ive always been proud being a Pakhtun, and I hoped I would meet a Pashtana...but I fell in love with and got engaged to a Herati Farsi zaban girl.
She loves Pashto and is proud that her man, and her kids, will be Pakhtun. She has commited her self to learning Pashto, and we have agreed that our kids will be raised in Pashto (from my end) and English (from her end)
once our kids are 13....we teach them Farsi.
The way I figure it...Im gonna singlehandedly reverse this trend of Pakhtun men marrying Farsi women and adopting their language

lol thank you very much for the offer. ill get her to join up sure.Originally posted by JasmineI hope, I really do. Have her come to PF so I can teach her Pashto.
im actually working on a Pakhto 101 booklet for her...Ive actually written it with my father, and its written specifically for the Dari speaker. I put Dari words and sentences and equivalents with the Pashto to give the student a better understanding
its not designed to teach the reader full Pukhto but to give them the basics and make them semi fluent
ll be done it soon hopefully. there are so many people who have put requests forward for a copy...mostly dari speaking Pakhtuns
Im going to singlehandedly reverse the trends of Dari speaking Pakhtuns who cant speak Pashto
:p

The creator of the thread gave her stance in the first post as well as perhaps throughout the first hundred pages of the threadOriginally posted by abubaker View Posthow come no ones asked the thread create for his stance on this
There. So I believe that if you marry someone who's not from your culture, then you should be burdened with teaching your children both YOUR culture/language as well as that of your spouse's. Otherwise, it's unjust if the children have to learn only ONE language and not both. Now, if both parents are from different cultures/races but speak the same language (e.g., both are Pashtuns but don't know Pashto and speak only English), then it starts not to matter.Originally posted by Qrratugai View PostI wouldn't [marry a non-Pashtun] but only because I will want my kids to speak Pukhto. So, it's not just the Pukhtun blood that matters to me; he has to speak the language and know the culture well as well. Otherwise, I wouldn't marry him.
And I don't support the belief that children are whatever race their father is. I believe if the child belongs to mixed parents, then he is mixed, and it's unfair of the parents to teach him the culture/language of only ONE parent's and not the other's, too. So I wouldn't prefer a non-Pukhtun not because I'm a woman but because I want my kids to be Pukhtun by blood AND by culture. It'd be too much work teaching them two language and cultures at the same time if their father isn't Pukhtun :D
