We Pashtuns do no want to join Afghanistan because Afghanistan is worse then Pakistan right now, we might join it when it is better since it is our native land.

Yes we are ethnic afghans blah blah, But I feel as though both countries have problems.

Pashtuns are very down to earth and thankful people. They are not closed community ,and interact and assimilate with other communities very well. Similarly they are very tolerant and accomodative of others. these characteristics make them very fitting in pakistani body and they dont feel need to think otherwise.

Strategic depth to me was a major cause...these were mostly Pakistan's intels monster in the region, thought they could use them in Afghanistan and Pashtunkhwa as a counter to india. Many Pashtuns there say it had to do with making money..it was a nice double game for the army, get dollars for the mess they created. They are probably other political reasons they had. I suggest you go check some interviews with Afzal Khan Lala, Mashar Mahmod khan, and even the wali of swat. In fact wali of swat clearly pointed out that it was the army who were to blame for this. During Musharraf's regime they let the taliban spread in the region. In fact, here look at this

Bottom line is that none of them favoured Pashtuns, and we suffered and continue to do so.

Jodigul you are just saying blanket statements, that has no effect on policy. Please be realistic. How was the treatment of the IDPs in Panjab, and Sindh? Please don't sugarcoat that, because I clearly remember the news, and I am not the only one.

This is a very deeeeeeep game my bro, no buddy knows whats going on. Because of this whole War On Terror, many of us Pashtuns have become Politicians, taking one side and the other, fighting our own brothers. Only Allah knows whats happening, and who's right and who's wrong.

^Look, I feel as though ISI and the Army is root of all problems.

I feel as though Pakistan and Afghan citizens are ALL innocents, we need to elect a proper government that represents us.

How many of my innocent brothers got displaced in swat because of the terrorist army we have? Our citizens were tortured by the army.

I have friends who are eye-witnesses, if you spoke Pashto, you were pulled to the side in disrespected in Swat. We had non-Pashtun men entering our pride Pashtun houses in swat and going through our houses.

Well who wants to allow "terrorists" to enter into their areas. Its not that punjab and sindh dont allow pashtuns (there r million of pashtuns there). Within IDPs talibans were also hiding in large numbers. They bear the brunt because of bad reputation. In similar fashion bad reputed mehsuds are kicked every where in pakistan.

Instead punjab governament provided huge financial assistance to IDPs.

Under Mr.10% ruling, what can Pakistan do? Its a failed government. Pakistan can do everything on its own, but just like Afghanistan is ruined by this whole war on terror, so is Pakistan.
Pakistan and Afghanistan are twin brothers, Karzai is a tool and so is Zardari, Pakistan is fighting its war and many Pashtuns are suffering, so is Afghanistan and many Pashtuns are suffering.

Lets not get the army into this, because army does its job. Yes, there are people in Army that are evil, but you must respect what they have sacrificed for us Pashtuns. Swat was burning in hellfire and army has done its job, in Waziristan it did its job, and poeple from Kurram agency are begging the Army to come in and rid them from the millitants. I respect these soilders because they drop blood only for our tomorrow.

exactly, there was also an attack on one of the IDP centers, but army took care of it.

Swat please tell me you are kidding about the army? Where was mr 10 % when this mess was injected in Afghanistan and Pashtunkhwa...army regimes had just as guilty of a hand. And foreign policy in Pakistan has always firmly been in the hands of intel agencies -> ISI and the army. This is a foregone conclusion in Pakistan. It is the most corrupt instituion in pakistan bar none (read Ayesha Siddiqui's Military Inc)...their actions in previous military conflicts don't put them in a positive light either.
Actually the people of Pashtunkhwa are telling this army that this time if you come do it right. They have called the previous operations a drama. This resonates all over Pashtunkhwa. How you are blaming the civilian government for something they did not cause is beyond me. No one is saying zardari is angel, he is not. However call a spade a spade and point out that it was the army/ISI who was a major culprit in these areas.

                          @Jodigul,
It doesn't change the treatment...and how people saw it there. When it counted they most they were sidelined.

                              Hello:

Guys what we are seeing here is no constructive debate is happening as the topic is not being discussed properly .

MY idea about The Troubles in Afghanistan is as follows:

                              Americans won't leave untill 2011.

They will Install a govet that would serve their purpose.

Indian penetration would destroy AfPak Relationship as Indians would love to Target Pakistani Assets Inside Afghanistan in order to gain control.

Afghans according to surveys are loyal to Pakistan and not to India.

Indian investments in Afghanistan may seem charming at this very stage but i believe that this "Baniya" will end up taking up the whole afghan economy which equals slavery.

                              Now Here is My solution.

Pakistan and Afghanistan Must form an alliance and greater cooperation that Afghan markets can get access to Gawadar and Karachi sea ports.

Pakistan must keep working for Long lasting peace in Afghanistan for the greater good of Afghan people.

Both Countries must agree on Military and security issues and form a joint Task force immediately.

Pakistan Must use its Influence on Taleban leaders to convince them to come to
table for negotiating the core issues ie security and Economy and Power sharing.

In the end most important is Pakistan should take Afghanistan under nuclear umbrella that No one can attack Afghan people in future provided greater steps towards stability in the country.

My Brothers and Sisters Pakistan is a Big Brother to Afghanistan and it always will be , We do love Afghans and Do not worry about those stupid jokes what people crack on the streets as those idiotic faces even crack jokes about Quaid E Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah R.A.

People don't crack stupid jokes on Jinnah, he has a questionable political career and personal life. Same goes with most of the muslim league.

You act as if Pakistan has a benign policy towards Afghanistan...reality and history will tell you that in actuality it didn't. In fact it still does not. India may not be angelic in their intentions, but don't please don't sugarcoat Pakistan's role. My Lord its as if we are sweeping the 90s right under the rug and those innocent people who have died till then died in vain. India is investing in reconstruction work, and I am skeptical of its close relations towards Northern Alliance. However, at least it doesn't send people to destroy Afghanistan.

I am sorry but this is as if people forgot a chunk of Afghanistan's and pashtun's history and came up with this flowery proposal. Pakistan will do Pashtuns and Afghanistan a huge favour, if it stops with its crazy strategic depth policy, and stop treating Afghanistan and Pashtunkhwa as its backyard to use against India. Manana
