There are now clear guidelines on how the Taliban will treat its prisoners as well.
"Whenever any official, soldier, contractor or worker of the slave government is captured, these prisoners cannot be attacked or harmed," it says.
"The decision on whether to seek a prisoner exchange or to release the prisoner with strong guarantees will be made by the provincial leader.
"Releasing prisoners in exchange for money is strictly prohibited.""

"Governors, district chiefs and line commanders and every member of the Mujahideen must do their best to avoid civilian deaths, civilian injuries and damage to civilian property. Great care must be taken."

    or here:

"The Mujahideen have to behave well and show proper treatment to the nation, in order to bring the hearts of civilian muslims closer to them. The mujahideen must avoid discrimination based on tribal roots, language or their geographic background."

like i say about massoud. he was either evil because he let his men act they way they did or he was a horrible leader because his men didnt listen to him. one way or the other, it didn't look good for massoud nor does it look good for mullah omar.

during the taliban regime, his men would kill someone for kidnapping. i wonder if his men will now kill these ttp folks for doing the same thing they would of executed someone for 10 years ago. unlikely.

      • Theirs alot of bandits, and criminals who get labeled as "Talib". Hell, if I was a criminal leader, in a gang their I would say that I was a Talib. The government would probably do a deal with them, then a bunch of bandits.

all i have been hearing is that the ttp have sworn loyalty to mullah omar, and by extention the ttp's war against the paki army proves that mullah omar is not being used by pakistan. its not about mullah omar giving the order. thats as unlikely as david petraeus giving some soldier an order to shoot a random afghan on the side of the road.

so if the ttp have sworn loyalty to mullah omar. unless mullah omar somehow said hey no thanks, than their actions define mullah omar. the masjid bombings, the kidnappings.

I agree, its a reasonable thing for a contingent of the TTP and for the Taliban to have to answer for. I do think its much more valid then some random act of violence in some village that cannot be traced to them because some random government affiliated leaders said Taliban were involved. As a reasonable person that attempts to work within the confines of evidence, I cannot but agree that this is unethical behavior on the part of the Taliban if an investigation ensues and it is shown that this is them.

I afforded the same dignity, of innocent till proven guilty to US soldiers when earlier this year on PF a report was circulated that they raped someone in West Afghanistan... no proof was produced but many on here were steaming.

If we take it as you have laid out where a leader is responsible for the actions of all his men (e.g. Petreus is responsible for the rapes done by his military in Iraq... or Karzai is responsible for the rapes done by Afghan military against Pashtuns in the North... then Mullah Omar should address this if an investigatoin proves it is TTP and if TTP kills these boys).

The ultimate difference remains that Omar is indigenous to the land the US military is openly guilty of the ultimate crime of invasion of a foreign country and occupation.

i think u are missing my point entirely. i didnt say the afghan taliban/mullah omar order this kidnapping, obviously. i am saying that the taliban are responsible for the actions of their men. unless the taliban execute their own talib kidnappers like they would/should any other kidnapper than its pure hypocrisy.

We should believe that Hamid Karzai and other Kabul officials love Afghans, and are great defenders of the Afghan people

Next up: it was the Taliban who were behind the Holocaust in Germany.

                • there's a video..ABC-4corners. 'in their sights'. have a look. i saw it the other night, about the 'kill/capture' tactic and night raids. some afghans say that different tribes are feeding false info to get the aussie army to kill their rivals. it is a sad documenary, as it interviews friends and family of innocent people who have been killed by the australian army.

Kidnapping for ransom, especially of foreigners, has become a major business. These bandits want to make money, and what an easy target that most Afghans will not object to, especially when there is so much resentment for these foreigners?

Again, no one told foreigners to go there, and no one told Kabul officials to be Kabul officials.

didnt the taliban rise to power in the south because of the crimes of pashtuns?

                      • its you who is bringing up ethnocentric stuff here. Taliban arose due to all crimes, South and North, East and West.

Crime sees no boundaries as in the North today, we have rape and murder occurring against Pashtun, Uzbek, Tajik, and Hazara girls/women- all done by the former Northern Alliance. I forgot to mention, they also are raping boys, those sick pedophiles.

                        Don't bring up irrelevancies here.

and appreciate that I even considered responding to you because you are just as redundant and time wasting as Scimitar.

                        Back to Barakzai

Very true, watch this, from the American PBS (not the insult at Ashraf of course).

With the existence of the Khost Protection Force and equivalents along the border and other CIA backed groups that have admitted entering Pakistan on multiple occasions to carry out covert ops, I would require an investigation to ensure these men are TTP.

The West is not above false flag operations done by the US to shore up popular support against an enemy:

"Casting popular worker’s movements in that “red” light perpetuated support in Congress for some form of response from the US government. In early 1954, the CIA put into motion plans to overthrow the Arbenz government, continuing the practice of the Monroe Doctrine. The CIA chose Guatemalan exile Carlos Armas to front a rebel group that would launch a coup d’état. With vast logistical support from the CIA, the Armas led rebel army assaulted key cities and was met with defeat. Arbenz feared further US intervention if Armas’ army was defeated too easily. He believed that officers in his military might join sides with Armas, which came true when an army garrison at the city of Chiquimula surrendered to Armas’ forces. Arbenz called forth his cabinet to announce that the army was revolting and on June 27 resigned from the presidency (1954 Guatemalan coup d’état)."

i have no doubt that there are sketchy things being done by US funded forces. this does not, however, exonerate the ttp of their crimes and the crimes that they have taken credit for.

as you posted this on the last page.

"The TTP spokesman further added that the release or otherwise of the abducted kids would be decided by the central Shoora of the Taliban which is investigating into the matter and would come up with the decision shortly."
back to the subject of mullah omar. the man who has taken the title of the commander of the faithful. he sure as hell hasn't lived up to that title. our prophet said that he would cut off the hand of his own daughter if she stole something, while mullah omar seemingly hasn't lifted a finger to deal with the heinous crimes of the men who swear loyalty to him.

                              • now if it was not the ttp who kidnapped these kids, i would love to see where the real official ttp spokesman denies he sent out the message or the central shura deny they have knowledge of this kidnapping.

see thats the problem when people here try to deny the ttps own official "press releases" when they take credit for bombings and all kinds of other evil ****. if in fact these are false claims made by US linked forces that are attributed to the taliban, where the hell are the real taliban to deny that they have taken credit? we both know the taliban are not media shy, especially the ttp. if they want something to be known, they make it known. i wouldn't be surprised if there are some crazy salafis out there denying that this message by mullah omar is legitimate simply because the rhetoric isn't firey enough for them.
