    This Senator you talk of.

must have told you about the countless killing and crimes against Afghan civilians by US, and if he didn't, well then, he is not a senator representing the interests of the Afghan people.

Another surprise for me was absence of any great Sufi or spiritual leader in Pashtun areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan. In the last few years I have started taking keen interest in spiritual aspect of life and am searching for great guides in this respect.

I had to request a friend from Karachi to seek an appointment for me with Khwaja Shamsudin Azeemi a spiritual personality about whom I have heard a lot. I may meet him some time and will share my experiences with friends here.

One man I found so far , a Khattak scholar who knows Osho and is a great fan of him. However now people seeing Osho books with me are taking interest in this Mahatama Guru.

In Pashtun areas you will only find Deobandi or Salafi madrassas and scholars of these schools of thought. I found two persons of Tariqat amomg deobandis who were inspired by Ashraf Ali Thanwi and gave me his book Shariyat wa Traiqat whish I found a good book on the subject.

I was told that one of the biggest cause of terrorism in Pashtun areas is lack of Sufism and Brelvi thinking among Pashtuns. In Punjab or Sindh you wont find terrorism because there Sufism and Brelvis dominate. I visited Multan , Bahalpur, DG Khan and paid my homage on the great shrines there. It was a surprise for me that Deobandis and Salafis are present in Southern Punjab and hence some Taliban and terrorism do exist there.

Also I discovered a new fact and proved it with first hand experience that Tablighi Jumat is the real cause of extremism, terrorism and salafism as they prepare the ground where terrorists and extremists then practise. Tablighis preach fatalism. predeterminism, unimportance of this world, only significance of hereafter , extreme religiosity etc and thus providing food for the nursery of suicide bombers and terrorists.

Did you really go to Afghanistan?

There are many Talibs who are in fact Sufi. Also, the terrorist bombings from planes and terrorist night raids directed at Afghan civilians are being committed by US forces. Is that what you meant?

What terrorism are you speaking of?

National defense of the homeland is a resistance movement, recognized by growing number of nations, including Turkey, India, Pakistan, Russia, and the plethora of nations who are withdrawing.

I met some Taliban in Kunarh who were all educated in darul Uloom Haqanya of Maulana Samiul Haq a Deobandi Madrassa and few who were inspired from Shaikh Abdul salam Rustami who was a Panjperi and now an Ahle Hadith. I also met few who studied in Mazhurul Uloom in Mingora and and one Madrassa in Panjpir Swabi again Deobandi madrassas . Yes few were from Shaikh of Dagai who had soft corner for Sufis but they are very few and the dominant group is deobandi or salafi.

I personally consider the war led by NATO and supported by Afghan national forces, approved by Afghan Parliament as just war on terror. Defeat in this war will be the doomsday for Afghanistan and Pashtuns.

I observe that Taliban are very intelligently confusing the people to paint the NATO and other forces fighting against the terror as foreign occupying forces rather than liberating forces. In past from Alexander the Great to Russians were all occupying forces and thats why were successfully fought by all Afghans together but presently the forces are in Afghanistan to liberate the Afghans from terror and are not here to occupy the land of Afghanistan. This will make the Afghanistan and the whole world safe from the scourge of the terrorism of salafis, taliban and others.

I met few stranger Afghan diplomats, high ranking officers and few common citizens in some functions and it was really surprising for me when I asked them where are they from in Afghanistan and what language they speak. They responded that they are only from Afghanistan and they only speak Afghan languages and they should not be asked such questions which may imply their race or ethnic group.

Later in discussions they revealed that they want to wipe out this distinction of Pashtun or tajik or Uzbek or others and just want to present them selves only and only as Afghans. I asked them what about Pashtun identity, they said they discourage it. They want nation building and this is only possible if all Tajiks, Pashtuns and others identify themselves only as Afghans.

I asked them whether Pashtuns in Pakistan should also do the same to call themselves only Pakistanis and not Punjabi or Pashtun or others. They said yes this is their right and we Afghans have no objection to this.

This approach sounds very good but Pashtuns as a historic nation or ethnic group will lose its identity as Pashtuns and the 20 million Pashtuns in Afghanistan will be merged to others and will remain only Afghans while 40 million Pashtuns in Pakistan will become only Pakistanis. I dont know how can we save the Pashtun identity without making a problem to the nation building process in both Afghanistan and Pakistan!

I think we should give Osho a chance. If he can provide evidence that any of these events took place then we should accept it.

I'm just waiting for Osho to show some form of documentation, such as video footage, or something.

giving such people a chance means more massacre of kids in kunar.

well, brother graveyardofempire, it is hilarious to read.

Osho, I don't think you should follow Greg Mortensons path in writing. Most people who have joined the Taliban are the common men motivated by badal, and obviously, the resentment to foreigners which has always existed, and will never go away. As always, Islam and pashtunwali is major part of Afghan culture, and these principles are the reason the US is being defeated.

Withdrawal is real, but no Afghan is a fool. The defense of the homeland will not stop until every foreigner is out. They are leaving, this is not false.
To put it in perspective, you would not have the double-faced Pakistani government taking this matter so seriously. India and Russia are openly talking to the Taliban about setting up diplomatic relations, bypassing the Afghan 'government.' Pakistan has been outsmarted by India this time

I dont find any thing bad in Greg Mortensons efforts and works. He is a great humanitarian activist and has contributed a lot in educating the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan. His books are inspiring and motivating. I would love to have one day a network of schools like him in Pashtunland. This is what I feel these days to mobilize resources for having a network of schools of modern education and basic health centres. This is what Pashtunland lack.

I dont think any body who writes here has to present pictures and videos so that the readers believe in her or him. Basic purpose of these posts are sharing my first hand experiences with my observations and comments for remarks of my fellow members of this august forum. I dont need to present my person but my thoughts.Events are not significant, what matters is what lessons we learn an dhow it shape our thought patterns and approach to various issues.I am in a land of Taliban and I cant disclose all the details.

I was invited to the session of the Khyber Pashtunkhwah assembly or parliament and a big surprise for me that the whole debate and discussion was in Urdu while more than 80% members of the assembly are Pashtuns. Even the hard core Pashtun nationalists were not speaking Pashto. I could not understand nationalism without using the language of the nation for whom you are fighting.I also saw all the written slogans in political gatherings not in Pashto but in other languages.

Pashto needs to be the official language at least in the Pashtun parts of Pakistan otherwise this great language will become extinct very soon and will be counted in the endangered languages of the world.

                                That's certainly sad.

Aren't they supposed to be teaching Pashto in schools?
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
