It is just like Persian nationalists who speak of a "Khurasan" , which is a geographic reference than an actual State. It is simply a reference that a lot of "this type of peoplle" live in this area.

that was what i was kind of getting at, but not really lol. afghanistan and pakistan of today are external constructs which have little legitimacy, but legitimacy is relative so we can leave that for another debate. what i was approaching was that pashtuns loyalties to pakistan are politically based, had they been absorbed by china they would be proud chinese today. on the other side of the coin you have pashtuns who are proud to be afghan but hate their governments. what i was getting at was that there was a notion of an afghanistan, based on the local homeland of pashtuns long before europeans had a chance to shape our nations. an afghanistan defined by geography, culture, race, language, that didn't have to proclaim their land as afghanistan but was recognized as such by outsiders like babur.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

I don't know if I would go and call it a "homeland" but I get your point. I mean Pashtuns generally fought each other for power and territory, often aligning themselves with foreigners to fight other Pashtuns. Take for example the Ghilzais of Ghazni cooperating with Sultan Ghaznawi to fight the possibly unconverted Pashtuns I think it is no more of a reference to a homeland than America was to the natives.

if i moved from Afghanistan to pakistan(lets say karachi) than having pakistani nationality would be the same as i would have moved to canada and hold canadian nationality.

What was Lahore called before Partition? United India? Now should they start saying that we are Indian Nationals? What happened in the past happened there .. What am I today? Am I an Afghan (By Nationality)? No, I am not. So I am a Pakistani whether I like it or not this is what I am .. I vote within the due restrictions of Pakistan .. I live under it's constitution .. This is no part of Afghanistan today.. That's it .. That's the way it is

You aren't seeing the difference here today .. Am I an Afghan (By Nationality)? Or a Pakistani? Suppose tomorrow if I go to any part of the world for the sake of Education or anything else? What will be my Nationlity? Which passport will I be carrying?

If Pakhtunkhwa goes to Afghanistan then I wouldn't, at least our language and culture will become stronger.

Already spoke about it in reply to Khushaal's post
