China backs Pakistan, but there is only so much it can do.

Pakistan for example cannot have Chinese bases in Pakistan to deter foreign attacks, because the army/state is under heavy US influence and there are functional US bases operating in Pakistan. US and Chinese bases wouldn't be operating at the same time.

However the US is a bully. Most bullies are cowards and pick on the weak. When they see real power they back down, which is what may be (or may be not) happened today with China stepping in, sending a message to the US "hands off Pakistan".

      We can only speculate.

1.It should be remembered that Obama had made an election pledge to attack Pakistan to take out "terror cells".

        2. Also to note is the warring season that has begun. Summer is a forbidding time. Autumn, winter and spring are advantageous for conventional ops for the more powerful. The northern passes linking China may be closed for supplies/replenishment in the coming months.

Alright guys, my source tells me that 'Leon Panetta' contacted and told General Kayani that ''if you fail to take out the Haqqanis, we would''. He wont tell any details other than this statement e.g., i asked him the timing and method used for communication, but he wont say. Nor would he tell me anything about the counter strategy, but seemed worried over this Haqqani episode!

So yeah, they are serious this time around and i can go further in claiming that they have already done their homework and are waiting for the orders.

Pakistan has no choice but to adopt an aggressive approach, the only language these buzzers understand.

Bengal Tiger ...I really commend that you oppose the U.S./Imperial murder of Muslims , especially Pashtuns....

but what is your opinion upon the Taliban who are known for similarly heinous crimes against Muslims and have been manufactured by the ISI?

you never gave a straight answer.

I just want to know if you're really a friend of Pashtuns or just doing what Toramana says you are, and that is trying to appease Pashtun sentiments just to win favor and acceptance from Pashtuns

The Americans and Chinese aren't going to fight another Korean style war over a ****hole like Pakistan. Islamabad's Punjabi regime are little more than a gang of thieves anyway. So all the West need do is clandestinely leverage Pashtunkhwa and Balochistan separatists ambitions to destabilise Pakistan.

You guys almost sound like you're ready for war. There is going to be no such thing. The US wants the Haqqani gone. The ISI doesn't i gather for whatever reason. Its that simple. US will not invade Pakistan but it may very well go spec Ops on Haqqani locations. There is nothing the Pakistani military can do about that. They have military and technological superiority by manifolds and if you think their Spec Ops SEALS are not motivated like a defending country, you're wrong...

Also don't bank on China. It will not intervene in limited operations conducted by the US. So logically, not too many options.

Forget domestic politics and back to vietnamistan, when will the a$$wipes realized that pashtoons have never ever tolerated invaders NEVER, and will continue sticking these gals with "you know what" until these mofos run with their tail tucked between the legs, does vietnam-ISTAN comes to mind?

Amreeka after so many victories now wants to talk to Taliban, WoW!!!! my oh my!! And the talibs want the SOBs out..

I am 100% sure USA will not attack Pakistan, they cant afford it, its very risky for both

From the perspective of the US, they are losing their hegemony.
IF they wanna slow that down, they better stop getting China a deep sea military base in Gwadar and stop the pipeline from Gwadar to China.

                    That´s what I would do.
the world doesn't need bullies and takeover merchants, we need everyone to work together. just because one country has power with wealth and arms doesn't mean it has to start looking to rule over others. the journalists of the world are partly responsible for the propaganda that incites this stupidity. what america needs to do, is get back in it's box. it is the greatest hypocrite on earth and it should get it's own sh** together and start being a friend to others, not trying to control the world, keyboard warrior.

From everything I've read, my current view is that the US will at some point, maybe not right now, maybe later this year or next send ground troops to carry out an operation against the Haqqani network.

                          There are different possible scenarios.

                          1. This operation may just basically be a case of US/NATO operations which are conducted west of the Durrand Line, now being carried out east of Durrand. This means just as Karzai's Kabul government is still functioning with US operations in other parts of the country, Pakistan will still be relatively the same as it is with the current regular drone strikes but this time American ground forces active as well. That is to say there will be no Pakistani reaction, as is with the drone strikes.

                          2. The operation is carried out and inflames Waziristan and the whole of FATA, and maybe even draws in Durranis, Ghilzais west of Durrand and Pakistan goes up in complete flames.

I do not think there is going to be an all out invasion of FATA or Pakistan now, because as per US policy, the pre-operation media campaign of vilification has not happened yet. The western media are not hyping it up, or in a state of moral outrage over some "massive atrocity" carried out by Pakistan.

However it is almost certain that, at the very least, at some point in the future there will be an American ground operation against the Haqqani network.

The other thing to remember is that only a few weeks ago there was virtual all out civil war in Pakistan's biggest city, Karachi. Then the TV interview of Zulfikar Mirza who put the holy Quran above his head and made what (for Pakistanis) were shocking revelations about certain parties (MQM) seeking to destroy Pakistan. The Mirza interview was watched by millions and made people's jaws drops with disbelief.

There is definitely something ominous brewing for Pakistan.

I personally do not think, however 2011, will be that bad. It is maybe next year or the year after when things really collapse.

I could be wrong in all my opinions, and anyone else's view is as valid as mine.

Let's look at this logically. Question, do you (general you) support a US attack on FATA?

                            1. Yes.

                            2. No.

I chose no.2 for very logical reasons. Do you think that people that live in North Waziristan would want an attack?

Most of these people did reject the militants and had enough of them, of course, but no one wants more bloodshed.

How is that playing on Pashtun sentiments? Not wanting Pashtuns to be bombed is "playing" on their sentiments?

It reminds me of when the Americans exterminated a whole village and killed everyone there and destroyed every building and said "the village has been liberated".

I accept that you have infinitely far more attached with Pashtunkhwa than I do (I really don't have any), so don't be offended by anything I said. However the realities of Miranshah are far removed even from people living comfortably in Hayatbad, Peshawar in the same way wealthy middle-class Lahoris care little for the plight of Punjabis/Saraikis in poverty-stricken rural Punjab. People are suffering in FATA, people are dying.

By the way I don't understand this love for American missiles and bombs when Bacha Khan himself was a man opposed to violence.

But I accept that of course naturally you feel more for, and care more for your watan than I would.

Checkmate: Don't worry, I know who Toramana is. I first "met" him 5 years ago on another Pashtun forum called "Chaikaana".

As for Pir_Rokhan, I know him from Khyberwatch, and it was him and someone called "Shayesta" who invited me here.
Look Bengal-Tiger, if you think Paki Ranjit Singhi army is fighting for the honour of Muslims, that is your misunderstanding----They don't have the nobility and the guts to fight openly and are hatching conspiracies and fighting clandestine and proxy wars of which Pashtuns are the worst victims....all this not for Islam but for the survival of the affluent Punjabi classes in the military and civil establishment....The Punjo military officers are living like kings in their military cantonments and are making others sacrificial goats for their proxy wars...

Logiaclly thinking what is the way out from Pashtun perspective?

                            1. US-NATO leaves the region---that would be a disaustor ---imagine the situation returning to 1990s era with civil war in Afghanistan, Pashtuns again becoming refugees in Pakistan, Taleban, and Pashtun society taken back to stone-age era of Taleban---

                            2. The status-quo remains with Punjabi-Ranjit Singhi army carrying on with its proxy war and Pashtuns suffering as result rather on a larger scale---In FATA, 1,00,000 female students have quit going to school due to the Taleban terrorism.

                            3. Punjabi Ranjit Singhi army and its imperial ambitions are checked and its capacity to destablize the region is destroyed...

I think in the first case scenario, Pashtuns would suffer---not only that, the whole South Asian region is going to suffer with the spectre of nuclear war between Pakistan/Ranjit Singhistan and India further enhanced ...

In the second scenario, Pashtuns will suffer for decades to come...

The third scenario is the only safe scenario for Pashtuns in the long-run...Taleban terrorism and Punjabi Ranjit Singhi ambitions are curtailed and so destablization of Afghanistan, Pashtun areas, and the broader South Asia is pre-empted....that is the only way out---the Ranjit Singhi army is not going to stop without being severly thrashed.

So - in your eyes - you want the Farangay to fight Punjabis on behalf of Pashtuns, which means Farangay dropping bombs on FATA with Pakhtuns dying?

P.S. nowhere did I say the Punjabi army has anything to do with Islam, stop attributing things to me which I never said. My people are the biggest victims of the Punjabi army
who raped and massacred and destroyed mosques and Qurans in East Pakistan.
