Where does stand the movemnt of Faqir Ipi and where is the movement of Bacha Khan? You dont feel the difference. It is misunderstood that Bacha Khan follow the gandhi ideology. Bacha Khan felt, and he felt very rightly, that pashtoons destruction is few things, first is the weapon, so he started non-violance, then he saw rhey are illitrate he started azad schools, He saw they dont come to business he symbolically started a shop in his village, he felt that pashtoons have no mdeia, he started monthly pashtoon for them.
I feel after 100 yeras he has the right strategy. What happens to them for Pakistan or something else, it is a history and written and preserved. Hository is going to decide about him, what he did and how he was.
He never opposed Mirza ALi Khan haji, it was Mirza ALi khan haji who opposed Bahca Kahn, the problem was that Hindu girl, named islam bibi or so.
Of course he opposed Mirza Ali Khan, or we would have our own state by now.

This is my point, Bacha khan was deceived by the Indians and Bacha Khan is wrong to suggest that the gun was bad at the time. If he had opted for a armed struggle, then we would have our own state by force.

    Kind Regards

Erlanger malgariya, what is the need for all this? Baacha Khan and Faqir of Ipi are two legendary Pashtun leaders. The only difference between them is that Baacha Khan was more of a social reformer who blended it with political struggle. Faqir of Ipi's method was more direct. Both had the same goal, Pashtun/Afghan Milli Wahdat but differed over the disciurse to follow.
Again, may I ask the both of you, to what end are you trying to prove one superior over the other. What benefit does it give us?

What contributions did he do on a realistic sense?

It was mostly the Tribals who were fighting the British while Bacha Khans family were promoting Non violence ideology which contradicts developing your own state. Without a armed struggle nothing can be acheived.

Those ANP supporters who promote Bacha Khans assessment of Pashtuns, that the gun will destroy Pashtun unity etc, but however, what is our current state at the moment, we still use guns on eachother, and so does the ANP with Pakistan Army.

We must adapt Mirza Ali Khans ideology and fight for our right till the last drop, we must promote Pashtun unity by force, and remove the parasites within our society who work against us.

        Kind Regards

I think we aim more or less same, but to reach there, we have different ways. I want to reach there through non-violance and you are arguing for violance. I respect Faqir Ipi much but I am against his struggle as it died with his death and non-violant struggles survive longer. However, if we have a separate country in our lives, then I will walk through empty handed, and you gun on your shoulder.

Malgariya, Baacha Khan's strategy was to associate himself with a wider populist movement ie the Congress than remain a fringe party or movement on the outskirts of India proper. Baacha Khan's contributions are endless despite the fact that he remained non-voilent. Personally, I think he should have taken up arms after the 'You have thrown us to the wolves' Congress session.

See non-violance was his belief. Ya he rightly said you have thrown us into wolves and congress did very bad to Khudai khitmatgar. But Muslim League did worse.

Many and diverse. He was the pioneer of political struggle among Afghans on both sides of the Durand Line. But that is besides the point.
And why do you believe a state cannot be achieved without resorting to violence. Sometimes, violence is a pre-requisite for peace but not in every case. In all independence movements throught the Third World, armed resistance was preceeded by political struggle.

I know no one cares how I feel or think, but I am truly disappointed with anyone who has this idea of I can mess around with NON whatevers, and then marry whatever.

May Allah tala guide you all InshaAllah.

There are points in all our lives (yes, most of us) where we feel our own people are just selfish, culture-focused egoists with no values or care for what their younger generations want. And at that time, we tell ourselves, I am SO not marrying into my own people, if not me, then my children at least will have that choice. Teenage flashbacks, yep. Over the years though, you meet people, you travel, you experience culture, food, traditions and witness the extent to which the Deen is practiced and it all seems too alien. Then you just wish you never let the former thought get into you.

Time and time again I say, that Alhamdulillah, having seen other people, other cultures, I am very thankful to be a Pakhtana, for many many reasons. Pakhto's value in my eyes is obviously another topic, but this story adds to how much our values are worth. I asked my father about going interstate to do my Masters in a course that is not offered here in my city. He thought and said: Bachay, tiga khpel pe zi ke drana da, ke wode khwazawela, no speka shi. Nor hets khabera neda, bas, sta pe paakey au pe izat ke dagh wolagede, no khabera kharapeegi. Sta pe paakey au izat da tola duniya ne arzi. My heart melted at those words, and thought, even though I very strongly desire to do that postgrad course, my father opened my eyes to a lot more and yet again, brought me back to my shoes, to a society who is constantly waiting to point. Why do I say this? Because our immediate, fellow Afghans (Farsiwans) dont have the same values. Let alone being on the path of the Deen etc, far from it. A Farsiwan girl I know once told me she thought of her brother as *the* best in the world. Upon asking her why, she said, because he is understanding in the sense that he took me out to a nightclub when I was 'of age' so that I feel safer, had I gone with someone else. Get my drift?

So, I would want these same things, effortlessly passed on to my children without me having to stress about them 'adopting' something else (yes, something). But, if one did care so much about loss of culture, language etc, would they really marry into another race of people? Well, emotions sometimes do overtake us...but Khair. Personally, with time, I have come to realise its *got* to be into a Pakhtun family. And I say this because I know my weaknesses and strengths. Being the youngest in the family - I havent dared to bring up the topic of cross-cultural marriages, though there was a time when I was very for them. So that leaves me clueless about my family's views. My extended famly has had quite a few of the kind, but, theyre extended right?

Again, it depends on what you base your marriage on as well. Deen is number one, but things like language carry equal value in a relationship, as it is through communication that one can teach and pass on things to others, and if our languages are different, clearly, it becomes difficult. In a relationship, at least ones major characteristics should have a common ground. That, then, opens the path to other things. And talking of failure and success in marriage using others as an example shouldnt be the reason we stop ourselves from doing things. Every individual is different, better or weaker than the other, it all comes down to that too.

And, we usually go on about things like this, but were unaware of what destiny has in store. Destiny... *sigh*

Your are generalizing a whole people based on your experience of few... come here to LA and see Pashtan girls going out with pakis, HIndus, and even black... take a look at this girl Raihana Niazi-Killens she is a lawyer and married to a Black guy. The fact is some girls in here might pretend..some might say the reality...you can not force girls like you could back home... if a girl wants to be bad..then she will be..you can not lock her...same is true for good girls.

                        • ^Pashtuns are known to be far more conservative though. For example, despite me being from Kabul and being a Tajik I can be honest enough to admit that my peers drink, club and have had pre-marital sex. But my Pashtana friends, They always wear Hijabs and you barely ever see them out.

                          • ^I thought the same, but that's not true. Those types of ppl are in EVERY group ..but it honestly depends on the areas you live in too...some places ... don't have girls that are as conservative as other places ... (I am talking about the whole pashtana girls thing)...and yes its generalizing.

But for Tajik men to marry Pashtun is almost possible.

some Afghanistani Pashtuns won't even let Pakistan Pashtuns marry their wife or even another tribe within their province.
Although im Pashton by blood but not langauge...but there are a lot of inter-marriage between Pashton girls and non-pashton afghan man...both my parents father are Pashton but my father and moms mothers are Tajik...my moms uncle is married to a Mohamdzia pashton lady..but she just like us can not speak pashto.
