She was my great grandmother. If my eldest grandfather would be alive he would be atleast 95 years old. My other grandfather just died in April at the age of 84, so I don't have much info other than she was a Syed from saiyyadgi village (note from map). And my parents always said that she spoke fluent Arabic.Originally posted by RevolutionThroughReason View PostWas your grandmother Syrian or Iraqi? because the Syeds of Afghanistan are usually from one of the two.
My paternal Khadar Khel is located near the vicinity as well. There's one in North Waziristan (as seen), and another across the Durand Line in Paktika. What I'm trying to figure out which village my great grandparents came from.
I know that my "younger grandfather" was born in the mid-20's in a refugee camp or something like that in Ghazni. They left their village to head out to Kabul. Which at the same time the Waziri revolt against the British which makes me wonder if that was the reason why my family moved to Kabul. If they lived at the Khadar Khel in Paktika they wouldn't be a reason why a lot of the Kharoti branch would randomly emigrate.
There's also a Khadar Khel sub tribe of the Waziri's as there is for the Kharoti. Are they both Waziri and Kharoti? They're kuchi and parallel to each other which makes it more confusing to find out. My parents were born and raised in Kabul, so I cannot get much info from them.
Just trying to puzzle out my roots.

^ I find it interesting UP Muslims are showing lots of foreign ancestry on the Harrapa project, I guess because Delhi/UP area was where many Afghans, Central Asians etc... settled
The Haryana/UP area is also interesting for the North East European component, the hindus in that area are showing the highest North East European component in all of south asia. I wonder how it got there?Last edited by Karachi; 08-10-2013, 12:03 AM.

I asked my dad about this and he says they are Kharoti.Originally posted by کیش View PostAre the Khadar Khel's both considered Kharoti and Waziri? There's a sub branch of Wazir that's Khadar Khel, and a Khadar Khel from Kharoti. There's also a village of Khadar Khel on the border of the province of Paktika and North Waziristan, and there's a village of Khadar Khel a few kilometers away inside North Waziristan?
I'm a Khadar Khel, and my family says we're Kharoti. But my great grandparents left their village during the 20's right about the time between the British-Waziri war) to live in a refugee camp in Ghazni before relocating to Kabul. My parents were both born in Kabul and obviously weren't alive in that time so they don't know too much about this issue. My grandfathers were brothers, and my dads dad was born in Ghazni in 1926, and my mothers father is the oldest sibling and my mom doesn't really know where he was born.
There's also syedagi's (descendants of the Prophet) in North Waziristan, and my great grand mother was one. She spoke Arabic as a first language and Pashto as second."Revenge is a dish best served cold".

Yup exactly. The Durand line is just an imaginary line that has no meaning at all. There's a lot of kharoti and Ahmadzais in waziristan so it's not only limited to waziris.Originally posted by کیش View PostThey are a lot of Kharoti in Waziristan. The Durand line was randomly drawn out. It's not much a border there as you could walk between Paktika and NW."Revenge is a dish best served cold".
