  • Mark Twain's frankest views on religion appeared in his final Autobiography, which was published 100 years after his death, in November 2010. In it, he said,[103]
There is one notable thing about our Christianity: bad, bloody, merciless, money-grabbing, and predatory as it is--in our country particularly and in all other Christian countries in a somewhat modified degree--it is still a hundred times better than the Christianity of the Bible, with its prodigious crime--the invention of Hell. Measured by our Christianity of to-day, bad as it is, hypocritical as it is, empty and hollow as it is, neither the Deity nor his Son is a Christian, nor qualified for that moderately high place. Ours is a terrible religion. The fleets of the world could swim in spacious comfort in the innocent blood it has spilled.

Twain was a Freemason.[104][105] He belonged to Polar Star Lodge No. 79 A.F.&A.M., based in St. Louis. He was initiated an Entered Apprentice on May 22, 1861, passed to the degree of Fellow Craft on June 12, and raised to the degree of Master Mason on July 10.

Twain stated that he believed in an almighty God, but not in any messages, revelations, holy scriptures such as the Bible, Providence, or retribution in the afterlife.

Ms./Mr. Aria, I also want to know the answer to this question. Thank you very much.

      • Lets also be aware that the people who have murdered afghans are working directly on behalf of these western countries, whereas the people who killed americans were not working on behalf of the afghan government at the time.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

We cannot speak on behalf of NATO countries, but as far as the United States is concerned, it is not for us to decide whether it is right or wrong for Afghanistan to invade another country. Of course, every sovereign nation has the right to defend itself against threats with a just cause and according to international law. This applies to Afghanistan as well since it is a sovereign nation all decisions will have to be made by the Afghan government and its people.

Aria2013, we're talking specifically in context to Robert Bales massacre of 16 Afghans.

Is it right for Afghanistan to demand that Robert Bales be extradicted back to Afghanistan and face punitive response under Afghan law and if the U.S. does not give Afghanistan this right, would it be right for us to respond against the U.S. the way the U.S. responded against the then ruling Government of Afghanistan?

Please don't dance around this ...We'll petition banning you.

            • Revolution, from my understanding CENTCOM is not ashamed to say that using war as one of the first resorts to any international conflict is normal and appropriate, if it is in your country's interest--even if the war is morally wrong. Realpolitik, which these folks practice, operates with belief that the world does not abide by moral law but by greed for power. So if I am not mistaken, in Aria's view, as he sort of alludes to in his answer to randolph's question, it would be perfectly okay for a country to wage war on another if their people were willing to and acknowledged that it was in their interests. In their view, wars will always occur and the "fittest" will suvive with their goals met. Just like the massacre of Native Americans. Was it the morally right thing to do? No. Did it eventually give the colonists their much-wanted land? Yeah. Are there regrets? No. The world operates in much the same way. It doesn't matter what the fair or correct thing to do is. If something is perceived to be in your country's interest, you do it. If you lose, perhaps you deserved to move away, die off and let others take control anyway. Such is their perverted thinking. According to Darwinist views, competition is the natural way for the fittest in society to assert their dominance.
Things such as compassion, respect for other human life, fairness, etc. are meaningless unless they impact your own interests in any way. This is what happens when people don't have faith in God.

I like to continue this conversation with you in a polite and respectful manner, my friend. However, if you cannot change your tone and carry a conversation without threatening remarks and insults, it will be a waste of everyone’s time. Furthermore, you keep repeating yourself about banning us. As I said in my previous post, we have been conversing in a very polite and respectful manner with forum members. If admin decides to ban us because of member threats, then, once again, so be it. It will have absolutely no effect on us whatsoever, but you will take an opportunity away from people who actually want to hear what we have to say and converse with us.

Also, we are not here to provide Q&A sessions, meaning you throw question at me and I come up with a satisfactory answer for you. If the answer is not what you want to hear, you throw insulting and threatening jabs at me. We are in this forum to engage in conversations on various topics, not just military related. And engaging in conversation does not mean a one sided Q&A.

Note: in case you haven’t noticed, the number of viewership, posts, and comments in this thread has increased drastically since we have joined and from what I saw this morning it had the highest number among all forum topics and threads. Are you sure you want to stop this conversation?

Politeness doesn't matter if you side step what's asked of you.

It's not about an answer "we want to hear' It's about an answer that is RELEVANT to the question asked.

We threaten you so you STAY on track, otherwise why does CENTCOM stake an interest in being here? We're not here to "chit chat" about how our day is going. YOU CAME HERE TO REPRESENT the U.S. Government. THUS you are OBLIGATED to answer questions regarding it.

OTHERS NOTE ...CENTCOM HAS SIDE STEPPED QUESTIONS ASKED TO THEM ....PLease spread this to everyone you know. As this needs to be highlighted publicly.

My friend, you shouldn't threaten anyone for anything period. As you so candidly admitted in your response to Randolph, you threaten CENTCOM and its members because you want CENTCOM to admit to something that you believe is to be the truth. Enforcing your views on others through threats and bullying is not the way to go about things and I guarantee, you will never achieve success or happiness with that approach. Anyway, having said that, I respectfully disagree with you that we are "side stepping the question". Your question was answered in a clear and precise way, but the fact that you do not agree with the answer or want to hear that answer is a whole other story. My conversation with you will end here because I do not tolerate bullying, no one in this forum should. And since you are set on discrediting anything we say here instead of having an engaging conversaton, we will only be going around in circles, a waste of everyone's time.

Anyway, I wish you and all members in this forum a very happy Nowroz celebration and the blessings of Allah to guide all of us.
