I like Baluchis for many reason. They are like pashtuns. They hate pakistan and banned napaki anthom and flag in their area. They have killed many punjabi soldiers since the pakis occupation of Baluchistan.
I wish all the best to Baluchi people for azad Baluchistan.
The slave pashtun is happy to serve their master chaudry sahib.
They are far more brave and freedom lover then pashtuns.

Are you from the Pakistan side of the Pukhtoon areas? If so, what are the reasons the Pukhtoons in Pakistan are so content with being a part of Pakistan?

Do they get a lot of preferential treatment, money, respect, what? I never quite understood why there isn't more of a push and desire to be reconnected to Afghanistan where about half of the world's Pukhtoon population lives. From what I know of Afghan refugees are treated worse then a close second are the Pakistani Pukhtoons but maybe I'm wrong about that and they are treated better then I think.

To be frank, though, from what I know of, the treatment that Afghan Pukhtoons and Pakistani Pukhtoons get in Pakistan is much worse then anything I have ever heard of anywhere in Afghanistan amongst non-Pukhtoons so if there were reservations on that front, i.e., with going back to the pre-Durrand borders. .

Is it one area like Pekhawar, who is the largest city in Sarhad and therefore most influential, not caring so much about reunification and therefore the other areas voice isn't heard as much? Is it just widespread indifference? Thoughts are appreciated.

To answer your question, I will post what a member here similarly posted,

This is a screenshoted image. He posted a whole reply on why Paki pashtuns prefer Pakistan over their original land. I cant seem to find it man, it's in this forum but can't really find where i got this from. But You get the idea.

I don't believe the screen shot is loading but to your point, I don't even mean leaving Sarhad, they should stay there, its there land from time immemorial. What I mean is, why not a stronger push to recconect Sarhad back with Afghanistan, which is what it has been historically and makes natural sense given that the same people have been divided between two countries.

The same issues are facing the Baloch and Kurdish communities but in a much more difficult way.

Reconnecting Sarhad to Afghanistan would bring turmoil in their point of view. It will bring safety issues and will open doors for terrorism and an easy access route for Taliban since they can easily come in and control their lifestyle. Afghanistan in itself is very poor, so there is absolutely no point in doing business in that land. There is no competition in business, no quality import, export and the main reason being stake of life. Pakistan provides them much more facilities and modernity in which they can compete and establish quality trade routes to flourish their area. Reconnecting back to Afghanistan would be backwards for them, in a way it is true because Sarhad is overall very competitive in the rest of Pakistan and going back to Afghanistan would mean loss of money, loss of karobar and above all lack of safety. You need to compare quality of life in both areas before thinking to reconnect to a nation which is a gateway to terrorism, turmoil and zero opportunities for business.

^^ That's their point of view.

If I tell you, hey I will pay you $10,000 a month, a cool house, a cool car with servants and will open plenty of doors for opportunities and better lifestyle. Just Don't leave this land or reconnect to your original land (considering reconnecting having no house, no car, servants or oppurtunities but only starvation), what would you pick? You have to think about you and your children, their future and their proceeding generation before making any judgement.

I see, I have heard this sentiment before as well. Afghanistan is generally more tribal and less developed - probably why there is more of a disconnect growing everyday between the two sides. Typically, development equals more assimilation which is something difficult to avoid especially when assimilation means assimilation into a foreign culture and identity. In reality, though, in the long run, increased financial stability likely means the loss of an identity and culture. I think it better to be poor and down-trodden than sacrifice your language, culture, and history and be forced to become someone else or be ridiculed by them. But to each their own, it's not an uncomplicated issue and I may be painting with broad strokes.

However, what still baffles me is that knowing the general dogma and mantra of Pukhtoons, this type of thinking is completely and utterly juxtaposed to it. Let's just merge Quetta and the Tribal areas because there just as undeveloped as Afghanistan and call it a day lol

I would say there is a growing "patriotism" among Pashtuns. Keeping their Pashtun/Afghan culture they still call themselves patriotic Pakistanis. Most Pashtuns think that they are “Pakistanis” and have sunken with the Pakistani history. But some are so culturally lost that they have absolutely no idea and know nothing about their pashtun/afghan culture and have dissolved with the Pakistanis. The number of Pashtun/Panjabi or Urdu speaking intermarriages is vastly growing. They seem to like the Pakistani culture a lot better. They are being brainwashed by the Pakistani media. Lots of Pashtun actors air in Pakistani television shows, movies and sports alike. More then half of Pakistani cricket team are Pashtuns. World cup was also won by Imran khan. Pashtuns even equipped Pakistan with the "atomic bomb". Pashtuns have taken over Pakistan. You will see outstanding remarks of business in not only KPK but Karachi and Sindh also. More and more pashtuns are migrating to Islamabad, rebuilding it's corrupt structure and economically upraising it's potential in marketing, business and economics. More and more pashtuns go into the Pakistani Army, they are widespread in Airforce and navy. You will see thousands of pashtuns in politics as well. You will also see them holding high class jobs and being famous for labour. Pashtuns have done some serious effort in rebuilding Pakistan, I wish they would have done that so in Afghanistan. I believe what Pakistan stands today is because of Pashtuns. Panjabis do nothing and they still rule the country, I think it should be Pashtuns who sould rule the country after economically boosting up the countries progress so much. Panjabis remain the rulling class, this does not seems to sadden the Pashtun masses. However going to Afghanistan is very very obsurd. Pashtuns have grown hate for Afghanistan, they have grown hate for their own people. You will not see positive remarks about Afghanistan by Pakistani Pashtuns. The newer generation of Pashtuns seem to hate Afghanistan even more, because technically they were born in "Pakistan" and they have been brainwashed since childhood reading history books in schools and universities about the "mightiness" of their great nation called Pakistan. It’s a very absurd idea, especially to the newer Pashtun generation to ever hardly even think about a place called "Afghanistan". And a place like that even existing. Forget reconnecting.

It's unfortunate but it's the reality I guess - this sentiment is more or less why we have issues across the border. If your an Afghan Pashtoon and see another Pashtoon propping up or supporting a Punjabi over you, or joining in with them to say negative things, in fights, politics, etc. after a while, your going to disassociate yourself from them and what actually ends up happening is that all people from Afghanistan, Pashtoon or non-Pashtoon end up becoming closer out of necessity and because they are being lumped into one group. It's rampant in the city areas, especially Peshawar I think but I haven't heard any bad stories out of Quetta. The one's I've met that are farther away from the city, namely Peshawar, the more they don't have any issues with Afghan Pashtoons and sincerely believe were one people (probably because of the media not having as strong a grip and not be as integrated in Pakistani society). It becomes downright treasonous to most any Afghan Pashtoon to align yourself with Punjabis so it furthers the rift when, like you said, there hand-in-hand with them in the military, political, social capacities etc.

As a Baloch living in Quetta, when I was a young kid, I thought Pashtun and Afghan were two different things. I too developed hate for afghans as they were seem to me as "intruders" with nasty behavior and terrorist like ideology. As a kid I developed extreme love for Pakistan because I was too brainwashed in school. I always wanted to paint the Pakistani flag because I loved paintings. My teachers always told me to paint the Pakistani flag and always draw Pakistan related things. Having no idea what Balochistan or Afghanistan was, that was the only flag I wanted to paint. Because I was too brainwashed unlike any other kid and had no idea what Balochistan or Afghanistan was. I can say we were strongly brainwashed. Everyday singing the national anthem and learning about Pakistan Studies (in history books), learning about the sacrifices and key Pakistani figures, learning about the donkey Qaid Azam, Illama Iqbal, etc. This was all warped with the word "Muslim", that we were all muslims and we are pakistani and we are one. We sang Pakistani songs on a daily basis, saying Dil Dil pakistan with cheer excitement. However, Growing up showed me how the Pakistanis put me and my nation in darkness and brainwashing us to believe in their "country" and their "ideology" and mixing us as one of them, depriving of our rights and putting us in darkness about the forced merge of Balochistan in 1948. Pashtuns are brainwashed in schools as a young age as well, so ofcourse they would grow up to show hate towards afghans and and their "original" history. I would say the Panjabis/Urdu speaking people are successful in brainwashing us.

                    Look at this video.

What history though? I don't understand how people can't see past 100 years and remember it wasn't like this. Pakistan was Hindustan primarily and then they took Sarhad with it when the British left Afghanistan and then you have the whole Baloch issue. It just boggles my mind but I don't know the people that are "intruding" are going to end up being the only thing left of Pashtoons the rest will just get absorbed. If it continues in the manner your describing, then Hazaras, Tajiks, and Uzbeks will be upholding Pashtonwali more then the Pashtoons on the other side of the Durrand. It might sound dramatic, but in truth, in 100 years or so we will be completely divided - it's just absolutely asinine to me.

It's not rocket science, you speak the same language, you have the same tribal names, 100 years ago you had the same borders, and a common history. On the other hand, all the people you learn about in school are not your race, don't look like you, don't speak like you, and consider you inferior and the root of your country's problems. Why is it so hard to see through that?

Mainly their history books contains the fightbook of India and Pakistan and how they got their separation, nothing more. Afghanistan on the other hand is an ancient 4000 year old land and have existed even the time of Alexander the great.

Pakistan was Hindustan primarily and then they took Sarhad with it when the British left Afghanistan and then you have the whole Baloch issue.
Minus Balochistan, and Sarhad. There you go that's your Pakistan. It's very tiny indeed.

It might sound dramatic, but in truth, in 100 years or so we will be completely divided - it's just absolutely asinine to me.
100 years? That's just too much. Pashtuns already are completely divided. You have no idea, step into Sarhad and look at their remarks you will shiet bricks. You have no idea.

On the other hand, all the people you learn about in school are not your race, don't look like you, don't speak like you, and consider you inferior and the root of your country's problems.
Very true. But Pakistan is very strong man. The main reason of it being strong are Pashtuns. But overall their foundation is pretty strong. ISI itself is very strong and will make sure that "pashtun/baloch" ideoly reamins the same. Meaning they will make sure that they believe in the state of Pakistan through brainwashing and if they don't they will wiped out. The main reason of it being the media, you believe what you hear or see in the media 90% of the time. They control you. They control us. There isnt we can do much about it. We can't open their eyes because it's nearly impossible to tell each ONE of them about who they are and what Afghanistan is. It's too late. This will get worse. And if you don't believe me try going to Sarhad and hear their remarks.

If you say that Sarhad should be with Afghanistan, the Pashtuns living there will kidnap you the other day. You have zero idea how brainwashed they are.

                        • The thread got me to wonder about other groups and the Baloch specifically given your username. They are as follows:

Do Baloch have similar issues across countries as between Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan? Are the Baloch who don't speak Balochi but instead Pashto or Farsi considered less Baloch?

Why do you think any separatist movements like the one in Pakistan has stayed so secular and nationalistic? Also, any similar Baloch websites? Would be curious to see the give and take as between the different countries Baloch population.

Yes, unfortunately the Baloch do. Half of Balochistan has been taken by Iran. The iranian province of Sistan-va-Baluchestan is also Balochistan. So basically Iran and Pakistan sliced Balochistan in two and are enjoying its natural recourses. Baloch also claim that some part of balochistan is in Afghanistan as well. and that is also balochistan map. for example.

                            this is a better map

this is an old map of balochistan.

Balochistan is geographycally very unique. It borders Afghanistan, Borders Iran, is very very close to UAE. It also has Dubai surface levels off the coast. can also connect to Afghanistan, Iran for development and is very very rich full of gold, copper, oil.

Baloch only speak Balochi, i haven't met anyone who speaks pashto or farsi but if they do then no problem, no one cares, as long as dad is baloch he/she is considered Baloch. No such thing as less baloch, etc. But they will be somewhat considered less baloch, it's true, but mostly no. unless their mixed with panjabis (indic groups) .. lol jk jk.

Lets say being a pashtun if your dad is pashtun and mom is lets say urdu speaking, would they be considered less pashtun ?? you have the answer amigo.

Yes, unfortunately they don't let Islam take over their sepetarist movement. Mainly because if they follow Islam then Islam says muslims are brothers, so that is against their reform, they target panjabis and other ethnic groups (hazaras, etc) who populate Balochistan or who want to take over it (Army, etc). So they don't care if they are muslim they just want them gone and the a slow massacre is carried every day. 10 Baloch die everyday, then the BLA get's mad, they target 10 army people, then army gets mad they kill theirs, and then they get mad. So it's continuing. Khuzdar is one of the dangerous places ever (Baloch, Army dogfights). Quetta too, but not that much.

They are secular, they want to remain secular. Mainly because they want to kil the Army generals and not grief just because they are muslims.

But they will be somewhat considered less baloch, it's true, but mostly no. unless their mixed with panjabis (indic groups) .. lol jk jk.

I see - a few points. The Baloch 100% do speak other languages - I don't know which part of Balochistan your refering to, but every single Baloch I have met speaks Farsi or Pashto. As to Pashto, even very rural Baloch, even many of the women know Pashto. This is in Afghanistan and Iran. As to Pakistan, I assume as much given the fact that so many live in Quetta but could be wrong. Similarly, most of the Baloch in Dubai, Kuwait, Oman, etc. speak Arabic and many, many, many Baloch only speak Arabic as a first language and are mixed or simply have become absorbed into the country and its people.

Also, as to the secularist/religious thing, I don't think that argument holds water because many other groups have acted similarly incorporating religion and fighting other Muslims with various justifications.

As to the mixing of Baloch and non-Baloch, Pashtoon and non-Pashtoon, yes we are patriarchal and therefore whatever your father is your mother is as well. But when push comes to shove, depending on what your mixed with, there might be things said about it questioning you.

Also, with respect to the Baloch that I know, they do discriminate amongst one another. I've heard comments from those on the Afghan side who feel their more tribal their Baloch customs untouched and tougher then the ones in Pakistan or Iran. I've heard others from the Iran side laud their superiority in terms of education (religious and secular), established businesses, etc. and look down on the more tribal Baloch similar to what many Pakistani Pukhtoons say considering the Afghan side more tribal and therefore backwards.

Just food for thought and my experiences. Any similar Baloch Forum online somewhere - curious to hear a larger range of opinions?

Mate i think the person u r talking to here is not even a baloch(i suspect) ..i dont know where he got his all so called true facts..everything i read is false. if he is a true baloch he shud be sitting somewhere under his sardar not using internet.
i dont see any difference between him and extremists(talibs) who both have been shown dreams of jannah and azad balochistan
