Aria, how many taliban were killed or caught in Afghanistan/ Pashtun areas by ISAF, earlier by Enduring Freedom operation, since 11/2001? Could you give the number?

It's not us who were unwilling to discuss with YOU, it was YOU who were reluctant to discuss with us.

Also mind you; ANY criticism towards American Military activity overseas CENTCOM always referred to as PROPAGANDA> So please withhold playing the Victim card because it is rather disingenuous.
Because we've heard it all before; we know the party line and what the agenda is, we've debated it refuted it and discredited it intellectual and yet it comes back regurgitating the same rhetorical prattle that it did as if it never heard/saw or engaged in any debate. I don't suspect you'll be any different than other CENTCOM agents

at this point we think you're an Uncle Tom a pejorative for individuals who have taken a servile role to power agendas of host cultures.

we're merely treating you like a joke; you offer us nothing serious. In fact I can almost predict most of your CENTCOM "angles" on different issues.
And you are entirely entitled to your opinion.....

aria, trying to convince pashtuns that the nightmare of the last 12 years if for our own good while you try to dress it up in pretty and friendly words, is not working. abort, abort.

your line may work for middle aged afghans with no dignity who would gladly sell their souls for a lucrative interpreter/centcom job or complete buffoons with suspect identities like badlun who think 1+1=3, but it won't fly with anyone that has a shred of decency, iman, and who isn't ashamed of their identity.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

We get it Yasmeenaah, you want to feel accepted by the community as a benevolent member unlike CENTCOM that's why you're demonizing him.

No need to exaggerate your commitment.

Al Hanif we could say the exact same about you; not long ago you were saying innocent Afghans deserved to die in suicide attacks merely because they don't want to fight and just want to live their lives peacefully after of 20 years of perpetual turmoil.

While I admire and commend your new outlook as more fair and balanced. Don't think I have forgotten some of the past drivel you've spewed basically condoning the deaths of MY people for an ideology which you AT THAT time endorsed.

Yasmeenah is a very balanced member here. I admire her greatly for that.

I agree, communication and continuous dialogue is to the benefit of everyone and absolutely Centcom can provide clarification on any misgivings people may have. And, yes, why not take advantage of this opportunity? I believe, communication is key to peaceful resolution. Unfortunately there will always be people who will put road blocks in its path. I mean, just look at this forum, there is so much energy spent on doing just that instead of discussing issues and events that take place affecting all of us. And I am not referring to just military matters, but in all aspects of life. For example, why do you think most relationships between people fail? It fails because people don't communicate with each other. I once asked a very old couple, probably in their 70s or so who had been happily married for over 50 years, what the secret to their success in marriage and happiness was? Guess what they told me; Communication. It is great that there are forums such as these that provide a platform for people from all walks of life to share ideas and discuss issues. If you look at Iranian or Pakistani social forums, first of all there are so many, but most importantly you will find real discussions going on. But with Afghans, unfortunately, I often find that instead of being open to other views and perspectives, we show signs of fear believing others intend to influence us and therefore we must do what we can to prevent that from happening. My question is, if one’s sphere of beliefs is strong, then why be afraid of other views and perspectives? Why label it propaganda or give it some other name? Why not listen, reason, and discuss? Why spend all that energy trying to get people banned, defamed and insulted when you can spend that energy building better relations with people? A wise man once said, “You can have brilliant ideas, but if you can’t get them across, your ideas won’t get you anywhere.” The way I personally see things is that I rather build new bridges to acquire new ideas and expand my knowledge, instead of destroying the bridges and remaining in the darkness of my own fear. But that’s just my personal opinion and no one has to agree with it.

Thanks Badlun for your comment and positive outlook.

Sometimes I think that I am wasting my time discussing various issues specially issues related to Pashtuns and Afghanistan here in this forum but when I see a touch of reality like this, then I feel satisfied that may be these discussions may pave way for the betterment of Afghans and Pashtuns at large. I will request you that instead of multitasking you may wholly and solely concentrate here at least one hour a day and may engage us in creative and useful discussion.

Presence of NATO and US forces is a reality in Afghanistan. Now when they will be leaving Afghanistan, the region is at cross roads. This forum can be utilized as a center for dialog and for forwarding suggestions for the post-NATO and post-US Afghanistan.

Not at all, Revolution..... I welcome and respect all opinions, good or bad. We don't always have to agree on everything, but I feel as long as we are talking that is a good thing.

You are right, it is a reality and moving forward and as we get closer to 2014, it is important to remain informed, engaged, and take advantage of this opportunity that Centcom has provided. The "multitasking" simply meant that I have other responsibilities in my role here, but as you suggested, I can certainly commit a fair amount of time to communicate in this forum. I think it's important for all to keep the doors of communication open.
