    .
How else would you follow my thoughts?
    .
Apart from that, the thread shows that many of the debaters seem to have diametrically different views on the following questions. And unfortunately I have experienced that few of us seem to stick stubbornly to their rigid thought patterns.
    .
In my view, as long as we haven't reached a minimum consensus at least on some of the following and some other questions, we are nothing more than a disoriented, chaotic huddle and waste of talents.
    .

    1. Which was first Jihadi movement or Soviet invasion?
    2. Pashtunwali = Islam, is this equation universally valid?
    3. Secularism = threat to Islam, i.e. does secularism restrict religious freedom?
    4. Do we have to obey a standard, binding, global definition of Islam, a doctrine?
    5. Do we have to tolerate AlQaida & Taliban temporarily as a means to return to power?
    6. If so, have we met any arrangements not to revert to Jihadist or Taliban eras?
    7. Do Pashtuns play a key role in the region?
    8. If so, what efforts have we made to benefit from that? What's our political agenda?
    9. Why are Saudis involved in supporting our Jihad only, why not also at their home?
    10. Who makes our young Pashtuns firmly believe in apocalyptic tales like Afghanistan being the ultimate battle field for the struggle between good and evil?
most of your questions are not fully thought of

    1:question irrelevant
    2.never heard of that
3.seculerism is not a direct threat to Islam but seculer system in muslim countries will try to margenalize practicing muslims and give brith to dictators such as kamal ataturk, husni mubarak, saudi royals, saddam etc.
and why should we ask seculerism(which needs much more explaining regarding what it actually is)to give us freedom of religion in a predominantely muslims country such as Afghanistan.it may be good for countries who have many different views and religions but not in a country where people are united with being muslims and now you want to devide them and make them different parties.

4.Islam is Islam and its universal not just global
    5.misleading question
    6.follow up
7.yes they can play a key if they are united and knwo their value.
8.we havent done much and have baited the attempts by others to cause friction among us.there is much to be done.
9.we dont know if the saudis are involved ,i think saudis are involved with americans and their invasion of AFG.
10.Islamic values Foreign invasions and Afghan history /Afghanistan is not the ultimate battlefield but Afghanistan is the ultimate unconquered land.

Thank you for taking your time and sharing your views on that.
      .
I have to admit that the 2. question is phrased wrongly - it should read:

"2. Establishing Islam as a state religion, it that a declared objective of Pashtunwali?"
      .
These questions are my personal summary of what I understand as the disputable momentums of this thread. At the same time, however, I have experienced Pashtuns elsewhere being controversial over these points.
      .
I fully agree with the belief that at this moment we should not waste our time on marginal debates. But in this case the the portion of skeptics having profound fears of sliding into a dictatorship whether clerical (which is not necessarily Islamic) or western satellite state style, their share is simply too large to be ignored.
      .
The Pashtun community is split over various other issues and therefor we need something like a unique identifier which could also be religion, of course.
But is a Theocracy which in fact is the reign of some so called religious scholars guarantee enough for a stable, everlasting union?
      .
And your are right again, question Nr. 5 according to equalizing Taliban with AlQaida indeed misleading. They are not the same and the majority of Taliban are partisans. And there is no doubt people who struggle for freedom and self-determination don't deserve to be demonized.
I even understand their motivation for the most part of their policies till 2001 despite some really cardinal errors.

      • Good questions

        1. Which was first Jihadi movement or Soviet invasion?Mujahideen and Taliban were no doubt created after 1979, after the former USSR invasion. Before that Pashtuns were not radicalized.
        2. Pashtunwali = Islam, is this equation universally valid?Islam is a religion while Pashtunwali is a culture and society. Both can remain together as Arab culture remains together with Islam. The problem is when we mix culture and religion.
        3. Secularism = threat to Islam, i.e. does secularism restrict religious freedom?Secularism is not at all a threat to Islam rather it will give Islam its due place being a religion and not polity or society or economy.
        4. Do we have to obey a standard, binding, global definition of Islam, a doctrine? The definition is that Islam is a religion with its own set of beleifs, modes of worship and own standards of morality.
        5. Do we have to tolerate AlQaida & Taliban temporarily as a means to return to power? They are evils and evils cant be tolerated not for a single second. Where in the world we have Taliban or Alqaida. Why only Pashtuns should have them
        6. If so, have we met any arrangements not to revert to Jihadist or Taliban eras?If so yes we will revert and Afghanistan will once again become the land of civil war as it was after the with drawl of Soviet union.
        7. Do Pashtuns play a key role in the region? Pashtuns play the key role as the anti Taliban Karzai is the president of Afghanistan while Taliban are also Pashtuns. Yes the language of Pashto does not play a big role.
        8. If so, what efforts have we made to benefit from that? What's our political agenda? No benifit from having Taliban. Yes we have now an elected parliament and democracy is growing.
        9. Why are Saudis involved in supporting our Jihad only, why not also at their home?Yes why not in their own land
        10. Who makes our young Pashtuns firmly believe in apocalyptic tales like Afghanistan being the ultimate battle field for the struggle between good and evil? This all the propaganda of Taliban and religious extremists that Pashtuns have to fight the war of Islam but why Pashtuns why not others. As the extremists dont have a legitimate rule they revert to terrorism. There is not a single Muslim state who support Taliban. Why only Pashtuns should support them!

        • Thank you for responding to my questions. I appreciate your clear statements.
          .
I am afraid I don't fully agree with some cases but what is more important to me is to find out which views our compatriots take.
