Shahidullah ShahidA senior commander of the militant group of Islamic State or Daesh has been killed in a drone strike in eastern Nangarhar province, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) – Afghanistan’s intelligence agency announced on Thursday.
A statement issued by the NDS states that the airstrike which killed Daesh’s second-in-command Gul Zaman and his deputy Jahadyar has also taken the life of Shaikh Maqbool alias Shahidullah Shahid.
“Based on #NDS intelligence, Mawlawi Shahedullah Shahed, a senior ISIS commander was killed in a air strike in Achin district, Nengarhar.” NDS stated in a tweet posted Thursday afternoon.
Dozens of other militants were also killed in this airstrike conducted earlier this week.
Hailing from Pakistan’s Aurakzai agency, Shahidullah Shahid was a spokesman for the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) who later pledged allegiance to the Islamic State or Daesh.
He was one of the few senior members of TTP who joined Daesh when it first emerged in the region few months before.
According to NDS, Shahid under the umbrella of Daesh planned to engulf a widened war in the region and play a central role for it.

              NDS special task force2
The Afghan Intelligence – National Directorate of Security (NDS) released a video of Special Task Force which has been formed to combat the affiliates of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group in Afghanistan.
NDS informed regarding the formation of the Special Task Force earlier this month amid reports that the terror group looks to gain foothold in Afghanistan.
NDS spokesman Haseeb Sediqi told reporters Special Force is comprised of three units, Intelligence, Analysis and Operational Unit.
He said the Special Force has been formed based on the anti-Daesh strategy of the government.
According to Sediqi, the Special Force began its operation they killed Mullah Abdul Rawouf in southern Helmand province.
He also added that recently the Special Force arrested a group of six members of Daesh in Achin District of eastern Nangarhar province, noting that one of the six was previously a key commander of Taliban.
The video of the Special Task Force which was released this afternoon by NDS, demonstrates the capabilities of the forces while conducting training exercises.

The video begins with the demonstration of atrocities committed by the terror group in Syria and Iraq where thousands of people have been brutally killed.
The video illustrates the Task Force members capabilities who are equipped with modern weapons including surveillance camera to monitor the activities of the affiliates of the terror group.
This comes as there have been growing concerns that the ISIS group is looking to gain foothold in Afghanistan as the militants in the battlefield have started rebranding by pledging allegiance to the terror group.
Pentagon also released a report earlier last month stating that the terror group is likely to continue looking for ways to expand their activities in Afghanistan.
According to the report, the US forces have noted a few militants re-branding themselves, likely in an attempt to draw media attention, greater resources and more recruits.
“ISIL’s presence and influence in Afghanistan remains in the initial exploratory phase,” the report said, adding that “The Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan has publicly expressed support for ISIL as the leader of the global jihad; however, the Taliban has declared that it will not allow ISIL in Afghanistan.”
According to the Afghan national security advisor Hanif Atmar, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group is looking to have access to drugs market by starting operations in Afghanistan.
Speaking to lawmakers in the upper house of the parliament – Meshrano Jirga earlier in May, Atmar, said the terror group wants to finance the group’s activities by having access to drugs market.
Atmar warned that the terror group wants to expand its operations not only in Afghanistan but the whole region and wants infiltrate in Central Asian countries.

                    • Islamabad: Pakistan has decided against call the Middle Eastern terrorist outfit by its "Islamic State" preferred name and instead refer to it as "Daesh", an Arabic acronym the group hates.
"I would refer to the outfit as Daesh as there is nothing Islamic about it," foreign office spokesman Qazi Khalilullah said in reply to a question at his weekly media briefing on Thursday.
The foreign ministry previously had been using both IS and Daesh in its statements.
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius was among the first leaders who avoided calling the group with its preferred name and US and Australian leaders followed.
There have also been calls by Muslim scholars to call the group Daesh in a move to de-legitimise it.
The group likes to be called Islamic State because it negates the concept of borders and promotes a vision of one Muslim caliphate. It also suggests existence of a central authority instead of roving groups of mercenaries.
Daesh is an Arabic acronym for "Al Dawla al Islamyia fil Iraq wal Sham", the group's original name, which when translated, means "Islamic State in Iraq and Syria" or "Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant".
But the group feels offended when it is called Daesh and threatened to cut the tongues of those who used it.
Daesh has now become an insult in Arabic and was used to refer to extremists, who can even kill to impose their belief on others.
Pakistani officials have always denied the existence of the group in the country, but have said they were on alert against its emergence. A number of extremist groups in the country have expressed their loyalty to the group which is trying to establish a foothold in Afghanistan.
"Pakistan has alerted its security agencies to the threat posed by Daesh. Our authorities are vigilant and have been advised to take necessary action in this regard, if required,” Khalilullah said.

President Ghani 2President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has put Daesh or the Islamic State militant group at stage six.
In an exclusive interview, President Ghani has told Russia’s RT news that Al-Qaeda was the terrorism version 1 but Daesh is the sixth version of terrorism.
“If Al-Qaeda was terrorism version one, Daesh [the Arabic acronym for ISIS] is terrorism version six,” he told RT news.
“The organizational form is totally modern. The means of communication deployed, the networking, the recruitment through the internet. So the morphology involved is very rapid – if you look into network theory, it shows that Daesh bypassed about four to five stages of network formation in a very short period. That means that innovation within the psychological system is very rapid.” He said.
“The level of territorial conquest Daesh has managed to achieve is unprecedented. It has managed to do, in a period of collapsed time, what took Al-Qaeda or other organizations years, or at times decade of planning. So, that speaks both of its own abilities, but also an enabling environment – the collapse of the Syrian state on the one hand, and the incompetence of the Iraqi on the other.” President Ghani added.
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani while pointing to all of those who face threat from Daesh warned that “if you are going to contain it, we need to be equally fast, creative and coordinated,” he said.

Gulbuddin HekmatyarThe Hezb-e-Islami party led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar has denied reports suggesting the party has joined affiliates of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group.
Haroon Zarghoon, a spokesman for Hezb-e-Islami, denied that the party released a statement last week alleging Hekmatyar had thrown his support behind the ultra-hardline jihadist movement also known as ISIS.
“It was not true. None of us had issued any such statement in support of ISIS in Afghanistan against the Afghan Taliban,” Zarghoon quoted by Reuters said.
This comes as a statement was released from the address of Hezb-e-Islami urging the group’s followers to support the ISIS affiliates in the event tensions further escalated between the Taliban militants and affiliates of the ISIS group who were former members of the Taliban group.
The statement also added that the Hezb-e-Islami has an intense enmity with the Taliban group and communists along with Shura-e-Nizar.
No further elaboration was given regarding the communists, however Hezb-e-Islami’s remarks regarding Shura-e-Nizar were apparently a gesture towards the leaders of Jamiat Islami party.
Hezb-e-Islami is leading an anti-government militant group in Afghanistan and has been blacklisted by US Department of State.
The statement by Hezb-e-Islami comes as the Taliban group sent a letter to ISIS leader last month urging the rival jihadist group to stop recruiting in Afghanistan.
Taliban insisted that there is room for only “one flag, one leadership” in their fight to re-establish strict Islamist rule.
The letter was sent following heavy clashes between the Taliban militants and ISIS affiliates in eastern parts of the country, specifically in Nangarhar province.

The Hezb-e-Islami party led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar has denied reports suggesting the party has joined affiliates of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria
