My definition of torture surely isn't an unequal status alongside a male. Although words have linguistic definitions, I like give more weight to the definition derived from a life experience and for that reason our definitions will undoubtedly be different which are either very sensitive, like a glass house which shatters with pebbles, or, lack of a better word, heavy duty, like a glass house which doesn't fall apart with bricks.

You and I think each case needs to be dealth with individually, people back home dont! its either black or white. u are either a model woman or a bad one. "cry me a river if u are being abused by ur husband, that is ur husbands house and u cant leave that house, its against our ghairat".. this is wht pashtoon women face. I have seen this with my own eyes. a woman walks into her father's house hoping he will save her from her abusive husband, who has beat the crap out of her and blood is gushing through her nose and mouth, and all she hears is "sorry, u have to go back, i will talk to him about it and hopefully he won't do this again, but u can't stay here, what will the people say"... "hopefully"?????...
There are little differences of opinion you and I have to settle as the gist of your post is only a bitter reminder of the treatment women experience, not only a Pakhtana if you ask me, and I can sympathise with you on a lot of the points because, as a woman, I too aspire such stations for our women, including you and I, however, I am coming to think that the latter part of my first post was misunderstood by you, thus this (your) response.

When you asked if I would label women such women in the same light or how I would 'label', I responded by saying, no each case has to be dealt with and understood differently before, as you put it, labeling them. Judging a situation is never the answer, as judgments are more than often unfair ones which yield biased decisions and baseless conclusions. Like I said, context is vital to understanding the deeper concern in any situation, be it a woman who is being tortured, be it mine or your differences in opinion.

                    Back to the topic folks.

To be fair to Gulbabo, has some valid concerns; but to claim that unequal treatment equates into torture is melodramatic and logically absurd

There are many examples of unequal treatment which can't possibly be construed as torture. If you give your son a steak and your daughter chicken, she's hardly being tortured. One is conflating an issue of degree to equality. Something of severe issues such as swara or domestic abuse cannot equate to issues of equality generally speaking.

Are you kind of male-chauvinist or what? I see an utter apathy in your attitude towards women ... a little humanism, please.

That is best definition. But this characteristics cant be present in pakhtana of west as they are not part of pashtun society.

someone standing up for her right infront of her husband, father, brother would be disobedient?

i would like to know your views more about these two words 'obedient' and 'patient'
As i already said , doing pakhto is difficult in west. So gulabo or what ever is your name...leave this backward and brutal pashtuniyat to us , the pashtuns of homeland. And you go on enjoying the westren liberties. We dont classify you as pashtun and you should not stick with backward and barbarian pashtun nation.

your response shows that u are not competent enough for me to have a healthy discussion/debate with you, so writing to u would be complete waste of time. but thanks for making the post... i find it useful to decide which members to avoid.

Ofcourse queen gulabo, you should not argue with a jahil pashtun like me who physically and mentally torture his wife on daily basis, has given all of his daughters to swarra and is thinking of killing some one with kohatay topak.
