The exact quote he actually said is quite different in meaning from what you misquoted.

You might want to crack a history book yourself. While money and power were motivations for many wars, religion has caused more then it's fair share of wars.

But your statement was 'All the wars', not 'some of the wars'. You stated that no war was ever started because of religion, not no war was ever started because of Islam (which is quite a strange thing to say in a post 9-11 world). You are welcome to recant your statement, but your original statement is quite wrong.
