agreed.Originally posted by Luffy View PostI am exactly 6 feet but i tell 5'11" so that people dont assume that i am boasting. Torkham your this mountain height doesnt apply to pashtuns that much accurately. Wazirs, mehsuds, orkazais, afridis etc are mountain people but are very tall. But non-pashtuns mountainous people like chitralis are very very short people.
just my observation. nothing scientific. actually quite difficult to do a study due to so many parameters to consider; diet, effects of war, selection of couples in micro societies etc.
but anecdotally, pashtuns are considered tall, from KPK to kandahar or helmand.
i think mountain height is a generalisation, for instance in northern afghanistan, there were less pashtun till pashtuns were relocated. the settled people of northern areas were of tajik, turkmen uzbek ancestry, who are safely shorter on average than pashtun of south.

DZJ - we are not freaks.
we are all affected by our height and what height we wish to be. you girls like your high heels? because of all the pain and future back problems? you want to be taller too. and the tall ones often wear flat shoes unless they are about to receive an award then high heels.
dont forget the boasting, every man boasts a little of his height.

I have question from you, how will you distinguish a hazara from an uzbek by looks?Originally posted by torkham View Postagreed.

awans are probably of Rajput origin and therefore very similar to Jats. Or in fact Awans might well be of Jat origin. They are all very similar - in origin - I would think. In fact I would guess that many Pashtuns are not much different in origin either to these groups.Originally posted by Luffy View PostDont know about jats, but rural bannu is full of awans.
On the other hand if all Pashtuns today speak Pashtu it does not mean they are all of the same origin. Like for example Palestinians speak Arabic but have very different origins to Saudis.

Jats is not really a "caste" and never really believed themselves to be a caste either.Originally posted by Karachi View Postcaste of punjabies
I think its (jats)
I have heard there are some "Jats" in Afghanistan too but my guess is that they are in fact not Jats at all but claimed to be Jats when they moved to Afghanistan. The Jats in Afghansitan are more likely of Gypsy origins and they are nomadic people originating in Central India but who roam around all over India and Pakistan and elsewhere.
Majority of the population of Sindh is of Jat origin but many might have forgotten that now being brainwashed.

I have seen short Pashtuns and tall Pashtuns. For that matter, I have seen light skinned Pashtuns and dark skinned Pashtuns. I think height is governed by diet and family genetics - not as much by which race you belong to. Did or do Pashtuns marry mostly their cousins?

My wazir cousins are short, but me, my uncle and some family members are tall...
I think it's not racial, but genetical ( if your uncle is tall etc.... )
But i have to say that , generally , jatts and some wazirs and masseed are anormally tall O.o , why ?

I dont think jats originated in central india, infact jat territory has always been around the indus, no jats live east of this area or ever have
I think the earliest mention of jats is in (sindh) by arabs in the 7th century, when there was war between them and arabs. So sindh, punjab, eastern Baluchistan could be there origin point. Also over all jats dont resemble central indians
