To be fair, a lot of the English he uses are cricketing terms. His Pashto is probably more soocha when he is discussing other topics.

Looking, acting, and being geneically Pashtun doesn't matter when you don't speak the language properly.

I have a Kashmiri friend that lived in Peshawar most of his life. He is dark skinned guy that went to MIT and can speak better Pashto than many Pashtuns in Peshawar. What classification would you give him?

If he still identifies as Kashmiri then he is definitely not Pashtun. Changing from one ethnic ethnic group and assimilating into another is a complicated process that involves language change, marraige with the local population, and finally identification with the new ethnic group and the new ethnic group accepting you. If both of his parents are Kashmiri and he stilll identifies as one, he is definitely not Pashtun.
Also, contrary to what many on this site say, skin color is not a condition of being Pashtun. All you need is vaguely caucosoid features, which, contrary to what many members of this site say, most indics have.

So If I learned Pashto tomorrow, married a Pashtun lady, called myself a Pashtun, and had local people accepting me in their world as a Pashtun, I would be considered a Pashtun?

Even If I did all of this, at the end of the day, I'd still be a Punjabi?? How does this make any sense?

Nope, watch the Pashto interviews of Umar Gul, Younis Khan, Anwar Ali etc and they speak fine Pashto. This guy on the other hand has definitely daza waley Pashto (watch his other videos).

An German person can pass in England as a local, and he speaks English, and marries an English Lady, it wouldnt make him English. he would still be ethnically German.

There was a Indic poster months ago who asked if he could become Pashtun lol.

Anyway I Dont know why someone would want to be another ethnicity. Its not like it will magically make you better or something lol.

If there is a war with India, we will puff up the Pathans by telling them they are unbeatable and send them all to the front line to be killed by Indian army.

Samandri , you are correct. He is using too many non-Pashto words but somehow his flow and accent are natural and make it seem that he is comfortable while talking in Pashto as opposed to many other ethnic Pashtuns who have a certain accent when speaking Pashto due to the effect of Urdu/English.

Elite Pakhtun , I agree that having Pashtun lineage is enough to be considered a Pashtun. Speaking or not speaking Pashto is unrelated to your ethnicity.

I have heard Umar Gil speaking and it was atrocious. Younus Khan I think had similar Pashto to Afridi when talking about cricket. Have not heard Anwar Ali though.

They won't become English but they're kid(s) certainly will be. And assimilation is a natural process thay usually takes a long time. A Punjabi who moves to a Pashtun area may not himself become pashtun, but after several generations of mixing with Pashtuns their descendants will become Pashtuns and lose their Punjabi roots.

You have to be careful. There are people with Pashtun lineage who may do or say things against the people of their ancestors and then when you confront them they will pull the "Pashtun" card. For example, many Muhajirs have or at least claim to have Pashtun lineage but then will express vile rhetoric against actual Pashtuns who practice the culture and speak the language.

If a Muhajir indeed has Pashtun lineage but no trace of Pashtun language or culture , then I will consider him a Pashtun though heavily influenced by Indians/Desis.
However , the thing is that many of these Muhajirs claim Pashtun lineage , but its hard to tell how many of them are actually saying the truth. So its pretty complicated.
In Shahid Afridi's case , he has his village which he visits and a tribal background and family.I am sure that when speaking to his fellow tribesmen he uses more pure Pashto.I think there is a tendency to use more English /Urdu when speaking on TV.

I disagree. I will call them Indians/Desis with Pashtun lineage or background.
I agree with you on Shahid Afridi.
