Midnight, according to the website, south west asian is actually a mix of south asian and west asian. In fact I think it is actually more south indian, rather than south west arabian, because south indians have 58% of that component. I wish they divided it by actual regions, because it is confusing

Under the section for Southwest and Southeast Asian, it mentions this specifically:Originally posted by Karachi View PostMidnight, according to the website, south west asian is actually a mix of south asian and west asian. Southwest Asian
This component of your ancestry is found at highest frequencies in India and neighboring populations, including Tajikistan and Iran in our reference dataset. It is also found at lower frequencies in Europe and North Africa. As with the Mediterranean component, it was likely spread during the Neolithic expansion, perhaps from the eastern part of the Fertile Crescent. Individuals with heavy European influence in their ancestry will show traces of this because all Europeans have mixed with people from Southwest Asia over tens of thousands of years.
Southeast Asian
This component of your ancestry is found at highest frequencies in the populations of southeast Asia and India, particularly in the northeast Indian and Vietnamese populations in our reference set. It is also found at lower frequency in populations from Oceania, where it persists as a signal of the Austronesian migrations into the region beginning ~5,000 years ago—a migration that would eventually colonize Polynesia. Interestingly, it is also found in the population of Madagascar, brought there by the seafaring Austronesians around 2,000 years ago.
Here is the description of Mediteranean:
This component of your ancestry is found at highest frequencies in southern Europe and the Levant—people from Sardinia, Italy, Greece, Lebanon, Egypt and Tunisia in our reference populations. While not limited to these groups, it is found at lower frequencies throughout the rest of Europe, the Middle East, Central and South Asia. This component is likely the signal of the Neolithic population expansion from the Middle East, beginning around 8,000 years ago, likely from the western part of the Fertile Crescent.
As you can see, they are not actually the same thing.

I see.. so if the Pashtuns on average have over 50%, does this basically mean Pashtuns are a homogenous race?Originally posted by Midnight_Sun View PostManzareh,
Because of the wide dispersal pattern of R1a, any ethnicities having 50% or greater homogeneity is considered significant.----------

Maybe its only with this Wardak family. But your'e right the majority of Wardaks don't have that look. I think the Uruzgan Pashtuns look a bit different. Maybe they have a few hazara admixtures? Who knows.Originally posted by Adam View PostI've noticed it with pashtuns from uruzgan but those from wardak look normal to me"Revenge is a dish best served cold".

I've noticed it with my Uncle's wife's family. They're Mangal, and they appear slightly Turkic, though not too heavily mongoloid. She often gets mistaken for being of Turkish origin because of the shape of cheekbones.Originally posted by Kushan Prince View PostHas anyone noticed that the pashtuns of uruzgan and the Wardak tribe in general look a bit mongoloid? I've never been mistaken for East Asian and nor has my immediate family. One of my uncles has some Asian features, but they're not overly pronounced. He can pass for an Uzbek. He looks nothing like my other uncles.Originally posted by Kushan Prince View PostHave you, or anyone in your family gotten mistaken for east asian?
I smell something fishy...

He looks Turkic. The lower portion of his face doesn't, but the upper portion (especially the eyes) look Turkic. But maybe he's just old, and his face is drooping, and he's in need of eyeglasses? Who knows? Lol.Originally posted by Kushan Prince View PostMaybe some members in your family mixed with uzbeks in the past? lol.

Yeah the big lower lip and wide nose is a huge giveaway. Do you ever wonder why some pashtuns look like that? I thought i was a master at telling who is pashtun and who is not just by looking at them.Originally posted by pashtanajan View PostHe looks Turkic.
