretend does not exist. It is entirely possibly to build a moral system out of logic, and compassion, and with no need for a god.

It's not important to assume that atheists are only atheists because they are arrogant, homosexual, immoral, angry, stupid or have some sort of superiority conflict. The same way it's not necessary to burn the quraan in order to make a statement about something that you don't agree with in Islam.

Be honest, with yourself, if not with us. This thread had no intention of discussing certain issues. It was a one-sided insult to atheists, and was created to generate controversy and rile people up -- that's why there are no options to the poll that are less than negative -- and it even includes unrelated insults such as the claim that all atheists are homosexual. This was not about discussion or informing anyone about anything.
