Take a look at the global 500 universities list, and let me know how many Canadian flags you see, vis-a-vis American.
When i meant education system, I was talking about secondary education. You have a better chance of graduating high school in USA because of the dumbed down education as another user said. In Canada almost every university is public and acceptance rate is higher, when for America you need to pay a lot of money to get into a specific university. So basically university is for the rich there. The Education Index listed Canada at #6 while USA was bottom downed to #13. That says a lot about America's education system. As for health care, you still need to pay for simple check up, even if the doctors are better it's still not worth it. The doucmentry "Sicko" by Micheal Moore proves my point. He visits other countries with free health care system and they are surprised by the fact that America doesn't. You shouldn't pay to live healthy.

Khushan Prince, it seems you are misinformed and don't have enough information about this. Let's dissect what you said,

When i meant education system, I was talking about secondary education. You have a better chance of graduating high school in USA because of the dumbed down education as another user said.
In some of the worser school systems, depending on the district, there are high schools that are doing this, the same way it occurs in Canada. This doesn't mean that in Stuyvesant, Brooklyn Tech, Bronx Science, or the other thousands of top-notch, ivy-league feeding high schools do the same. They are olympiads, amongst others in those schools. So that's not true.

In Canada almost every university is public and acceptance rate is higher, when for America you need to pay a lot of money to get into a specific university.
False again. There are more public universities in the USA, then all Canadian universities combined. In NYS alone, there are nearly 150 public universities, that offer education for free if you are making less than 50-60K per year. In fact, they even PAY YOU to go to school. For example, you can attend Baruch College in Manhattan, a business school(that has better business recruitment than just about any Canadian university, the top 4 recruits there), and get paid nearly $3K per semester in TAP, or PELL(for US citizens only I believe)and use that money for a nice laptop, t-shirt or books. How is you getting paid to attend college expensive wrora jaana, when that tuition tab is due in Canada, remember this. Also, it's a myth that Harvard is expensive. In fact, schools like MIT, Yale, Princeton, Harvard are known internationally as incredibly generous to it's students in terms of grants. Most graduate with debt lower than most of your Canadian universities, so again -- false. Acceptance rate in the USA is far higher than Canada for public schools, and for some it's lower because many Canadians and other international students apply, they only have certain seats. But, that doesn't mean you can't get a decent, free, education at CUNY or SUNY, or UC, CalState, etc. Of course, if you were not admitted by merit, and you choose to buy yourself a degree from NYU, they will charge you an arm and a leg for it. However, I know countless folks at NYU, CMU, and other top notch schools that pay zilch. Remember, UC Berkeley, IMHO the best public university on earth, is public. Then you have the University of Texas system that has it's flagship. Put it this way, each state has one or two flagship state schools that can easily place you in an amazing job. :]

Education Index listed Canada at #6 while USA was bottom downed to #13.
Again, Canada is a state, I don't view it unfortunately as a nation that can be compared to a gigantic country like the USA. There are some poor performing states, that drag down the USA due to it's massive population. Let's compare Canada to Mass shall we? Massachusetts can single-handedly destroy Canada when it comes to higher education, in every ranking possible. Heck, the world's best schools are located there.

As for health care, you still need to pay for simple check up, even if the doctors are better it's still not worth it. The doucmentry "Sicko" by Micheal Moore proves my point.
If you are educated, companies will cough up the bill for you. Rather than paying enormous taxes to the Canadian government, most employers will pay for your health care tab, provided that you are educated. Malgara, when you are sick, a 'doctor' will certain be worth it. You don't want a rag-tag Canadian doctor treating you for cancer, when you have Memorial Sloan Kettering. Again, I am trying to be as impartial as I can here, but Canada is awesome as a state, but comparing one state, vs 50 is a grave mistake that should be avoided.

I would suggest the OP to look in Mass, Connecticut, NYC(if you want that mast vibe), etc.

If the threadstarter is interested in innovation, technology, research, better doctors, better hospitals, more Muslims, better education, higher paying job, more companies, better companies, more mosques, more diverse, more Afghans, look into the USA.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

why would a Canadian dream of coming here when University of Waterloo, McGill , McMaster and Carleton University perform at or better than American universities?

In fact as an American I'd rather have had a chance to study in Canada.

for what purpose you are planning to immigrate? The US is far better in many ways, if we dont like its certain policies it doesnt mean the US is not good. the life standard is far better, the food the living standards. as well as racially the US population is more open minded. you can make more money ad save more. low taxes
canada is a family ountry. medical care is alot better. schools are much safer and education system is wonderful.

              Admin Wrora,

I can see where you are coming from but you have to take into consideration, America's population is 10 times bigger than that of Canada's. I mean California itself can be country with a higher population then Canada. There maybe more public universities in America but only because of population. As for the ivy league thing, majority of the students had either connections or just rich daddy's, as that was the case back in the days but i don't know if that still happens. Majority of ivy league students who are financially unstable need to pay an arm and leg to pay of the debts. There's saying that you will be in debt until your 40 to pay of college loans, but it's ignorant to say Canada is just a "state" when it is just a country like USA but with lower population. But at the end of the day you would feel safer in Canada walking down the street instead of somewhere like Brooklyn when someone can pull out a gun and mug you on the spot. But, Canada and USA are like brothers who have different political views and policies.

This is not true. As I said, American elite institutions are known for their incredibly generous financial aid packages by merit. So if you are smart, chances are you have a full ride to Harvard, along with a dorm, for free.

The Brooklyn example is not true either, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, is one of the safest areas of the USA. Again, there are areas in Toronto where you can get robbed as well. Your analysis on education is unfortunately not up to date. That 50K per year that you see for MIT, is just a sticker price. About 80% of the study body pays next to nothing; the same goes for Yale, Princeton, Columbia. And like I said, the thousands of public institutions that will pay you to attend school are just as good, if not better. For example, UIUC, a public school, has a better Computer Science department than any Canadian university, both public and private combined.

Admin Khan i think youre absolutely correct, in that a country to country comparison doesnt work

but if you consider the AVERAGE immigrant, lets say an Afghan/Muslim immigrant, I still think Canada is a better option overall

Culturally, immigrants retain their culture better in Canadian society than an American one. We are a mosiac whereas America is a melting pot

Our economy is in better standing and we have been effected less by the recession

Politically, American politics is an absolute joke.

Its not a coincidence, that the Economist List of Most Liveable Cities had 3 Canadian cities in the top 5, and not a single American city in sight
