German technology potentially bult by Iranian Minds and talent, it's an infinite regression Firdousi ....your point is moot. This is a similar silly logic where rednecks think whites are superior because Issac Newton happened to be white. I stand by my original remark. Science is its own culture free of all the others.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Everyone here seems to be obfuscating this entire topic.

Disliking/not participating in Christmas or respecting Western cultural habits are not identical issues as hating the West or being against the West....plenty of Westerners themselves shlock at Christmas and it's hoakiness. The merits of cultural habits themselves are not identical.

There's nothing inherently wrong with embracing something you genuinely see the merit in it; but if you're driven by the need to conform out of some feeling of inadequacy or desperate for acceptance....then that is cowardly and spineless and reeks of mental colonization.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Iblis you have to give credit to Germany for allowing or creating necessary environment to make such huge achievements. Those Iranian engineers didn't achieve it in their homeland but abroad. Its not about being proud of Isaac Newton or Ibn Sina. Its something much more relevant and bigger that encompasses cultural factors. So hell yeah technology has some much to do with culture. How comes nobody considers eBay as an Iranian company despite being founded by an Iranian guy? Do you consider it Western or Iranian?

Ok sure, you can argue that they gave the "environment" for growth; but On the flip side you can say that/ America's Department of Defense was responsible for funding cold war era scientific research against Russia that we've gained so much headway in studying cosmology and performing space exploration. Does this make America's military spending is justified? In relative proportion this is a microcosm of society, but it is analogous that science and tech may sprout in many culture's; it's really belonging

; Pakistani scientist Dr. Abdul Salaam, made a development that predicted the Unification of Electroweak and Strong Nuclear Force, he won the Nobel Prize along with two Jewish-American guys.. Are you going to tell me his work was 'Pakistani"? Come on.

Modern technology was created by the West. Thats a fact. But we are talking here about different kind of technologies. Its pretty obvious it changes depending on countries and civilizations. Western technology its quite different than Chinese or Japanese technology. Unfortunately there is nothing like "Islamic technology" for now except suicide vests and other stuff like that. Your kin along the Pak-Afg tribal belt are masters when it comes to this kind of "technology" lol

Buddy there is something called human capital flight. People from Third World countries use to come to the West in order to work here. Thats because the environment, economic compensation, reputation, etc are much better.

There is no need to insists here. You got my point and you couldn't refute it. Technology is not culturally neutral.

Can you expand on the characteristic technical differences that make Western technology 'Western" vs. Chinese and Japanese

You basically refuted it for me by saying "human capital flight". Paying for brain power doesn't mean you take credit for the brain power.

Come on stop it man. You know very well the difference between a f*cking Airbus and an Antonov. Are you seriously saying that there is no difference between those companies, that everything is the same, regardless where they were fabricated? Thats ridiculous.

Sure there are differences, just like there are differences between Ford and Chrysler or Nissan and Toyota....you're not demonstrating this is characteristically cultural.

I do, and I'm also aware of their deeper implications.....you want to give Western culture's credits for work paid for by private enterprise and not always done by Westerners.

I guess Arabs have made a monumental architectural achievement because Oil Sheikhs paid for the Burj Al 'Arab.

How comes those wealthy Arabs hired Western minds to build that Burj Al Arab and not Chinese or Iranian ones? Soft power, buddy. Western technology, modern architecture and engineering are considered by them as superior. And indeed it is. I don't know why this is something so hard to accept.

BTW I find it hilarious how Burj al Arab has a Christian cross. Westerners took advance once again from our lack of development and stupidity. Well done.
