Modern Pakhtuns are not the same as ancient Pakhtuns. Modern Pakhtuns are Muslims, ancient Pakhtuns were Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and Coptic christians. I don´t believe the Buddas of Bamian were part of Pakhtuns. All the rulers of the region were nonPakhtuns. We were also mostly nomads while Buddas of Bamian were built by urban people.

Ancestors of Pharsiwans and Hazarahs who lived in the region before modern Afgahnistan and Pakistan was created. Such regions are still populated by those people and dominated by them.

The origins of Pashtuns remains obscure and the evidence suggests that Pashtuns formed from a conglomerate of various peoples whom were mostly either Pagans/Shamans, Hindus or Buddhists and perhaps maybe some Jews (tough I doubt it).

a mish mash of different groups who formed some semblance of cultural cohesion. but like ghani khan said, what we were thousands of years ago doesn't matter.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

sanskrit kindly please stop posting these kind of threads afghanistan & india are very good friends & share historical & culture geo-political ties but pushing any thing further then its limits backfire its the rule of nature respect for every religion is a must but their is no such thing as an original hindu & converted muslim the conversion then becomes the original thus forming the actual identity while the former cease to exist so one must respect the choice of the people & recognized as their religious identity now is no such thing as a born christian converted buddhist so he/she has to be actually a christian no rather its a buddhist by birth or the person was born to become a buddhist in case of conversion

People in Afghanistan and Pashtunkhwa (speakers of old languages like Avestan and Sanskrit and Saka languages) were Zoroastrians, Buddhists, Hindus and pagans.

Sanscrit was spoken in northern India, not Pakhtunwa or Afghanistan. Avistan was the language of middle asia. Our original home was always the region between Sindh and Qandahar. Your claim do not fit in that. I head something about saka language but this is only a theory. Accoridng to al-barani Pashtuns were no Hindus, no Muslims and no Zorostrians. Recognize also the facts that modern Pakhtusn are different than the people of ancient days. Modern Pakhtuns have also non-Pakhtun tribes and people as ancestors who invaded our region the last 1000years and earlier. Jews, Arabs, Lodi, Khalji, Indians and many more.
