  • American war against Pakistan

A decade after 9/11, there is widespread talk of an American attack against "militants" on Pakistani territory.

    1. The Pakistani foreign secretary has warned the US not to carry such an attack.

    2. A senior Senator has said if such an attack is carried out in FATA, it will make the US forget about Vietnam.

Will America attack FATA, will this escalate in to an all out America v Pakistan war.

Or will it turn into a TTP v Pakistan & America war?

The Pakistani blogosphere is alight, seriously speaking about an invasion to their country. I will post quotes and links. All forum posts are by Pakistanis unless stated.

Senate’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Chairman Senator Saleem Saifullah has said that the US will forget Vietnam if it tried to venture out in Waziristan...He said that the government was evacuating schools and hospitals in the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas, indicating that something was about to happen

    http://www.dunyanews.tv/index.php?ke...SNOaWQ9NDEyMDA=

if ever the states does decide to attack it will be with their air force . they will destroy the Pakistani military infrastructure and they wont need boots on the ground for that .

The USA does have the Power to Invade Pakistan however it would be a Bloodbath.

    Syrian Christian poster, 62 http://www.defence.pk/forums/u-s-for...ks-fata-5.html

There is no need for Pakistan to attack the US, the damage caused by a full scale confrontation against Pakistan in Afghanistan & the nearby regions will suffice.

    Post 67

they may bomb us to the ''stone age'' but they got troops garrisons in Afghanistan we will storm the porous border by the millions and shove our Aks up their @$$ and dude to the west we have the Balochs and Pathans for whom war is a temptation......

    Post, 144

And to those who keep saying that Pakistan would defeat America.....I say sweet dreams.

    Post 145

I in no way insinuated Pakistan is looking to start a war with the US, but if the US does initiate a war with Pakistan, it just wouldn't be able to handle it. Pakistanis are used to tough conditions already, I don't the American people would be prepared for the consequences of such an event. The US cannot quite simply 'afford' to get into war with Pakistan.

    Post 187

US isn't going to attack Pakistan because they simply don't need too. And if they do, that will be on a limited scale like they did in case of Osama and the only thing we Pakistanis are going to do about it is repeat the same thing " if this happens again, we will keep our options open" lol. We need to understand something, our army, government, every one in the bureaucracy from top to bottom is in bed with the US. I will be really surprised if our government and the army hasn't already given them a nod. The hot air from our side is usually for public consumption.

    Post 189

    There is another thread titled:

HOW TO DEAL AGAINST A POSSIBLE US INVASION OF PAKISTAN
Lately there has been a lot of talk about US invasion of FATA.

We could of course say that it would never happen(i wish it were true) but keeping US track record in mind it is very possible.

So now the question arises what would be our reaction if US invades FATA. How can we defend ourselves ?

    Post post 1, http://www.defence.pk/forums/u-s-for...-pakistan.html
@ thread, I don't think US going to attack Pakistan. Looking at current US situation, that is terrible position of economy, stucked badly in wars, jobless people in US, increasing poverty, etc, it is impossible for US to attack world's 7th powerful country with huge professional army, world's powerful intelligence agency, heavily populated, for atleast 4 decades.

    Post 16

Its a very serious matter. What are our options if US invades FATA. Would we remain quiet just like the way we do on drones or OBL raid.
    Post 19

I don't think so. Currently US is having serious economic crises, it's debt has equal it's GDP, companies are closing & alot of jobless people are there in US, poverty is increasing. So today Americans are eager to hear anything related to jobs creation instead of opening a new war front & that also with a massive military power. It will not only be a political suicide but like US will hit its own foot by loosing more billions, increase of debts on US, death of soilders & most importantly US will loose it's strategic ally.

    Post 26

America would not invade Pakistan, because they don't have legitimate reason to do so. The Abbottabad raid was only tolerated due to the "Bin Laden" factor. Otherwise America invading Pakistan would be violating international laws, Pakistan's sovereignty and a declaration of war!

    Post 27

If americans set foot on FATA and our army chooses to retaliates well then i guess it would be full fledge war and owing to our lack of long range nuclear delivery vehicles we would be the losers.

    Post 31

IF it did happen. God have mercy on Pakistan.

    Post 37

Yes US is ahead quality wise, but in quantity US has around 1,400,000 troops while Pakistan has around 850,000. US won't bring whole 1.4 troops to fight Pakistan whereas Pakistan has it's mainland there.

Only a person who is totally fool will even think that US is going to attack a powerful country as Pakistan in current situation, in my opinion US will choose to calm things down & will talk to Pakistan & perhaps increase the money for the services Pakistan does for US

    Post 54

Americans are liars and theives but not stupid. Americans could probably invade any country in the world. Pakistan is safe not because they would be able to beat americans but they would be able to give them a few more casulties than than a few rag tag afghans

Post 62 (have to agree the US regime are indeed liars and thieves)

If Pakistan is attacked they will respond against its enemies with all its force and that may include nuclear option.

    Post 64

Yeah, easy for you to say, your probably all cozy living somewhere in punjab and you can care less for the millions of People who would be killed in the event of an invasion of FATA.

The likes of your kind consider the people of FATA and KybherPakhtunkhwa as cannon fodder, but sorry to disappoint you because they are not.

    Post 77

neither india nor america would dare to invade pakistan. The only place this happens is on forums

    Post 100

its speculation america wont. Pakistanis have options we are not afghanis or iraqis we have a significant population.

    Post 121

The USA could Invade Pakistan but the problems are here compared to both Afghan and Iraq, Pakistani population is 10'x bigger 180 million the iraqi and afghan population combined is 44 mill, the USA had difficultly trying to to get the Insurgency in Iraq under control from a few thousand militants so an Insurgency in Pakistan would be Worse then Vietnam, I've been to Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and several other places and it's not hard to get a gun, next the Pakistani army is far better then Iraqi army and most of the middle east, invasion would unite the Whole country, it took about 250,000 US troops to hold Iraq, the Idea of Holding Pakistan would be around 3 million or more, not to mention both China and Iran would aid Pakistan, Invading Pakistan yes the USA could but it would be stupid the lives lost would make it hell on earth.

    Syrian Christian, post 133.

it has no attention of invading pakistan, you have seen libya use the same methodology against pakistan it won't take long for a civil war.many way's to destroy a country then war.

KARACHI: Pakistan Ambassador in UN Abdullah Hussain Haroon warned that if Pakistan would be attacked then the reaction would be counter productive, Geo News reported Saturday.

    http://www.thenews.com.pk/NewsDetail...-of-Pak-attack-

Washington, Sept 24 : The US needs Pakistan to continue its war against terrorism, and therefore the Americans should chase the Haqqanis whenever and wherever they can without provoking Islamabad, a New York Times editorial has said.

    1. I do not know, what will happen. However there has been talk of an operation against the Haqqani network for ages. Initially there were calls for Pakistan to do this operation themselves, now the US is speaking of carrying it out itself, it has now reached the point where even the prime minister and foreign minister has warned against an American operation in Waziristan.

The very fact that Pakistan is telling the US not to do this shows how little Sovereignty Pakistan has, imagine the US telling Pakistan not to carry out an operation in southern Florida whilst Pakistan bombs it every day with drones.

    2. If America does attack North Waziristan and the militants there, the entire TTP coalition which include Pashtuns, Uzbeks, Tajiks, Punjabis and have supporters all across Pakistan and Afghanistan including Karachi, Multan, Jhang, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Quetta will probably mobilize against their two enemies, the Pakistan army and the US.

It remains to be seen though if the TTP will fight the Pakistan army or will join them.

    3. Some believe as the US is virtually bankrupt they would not attack Pakistan. This is logical. However the Washington regime does not operate on logic but on greed, duplicity, a desire for world domination, and a love for murdering and massacring.

No one can say what will happen. On many previous occassions people predicted a war, or doomsday scenarios for Pakistan which did not happen. So there may be no US attack on FATA.

The underlying trend however is fundamentally things are getting worse and worse in Pakistan, with Balochistan out of control, FATA in flames, civil war in Karachi and so on.

If there is a US attack in Pakistan, it will be Pakhtuns, as usual, who will be dying.

      ARMY CHIEF CALLS EMERGENCY MEETING

ISLAMABAD: The Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Kayani called an emergency meeting of the Corps Commanders at the Army Headquarters at Rawalpindi on Sunday, DawnNews reported.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting — chaired by the Army chief and attended by all Corps Commanders and Pricipal Staff officers — was called to discuss key issues of importance and urgency, including matters related to national security and the regional peace.

      http://www.dawn.com/2011/09/25/kayan...s-meeting.html

"The meeting is mainly focusing on US threats. According to GEO the PM has also contacted all the leading political leaders to discuss the situation.

A major decision regarding our relations with US maybe in the offing?"

      Post 4, http://www.paklinks.com/gs/pakistan-...s-meeting.html

"This is just a routine meeting of corps commanders and it w'd be foolish to read too much into it despite the timing. The army just wants to be seen to be doing something/be aware of the situation at a time when relations with the US are strained as a result of recent happenings."

      Post 7.

"As much as US wants to boast, it can not make any serious incursion in Pakistan. They are out of money and now fighting among themselves to decide how to pay China on time and not default."

      Post 8

      Pakistan's army chief.

Head of US military, Mullen. There is speculation the US military will attack the Haqqani Network in FATA, Pashtuns would die in such an attack.

Mullen in the centre, during US operation to kill Osama bin Laden.

Bin Laden's alleged residence in Pakistan.

Pakistan's prime minister, Reza Gilani who has warned against a US attack on FATA.

Pakistani senator, Saleem Saifullah Khan who has warned against America attacking Pakistan.

Pakistani president, Zardari. His father-in-law was in government the last time Pakistan was conclusively defeated in a war, 1971. Though that time America and Pakistan were working together to kill Muslim Bengalis in East Pakistan, though both were defeated in the end.

Pakistani foreign secretary, Hina Khan (left) who has also spoken against US threats of attacking Pakistan, pictured with the late Richard Holbrooke, a well known American terrorist who promoted instability and war across different regions across the globe.

WILL AMERICA LAUNCH A MAJOR OPERATION IN FATA?

          Poll so far:

Yes, there will be an American "invasion" of Pakistan = 1

Yes, there will be a major US operation in FATA and war will break out = 0

Yes, there will be a major US operation in FATA but Pakistan will co-operate = 1

A limited strike in FATA against militants = 1

No, America will just keep on bombing Pakistan with drones = 1

No, America will stop all operations in Pakistan, including drones = 1

          Other = 0

So 3 out of 5 votes so far think there will be a US attack in FATA, with the US continuing on from their operation against Bin Laden.

If there is such an operation however it would militarily, have to be far larger than a small operation against one man in a single house, but a major operation consisting of many troops to take on a whole network.

If, as the majority here currently think, there is such an operation, I think it will have very dangerous consequences for the US. If it expands and becomes an all out tribal war against US troops, there can only be one winner, the tribals.

          Waziri tribesmen of Waziristan, FATA.

            Probably, but...

Tribals are legendary fighters and were even defeating the Pakistan army on a regular basis in FATA when the tribals were sympathetic to the TTP.

However when the TTP started becoming extreme and carrying out atrocities, the tribals stopped supporting them. Majority of FATA tribes now dislike the TTP and just want peace, stability and are loyal to Pakistan.

So the tribals aren't really fighting, but if the US sends its army in....then if the tribals decide to fight, they will smash the American army.

i have to agree with emkhan, after seing paki brutality, pashtun is praying to get rid of paki cruelties. to think about the otherside of the war who will be afected? where the war will be faught. the US army is already in pakistan, doing operations. it was proved a year ago when the convoy was killed in dir. US can destalise pakistan politically and break it into pieces. no attacks are needed.

There are certain special forces ready on air craft carriers in the Arabian Sea to secure the nuclear weapons IF an armed conflict escalates.

I don´t worry about the nuces, I worry about how China will react.

Militarily, the US has an advantage right now and if it wants to confront China now, it should go ahead.

Last I heard, the Baluch government in exile is in Washington and holds talks with the State Department........

I sincerely hope that the US will NOT wage war against Pakistan. I want to see US, Australian and any other allied troops pulled out of Afghanistan, we have no business there.

With Yuletide (aka Christmas, though as an atheist I prefer to use the ancient pagan name) approaching fast, I would like to see the world come together in friendship for once. How difficult is it to reach out to the person standing next to you and say, "I love you brother" or "I love you sister", does it really matter if they practice a different religion to you? Does it really matter what their appearance is, do we not all have the same aspirations in life, the same needs for food, shelter and love? Do we not all feel physical pain? Do we not all feel happiness and elation when a child is born and the depths of sadness when a loved one is taken from us?

Are we not all brothers and sisters who share a common destiny on this tiny blue and green sphere?

                        Please, no more war.

Well, an invasion is one thing, bombing Chinas navy and air force another.
                            Strengthening Taiwan another.

From the perspective of the US, they are losing their hegemony.
IF they wanna slow that down, they better stop getting China a deep sea military base in Gwadar and stop the pipeline from Gwadar to China.

                            That´s what I would do.
