Head of the parliamentary commission on transportation and communication, Qais Hassan, said the planes are used to transport masked men from Iran to Baghdad, Najaf and Syrian cities.

According to reports, some 3,000 Afghan nationals have been deployed to take part in the ongoing Syria conflict. The Afghan militants are fighting on both sides of the Syrian war, in support of the Syria Bashar al-Assad and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants.

ISIS rise in Afghanistan would threaten Russia and China: Karzai
By MIRWAIS ADEEL - Fri Jun 12 2015, 10:18 pm
0 Comments90 viewsEmail Email Print Print
KarzaiThe former Afghan President Hamid Karzai has said the rise of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group in Afghanistan would not be possible without the foreign backing.
Karzai also warned that the terror group would threaten neighboring Russia and China if the group gained a strong foothold in the country.
In an interview with the Russia Today television network, the former President said the Islamic State (IS), called Daesh in Arabic, is “quiet alien” to Afghanistan.
“So, if you hear ever in the coming days, or months, or years that Daesh is on the rise in Afghanistan, and is strong and expanding militarily, it will mean that it is a foreign-backed force intending to destabilize the region, particularly Central Asia, China and Russia,” he added.
Karzai put the blame for the rapid expansion of IS on “foreign interference” in Iraq and Syria saying that it was all “the result of events” there.
The remarks by Karzai comes as Afghan national security advisor Hanif Atmar has said the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group is looking to have access to drugs market by starting operations in Afghanistan.
Speaking to lawmakers in the upper house of the parliament – Meshrano Jirga earlier last month, Atmar, said the terror group wants to finance the group’s activities by having access to drugs market.
Atmar also warned that the terror group wants to expand its operations not only in Afghanistan but the whole region and wants infiltrate in Central Asian countries.
He said the ISIS group is led by a Pakistani militant and the group recognizes no boundaries since they have already declared the regional countries in their map as Khurasan province.
Concerns regarding the expansion of ISIS activities in Afghanistan comes as President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani acknowledged for the first time in the month that the terrorist group was gaining influence in the country.
Speaking during a press briefing ahead of his visit to United States, President Ghani said “Daesh’s characteristic is that it is man-eating. It swallows its competitors.”
“Here, it is not physical presence of people from Syria or Iraq. It is the network effect,” President Ghani added.

ISIS in AfghanistanThe Minister of Interior Noor-ul-Haq Ulomi said Saturday that the militants who have pledged allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group, are seeking financial support to maintain their operations in the country.
presenting the ministry’s 100-Day plans and strategies, Ulomi said the ISIS affiliates include Uzbeks, Tajiks, Kyrgyz nationals, Chechens, Turks and Uyghurs.

Insisting on regional cooperation to curb the activities of the terror group, Ulomi warned it would be difficult to stop the terror group from spreading its activities if it gained a foothold in Afghanistan.

ISIS to continue looking for ways to expand in Afghanistan: Pentagon
By MIRWAIS ADEEL - Wed Jun 17 2015, 2:50 pm

ISIS-in-AfghanistanThe Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group is likely to continue looking for ways to expand their activities in Afghanistan.
According to a new report by Pentagon, evidence of limited recruiting efforts by the ISIS have been seen by the US forces in Afghanistan.
The report released on Tuesday further added that the US forces have noted a few militants re-branding themselves, likely in an attempt to draw media attention, greater resources and more recruits.
“ISIL’s presence and influence in Afghanistan remains in the initial exploratory phase,” the report said.
It also added that “The Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan has publicly expressed support for ISIL as the leader of the global jihad; however, the Taliban has declared that it will not allow ISIL in Afghanistan.”
The report by Pentagon was released on the same day the Taliban leadership released a letter which was sent to Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
The group in its letter to al-Baghdadi, warned that if Islamic State militants want to fight in Afghanistan, it must be under the Taliban. Fighting broke out this week in the eastern province Nangahar between Taliban fighters and militants affiliated with the Islamic State.
“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan from a brotherhood point of religion wants your goodness and has no intention of interfering in your affairs,” the letter reads.
It also added “Reciprocally, we hope and expect the same from you.”
This comes as the Minister of Interior Noor-ul-Haq Ulomi said Saturday that the militants who have pledged allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group, are seeking financial support to maintain their operations in the country.
