Because there is something called "cultural imperialism" that its key in Islam. But this phenomenon also happens in the West (actually its much stronger their soft power) but seems Islamophobes doesn't care so much about it. You only become patriot about Arabs.

Agreed, there's definitely far less racial disharmony in the US/Canada than many parts of Europe. The problem appears to be greater with illegals, than with legals.

You sure about that? Here in Europe we feel like its the other way around. We consider USA to be an extremely racist country. Here in Europe is not like that (there is a problem with Islamic immigration but still our crime rates is much lower than in the USA).

I would say so. Depends where in the US. Canada is fairly consistent. I hear things are improving a lot, so maybe this has flipped. It's not out of the ordinary to succeed as a minority in either US/Ca. Per my recollection, this wasn't the case in many European countries. It may be different now. UK I hear is really good. I've lived in the UK, but I was very young. I should probably make a Euro trip.

I'm a little surprised you say this, though. Europeans are the ones supporting people like Geert Wilders. Perhaps it's the same story, of "it depends where". Then again, Geert is in Holland.. one of the most liberal countries in the world.

The West is a power in decay and they can't control the world anymore. Since Globalization and the Liberal Order are collapsing people are turning once again toward their national identities (this process si happening all around the world since the fall of the URSS, the end of Cold War and the ideological paradigma).

I do agree though that in Europe there is a racial/ethnic factor involved. Unlike in the USA, which is considered the melting pot, Europe has a rich and old identity/heritage, related to its own native people. You can't be a pure European unless you adopt fully their ways. And even then you wouldnt be considered an European after all you are not European White. But in the USA anyone can be American. Still I believe there is less racism in Europe than in the USA. The end of the Cold War represented the end of the age of ideological wars. Now identity has taken over. People are not fighting over ideologies anymore. Its all about nationalism, religion, money, natural resources and so on.

It depends. Many people are feeling that due to globalization their jobs are fleeing to cheaper countries. But they also feel that globalization is a threat to their identity. Well its all their own fault I guess. They have been fighting to impose their Liberal Order for many decades. After the defeat of the URSS Liberal Order took over. And now they are realizing that the West has lost its leverage over the rest of the world. Thanks to the system created by the West non Western countries have developed and now they are becoming rivals and they are even overtaking in several fields such as economy and modern technology. So thats unacceptable for many of them.

Europe is surrounded by hostile entities such as Russia and Muslims. And Europeans are weak people. They won't even put a fight. There is a growing anxiety and fear about the future. Its the best scenario for populist forces to emerge.
